I bought a 2cv for £1,500 - the chassis, engine and transmission were good but the body was rusty beyond compare. Bought a brand new body shell (from the 2cv shop - also available from 2cv city) for £5,000 plus 4 new wings and I have a great ‘nearly new’ 2cv which is a great runner and good fun to drive.

Really great to see the 2CV running again. Best of luck with all your projects.

Thank you very much. Hopefully this crisis will settle down soon. Everything has been delayed months and I am not very good at waiting 😂

That can be arranged if you want The car still have a V5 so it just needs to be taken back into the UK.

But alors... you are french ?
Something is rattling but the flat twin seems to be fine.
To restart a mummified engine it is customary to pour gasoline into the carburetor. The concern is that when the starter is actuated the mixture is too rich and that risks rinsing out the small coat of oil which can still remain on the pistons, the segments and the cylinder. When the engine starts, during the first moments it is practically metal on metal friction. Some people use 2 stroke mix to help lubricate. I used butane gas on the basis of a small camping stove with a flexible pipe inserted in the venturi of the carburetor. The detonating mixture is drier, less detergent and seemed more flammable to me. The gas supply can be continuously adjusted while the engine rather idles. To be tried during the next restart of a fossilized engine ?
    All the best from Brussels.

Yes I am French. Couldn’t you tell from my accent? 😀 (I take it as a compliment). But I have been living in the UK for a long time and now in Austria while awaiting for the crisis to settle down before I move to the US.

Je suis l'heureux propriétaire d'une 2CV6 de 1984 que j'ai remise sur la route.
UK, Austria, USA... Intéressant. All the best to you from Brussels, une fois !
