- Today, video girls in music videos are a common sight, especially in rap and country music. There are often scantily clad but no one seems to be complaining and there is no shame in their game. There has even been a reality TV show called "Candy Girls" about girls in music videos.
Female actresses in music videos have come a long way, as A-listers like Liv Tyler and Alicia Silverstone started their careers as video girls way back in the '90s. We’ve made a video that takes you way back to the '80s when music videos were in their golden age and video vixens were a common sight. In Robert Palmer's music video for "Simply Irresistible," the women in pink dresses were professional models and the women in black dresses were professional dancers. If you watch the video pause around 0:16(the music video, not this video). In the second row, far right, is the model Marie Newberry. She had just come off a shoot where she needed to be tanned so for the Palmer video they used make-up to make her appear paler. She shows up in many of the "body-shots" of the video also. The video was shot in a cold warehouse in England and the models/dancers were told to look "bored", but they struggled because it was almost cold enough to see their breath. After Marie Newberry retired she moved to Ohio, USA(she lived briefly in LA and Tucson first) and lives making beads, flower arrangements(weddings and such) and her partner is a glass blower. She has 21 yo twin daughters that she raised in Ohio.

Jaclyn of Jaclynia Rolling Stones liked Buffalo, NY played here 6 times, Led Zeppelin 2 times, in High School a teacher got Allman Brothers to play for us, funny because it was a Catholic School, saw Lynyrd Skynyrd before plane crash. Kay Lenz went on to become an actress of some noteworthiness. Actually, she might have been an actress before her associated music video. She was married to David Cassidy (of The Partridge family). I remember she was in the horror film "House" (not to be confused with House, MD) and I think she was in a cowboy/western movie.
Devon Jenkin went on to become an athlete of various sports (I think surfing and skateboarding, mostly). She was reported as dead, but it was actually another girl from the same music video. She didn't seek out the limelight but preferred to stay in the shadows, mostly.
Shari Shattuck was a playboy cover girl (not actually going nude for any pictorial) prior to being in that music video. Afterwards, she was an actress of some minor note. I think she had a daughter who became an actress, and looks very similar to her mom when younger.
I'm sure there's more about each of them, but that's all I ever knew about them.

JUST Darren it’s a thing of preference, I loved MTV from early 80s to early 90s. Sometime after 95, it went downhill, with all the girlie reality’s tv show crap. And less videos.
JUST Darren musicians need to make a living, producers, recording engineers need to make money as well. We at time pay for music. In many ways you contradict yourself. And when I was a pre teen, I didn’t give a crap about who’s a sell out or not. I love that British music of the 80s, I listen to thrash metal, all the punk. I wasn’t looking for something for the soul. That sounds like a depressing childhood. I had a blast going to small club shows and many at stadium shows. Man, You sounds like you didn’t get out much.
JUST Darren I know which bands on MTV were manufactured bands or groups, I didn’t like that then or even now. I’m a huge fan of Duran Duran. Bigger fan as a 12yr old. But as I grew older, being star struck fades, and I noticed things, like Simon Lebon of Duran Duran has a terrible voice. An example of true artist is Amie Mann, of the band Till Tuesday, she left the band, because the music industry try to mold her and their music to be like all the other crap that sells. My point is, I understand where you coming from. I myself had my metal band back in the days. But life took me elsewhere nowadays. Family, job, etc.

Courtney Cox WAS "adorable," but maybe because I'm a guy, Jennifer Aniston doesn't come across as irritating to me as apparently she does to you. Then again, Courtney Cox fell off my radar long before Jennifer Aniston. That must be why I don't remember her in MotU (disgraceful movie as that was). She doesn't stand out, to me, as a character. I might have been interested in watching her in DiRT, but their advertising of the series was too annoying. However, the characters she portrays are just too milquetoast, perhaps because she is too sweet and unassuming.
In contrast, Jennifer Aniston takes chances in her portrayals that make her more memorable than just visual appeal. She gives depth to her characters that aren't always perfect.

Funny, in the early 90s I went on a job interview with the company Bebe and about 90% of the women I saw there were all going around with Robert Palmer video girl slicked back hair! Haha! Needless to say the interview was a bust because I was applying for an accounting position and the woman I spoke to thought I could become like interviews for retail sales staff and just "come in & work with the people there and they'll see how it works out...!"😜
