I watched Cesar obsessively before I got my first dog and it helped me so much.
+Minty :( you should try positive reinforcement though (watch youtubers like kikopup, she does very good step by step tutorials, these helped me a lot!)
+onewithmyself you are right, it is! without the sht-ing and staring and “establishing dominance“ bs it would work just as good. positive reinforcement can be done using a toy (some dogs prefer it over treats) and instead of a clicker a marker word works just as good. that said, cesar doesnt use positive reinforcement a lot.

His videos are used at vet schools as examples of what not to do.
I have to deal with animals with all kinds of issues at my clinic, directly caused by people following his videos.
Most of them have fear aggression, some pee and bark all the time because of separation anxiety.
Milan is a genius... For not being sued and still remaining in the public eye, fooling them he knows something about canines.
No training. No certification. No degree. Just a TV show and a dog toy company.
He is the bane of Veterinarians and actual dog trainers from respected training facilities, across the nation.
For dog's sake, don't listen to a single word he says about training animals.

Wacha would always look at Andy every time Cesar had his toy. It was like daddy look! he has my toy, tell him to give it to me, kinda look. So cute.

The dog realized that Cesar was more alpha than Andy. Since Andy allowed Cesar to control access to the toy in Andy's presence and Andy could say nothing about it. Dogs quickly do the math to find out who's the leader in the room.

I think he's quite underrated actually. Not only is he great with dogs but he's also great with people. He can be funny or can be harsh if he needs to. It's so cool to have someone like him spell it out for us.

Andy exhibited such pride in his baby becoming a well behaved young man! I had the same reaction-hand to mouth with a gasp!- when Wacha relinquished the toy and focused on his task! Genius!! Cesar is wonderful, wonderful person!!

I always love to watch when cesar practice things he said before about dogs, and all of the owners just like "mindblowing" expression on their face
I am so grateful to Cesar. What I learned from him was invaluable in training my hard-headed rescue dog. He's a very smart border collie, much smarter than me. He's very "alpha", and had become a problem to his first owner. He bit almost everyone who came to their home. He was being protective of her (she's a young woman with a newborn baby). I live alone on 20 acres, off-grid, with a herd of goats. Here, he has several jobs to keep him occupied. He protects me and the goats, he kills rats and ground squirrels that were chewing wires in my vehicles, and alerts me when there's a rattlesnake nearby. I used to be afraid being alone out here, but with Joey as my constant companion and helper I can manage.

And there you see an owner who was actually AFRAID of his dog growling!! This dog is simply vocalizing while he plays, he is not growling as a real threat, yet his owner was jumpy as all heck about it!! LOL Thankfully Cesar could show him and explain about being calm and about what to stop and what to reward.
CAESAR IS A MASTER OF HIS CRAFT! Andy asserted himself immediately and it was such a great bit to watch!!!

Andy, I adore you and Wacha! I'm so happy to see that Cesar helped you with this specific issue of the tug of war. I watch WWHL all the time and was always afraid Wacha would accidentally bite you or a guest doing this activity. It's clear to see that Wacha had more fun playing fetch than growling and displaying aggression. As a celebrity owner of a rescue dog, you have a greater responsibility to showcase the best parts of having an adopted canine companion. I wish you both all the best!

its all about the human being the one in control, like ceaser says people try to humanize dogs instead of being the owner. dogs love humans and will listen and follow. thats why they are called mans best freind
