Sadly you found out the hard way that "Firestone" is a complete rip off establishment. We have one here in my area and they quoted me a price of $2,500 to change four struts. I looked at the guy and walked out without saying anything. I would rather them tow my vehicle than pay the rates they charge at Firestone. A replacement alternator costs what? $85.00? Labor maybe $150.00 max? They pray on people of all types. Anytime i hear someone say they are taking their vehicle to Firestone i tell them don't you dare. Sad Sad Sad.
