"I just wanted to express my gratitude to both of you. I started the course in 1980, hung with it for a year, and revisited it in 2017. Since then, I have been going strong and even facilitating a group once a week. You both explain the course beautifully, and I have read Ken's books such as 'Healing the Unhealed Mind' and '50 Miracles' multiple times. Thank you for being my miracle."
First, thank you for your lovely videos. I appreciate your deep dives. As a psychotherapist for 25 years and an ACIM student for 30, I have come to see miracles as both a shift in perception and an expression of love. I experience the inner and the outer working together as a whole and the outer shift will happen once the inner shift occurs. And at times we can behave our way to an inner shift. All good conversation. In the end, all of it is about working our way to our final choice for Love and I appreciate your help with that process.

Thank you for clarification on "What is a Miracle" what I have observed is ACIM can be read on two levels and you are offering a definition that draws from both levels is comforting to hear . xoxo
"Shift in perception" is to explain the minor miracles otherwise skipped as commonplace and below notice. Perceiving instead of expecting miracles creates appreciation of their occurrence no matter how small. If miracles mean something else, larger and more dramatic, it creates a problem for students who do not see or are not recipients of dramatic changes in their circumstance or intention.
Correct. Each miracle brings you closer to right mindedness, from perception to awareness of truth of your own being and who you are as a child of God.
“You are asked to behave toward others as you would have them behave toward you. This means that your perception of both must be accurate, since the Golden Rule is the order for appropriate behavior. You can’t behave appropriately unless you perceive accurately, because appropriate behavior depends on lack of level confusion.” "You would not tolerate insane behavior on your part, and would hardly advance the excuse that you could not help it. Why should you tolerate insane thinking? There is a fallacy here you would do well to look at clearly. You believe that you are responsible for what you do but not for what you think. The truth is that you are responsible for what you think, because it is only at this level that you can exercise choice. What you do comes from what you think. You cannot separate the two by giving autonomy to your behavior. Behavior is controlled by me automatically as soon as you place what you think under my guidance." ~A Course in Miracles: Based On The Original Handwritten Notes Of Helen Schucman--Complete & Annotated Edition
“ Miracles are expression’s of Love “, how is this statement created and supported. It starts with our inner thinking. You need to have an waking ( the light bulb in your head has to turn on ), something in your life has to initiate some type of awareness. Only then, what ever your present inner perceptions are , by your own choice can be changed. When you walk the walk and talk the talk about caring (LOVING) ALL HUMAN BEINGS , these expressions of LOVE (MIRACLES) manifest in many different ways. You are the vessel in which GOD works through. GOD is the miracle maker, you are just doing his leg work.
I truly appreciate you both for your in-depth discussions on ACIM topics. Ive been studying this course since '88. Learning something new everyday. (The course IMHO is Personal, so there will be Many unique interpretations of the material. There are Many! As it seems to be written for Everyone...the course does break it down...Your unique relationship to the Holy Spirit, Jesus, God., Your Creator. is , and always will be, Personal. There will be many interpretations of this Divine communication to mankind. Real Communication is always , maximal , meaningful, and developing , connecting eternally, all of time, to all.! ...To as many as can hear...Choose to be a conduit of Love!
❤ By remembering that the other is God, regardless of appearances, and that you are also God, equally regardless of who and how you seem to be, you will treat the other and yourself with love and respect. The two main commandments are thus about how to love yourself and how to love your neighbor. In both cases as God loving Himself. 💗
💗 For forgiveness practice, when I experience seemingly being by myself (no other body in sight) I let God in me think the following, and when there is another body in sight, even as a photograph or video, I imagine God in that other bodily appearance also thinking this and reminding me of it, telling me: "This is only a dream. I am not this human. I am God's holy innocent invulnerable immortal spirit." 💗🙏
Thank you, thank you, thank you! ❤ For 20 years I have tried to wrap my brain around miracles as a change of perception. I had myself convinced that this is so but it never resonated. I would look at the miracles or acts of love that Jesus did while here on earth and wonder if any of these healed people had a change in perception and if not how could they have had a miracle? Somewhere in one of the later lessons it mentioned something that made me think it was saying that the change of perception comes AFTER the act of love or the miracle. Perhaps when we experience a miracle, it then shifts our consciousness around what is real. I can't think you guys enough for clarifying and encouraging and answering questions that have plagued me for years! Blessings!❤
thank you so much for this wonderful clarification, it is so fascinating to somehow get a flavour of how spiritual identity is meant to be and this is so nicely exemplified by how Lord Jesus interacts with these persons. through your both very clear and sober explanation, i am getting a fuller picture. its a real gem ♥
I just want to be a good person and contribute to making the world a better place than it would have been without me. You made points (and the Course does, too) about performing miracles and not knowing that you had. I don't hear voices and I don't have transcendental experiences. If I dedicate my life to performing miracles then I think that it would be helpful to me to be able to learn how to recognize that I had been instrumental in performing miracles, by being able to identify miracles. It would help me to be able to sort out which actions on my part resulted in miracles by learning how to recognize them. I do not know how and you did not provide any tips on that. How do I know that I am performing miracles if I cannot tell. It seems to me that it would be helpful if I could review my day and determine if I had made the world a better place. My most fulfilling relationships with people are in my mind. I can see the beauty in them without being blinded by their angry and even hateful behaviors towards me that objective interactions so commonly evoke. The net advice that I hear is to just try my best and stop being such a wuss by complaining about the lack of feedback. Suck it up, right?
this is truly so brilliant, thanky ou so much for this. its is a foundation on which the spiritual home can be built. my utmost gratitude ♥ i dont understand one thing...why just so few views on such a great illumination?
Thank you, this is great video addressing a critical question. As a student of ACIM since last year, I am longing for actual accounts of miracles by people studying ACIM. Are they any ? If so what are the hallmarks?
I did a funny thing shortly after I began reading A Course in Miracles. Just to better understand the meaning of certain words, every time I read the word "Miracle", I replaced it with "the Peace of God". Every sentence in the book where I did that made sense. Then, I replaced Course with "Learning". I replaced Miracle with "Peace of God" and then I replaced "Peace of God" with "Absence of Anger". And so, I thought the title "A Course in Miracles" could be thought of as "Learning to Live Devoid of Anger". Of course I'm not suggesting we change the name. I just thought that little word game that I played helped me understand the words in a certain way.
Thank you for highlighting the way that it is our joining in love, our sharing and our GIVING of love to others, that is miraculous. One point though. You still have spoken of miracles in terms of "you giving love" to another, for example. Nowhere have you mentioned the holy spirit, given that ACIM specifically says "you do not do them", and that the Holy Spirit has the power of God. You haven't once mentioned the power of God or what it is capable of. You haven't spoken about raising the dead or healing sickness, moving mountains, or any other aspects of the true power of the mind which comes THROUGH the expression of love (or from love). I would really like to see you push the envelope and do a video about the SUPERNATURAL power of God and "do his works" and how we are to operate as miracle workers in which we "do not interfere" but instead allow Jesus or the Holy Spirit to work THROUGH us, what THEY are capable of, and how miracles therefore include and are firmly rooted in extensions of POWER. Not merely that I'm sitting here sending love to someone as nice safe "expressing love", but that there is a power in the mind shared with God which can part the sea, raise dead bodies, literally move mountains, and even more than this ("a small feat for such a power"). I have never heard you speak of the power of the holy spirit or what MIRACLES are truly capable of. And it still leaves everyone in a state where they now think that all they have to do is "be mostly loving" towards others and they're done. NO!!! There is much more to this. Jesus's demonstrations as a miracle worker need to be discussed. Walking on water, miracles violating all the laws of reality as we know it, the holy spirit's manifestations, raising the dead, multiplying food, etc... you need to talk about this and get out of the nice semi-comfortable "lets just be loving" bucket. !!!!!!!!!!! Please :-)
The only statement you said which is wrong, is when you said your job is not a supernatural feat, and only to give love. No. ... you are separating love and power. They are the same thing. Love IS the power of God. It can move mountains. Maybe you haven't realized this yet. There is NOTHING you holiness cannot do. Expressing in and from a state of love, which his also miracle mindedness, is also an openness to utilize the power of God through the holy spirit. That IS supernatural. You need to open up to and discuss this more. Miracles CAN BE spectacular. And you DO have to be in a loving state of mind to do them.
I think that our perspective dictates how we express love. Someone can say, im expressing love by telling people that God will send you to hell if you dont believe in him. Your perspective changes your perception of reality. Acim helps change your perspective so we can perceive others the way God see us in our unity with him and others in order to express love as miracles.
Its seems like miracles happen when your perspective changes how you perceive the world that seems to be in separation and feels the fear and pain from having a wrong perspective as being separated when the reality is that we are one.
In the beginning of this video you mention there is nowhere it says Miracles are a shift in perception. I think this quote is where the word perception is mentioned with defining miracles. #23 "Miracles rearrange perception and place all levels in true perspective. This is healing because sickness comes from confusing the levels."
Sorry, we should have been more clear. We were referring to the specific phrase "shift in perception." We do acknowledge the concept applies to two of the 50 principles. Apologies for the confusion. 💙
@@CircleOfAtonementI'm New , but if we aren't (Perceiving) everyone as valuable we need to to change our (perception) to me that's all it means ❤ THANX for letting me put my two cents in ❣️
I too have been studying ACIM for about 40 years, and I still don't "get" what a miracle IS. I suspect that a / the miracle is the most profound mystery of Helen's channeling of Jesus' spirit--itself the miracle that manifested as the book. Yes, expressions of love, of course; shifts in perception and interpretation; forgiveness of my projected guilt, certainly. And, per Robert's scholarly approach, the definition should strictly emerge from the experience of Helen and Bill, as well as interpretation of the text, taken primarily in its normal or literal sense. Perhaps Jesus could find no better understanding in her mind than the word "miracle." But in the context of the New Testament, a miracle is a shocking revelation of the Christ as the power of God--even among sinful human beings. Especially in contrast to the nature miracles of the Gospels, the Course's milk-toast version is rather disappointing. Was he executed because he preached love and kindness? ( Then again, think of the horrors we would wreak if we could wield that kind of mind-over-matter power... )

So, then, to accommodate differing understandings, could a miracle be defined as a shift from perceptions of fear to feelings-expressions of love?
Correct. Each miracle brings you closer to right mindedness, from perception to awareness of truth of your own being and who you are as a child of God.
