They moved their capital because they have no conection between it and their most developed connected area. I dont know the specifics but its not just the ottomans, if you sorroand a nations's capital it gets automatically moved. There are videos explaning it in previous patches(specially in Byzantine guides since its where its most common for it to happen. One way to quickly check if what I'm saying is correct is to play as Hungary and just take the provinces that surround Viena.
@@AbsoluteHabibi Specifically, I think the rule for the Ottomans is Sea access. As long as there is a route from Edirne to the sea (usually the Black Sea is good enough), they will keep the capital in Edirne. That was important for a major strat before this update because you could take all of the lands in the Balkans except for Edirne and Burgas, and during the 2nd war against the Ottomans, Edirne was basically free war score (this is harder to do now that you start off with Burgas).
This is the best kok DLC video atm genuinely. The whole Byzantium into Rome campaign can be watched in one sitting, which in most channels around 1 hr mark people just get over 1400s. Damn your channel is growing! I do not even play EU4 but I do really enjoy your playthroughs, especially the online ones - I would also love if you explained a bit of things for the UA-cam newbs that just know the basics and history (e.g. what is rolling bad even?)
I’m always torn between explaining everything for everyone (getting complaints from regular players) and not explaining much (getting complaints from new players or people who don’t really play) I think maybe text on screen might be good middle ground. Rolling bad is when you are in a battle, the two sides role a 0-9 dice against each other, if you roll low and the opponent rolls high, that’s called rolling bad.
@@AbsoluteHabibi That makes sense - regarding the newbs and explaining, you could maybe put some small voiceover explaining juuuuust the basics or what are your plans for the playthru PS:I really like when you create your own history in EU4, like when you had massive wars and you called them "First Franco-Swiss war (as an example).
16:45 I think they move their capital if it becomes isolated. If they have a combined land+sea route to it, they won't move it; if it's full surrounded or you block off the coast so they can't land, they will move.
35:28 As someone who is from Monemvasia, I am so happy that the town was mentioned. It has significant historical importance to the history of the Eastern Roman Empire and Greece as a whole.
Ottomans move their capital if Edirne becomes surrounded. That has also happened in the past few patches btw ;) also, that snake towards Hont looks like a middle finger :D
16:48 - this is actually a base AI thing, AI hates having exclave capitals, so they will always try to move their capital out of an exclave. Edit: lmao ok I just saw that one of the other top comments also covered this, nvm
9:13 *diplo annexation of orthodox countries will no longer incur diplo rep penalty* damn thats a pretty nice bonus that makes it so that you don't have to give the nobles the nobility integration policy privilege
one thing i think they have to modify is the culture group of the romans, because roman is in the lost culture but it need to be in a Latin one. (french, iberian, italian) my humble opinion...
probably aomwthing like add all french, iberian, latin and greek cultures to a new Roman culture group, spawn Illyirian for South Slavic cultures and make the primary culture roman
Finally Byzantium has the permanent claims it deserves! Maybe having claims on the max extent of the Roman Empire from 1500 years ago is a bit overkill but I'm totally here for it.
@safs3098 All of the lands they have permanent claims on may have been part of their previous empire but some of these lands were only under tentative control and/or only controlled by Rome for a relatively short period very far in the past. What would probably make more sense from a historical point of view is to give all Christian nations a path to unite Christendom, similar to uniting Islam. Before the age of nationalism that was an actual idea even though the rulers of the time always knew it's unrealistic. The only one who ever got close enough to seriously think about the idea in the first place was Charles V of Habsburg. Giving Christian nations access to a special CB after controlling something like 50% of Christian provinces would be a cool idea. Provided of course that nationalism isn't a thing yet.
I think a great update would be a way to customize trade regions. For example in a game like this greece doesn't make sense to be in Ragusa. There would be a limit to how many provinces a trade region would have and the further it is from the center it would be more expensive to change and less effective
My major problem with this is fleets. By the time I build like, 7 galleys, the Ottomans have 3 heavies and more galleys than me. I literally can't keep up
16:47 that's not technically true. It's an old mechanic (I remember seeing it in 2017ish?), but iirc an AI's capital automatically gets relocated to the highest dev province when it gets cut off from the rest of the country during a peace deal. I don't think it costs them any Diplo points, and I think it can happen if the ai is still fighting in another war. It's working as intended, this was implemented to help the ai deal with pathing. (Yes the ai cheats) I think it's the reason why players are able to relocate their capital to the new world.
AI will always try to move capital if they can, if you completely surround it. If u havent took that Philipholis Bulgarian province, capital would be still Edirne
