People taking the time to grab their bags 🤦🏻♂️
The lady in front of me on a trip to Vegas started getting belligerent because she lost a government device that she stored in overhead.
“Not today” she kept saying, and I kept saying “I agree, now move so I can get off this plane”
they seemed slower than normal actually
Eh, well. Not everyone pays for travel insurance. At times like these, you’re your own insurance.
@@MrResin-xk2mfhahahahhahahah 😂😂😂😂
Who's the old guy standing & telling people to pass? He's creating an impediment. Evacuate means evacuate! You too sir!
On Aeroflot Flight 1492, 42 people were killed during a evacuation after getting blocked by people trying to get their bags. So why were these people grabbing their bags?
Because they don't care about anyone else.
Americans.
I definitely think anyone trying to grab bags during an emergency should be criminally prosecuted.

Lithium battery fires are hard to extinguish, especially on a plane
Thanks for the efficient investigation!
@@SkyBear0509So efficient that he failed to uncover that the A320 has Nickel Cadmium batteries. NCSP B 23060 LM. LiOn is possible, but Nickel Cadmium is more typical.
sort of, but they're on the ground and at gate. So cabin crew should have conducted the fire drill from their SEP manual quicker.
The biggest danger here is the smoke/fumes build up. You should avoid doing a full evacuation if possible since you're greater risk of ppl getting injured(which you saw happened plus idiocy of pax grabbing their bags).
Since the jet bridge was already connected, i would done a rapid disembarkation first. Then re-evaluated if an actual evacuation is needed. Seen in the video aft those doors aren't armed nor is the r1 service door. So you're not even doing a full commitment to evacuation!? Was the evacuation started by the commander or by nr1? Because evacuation you should use ALL available exits.
First question, do you see flames? is it a controllable or uncontrollable fire. Uncontrollable, evacuate. Controllable sit on your hands for 2s and evaluated.
Like you do in the sim when you get an apu fire/engine/wheel well/cargo etc. Can you extinguish it and does it remain extinguish? then it's controllable and an evacuation is not needed and not preferred.
Poor crew some fun weeks ahead...
They really need to make locks for the overhead bins. If the evac button is hit in the flight deck, all overhead bins lock closed immediately.
This is very contrasting to how people evacuated the Japan Airlines aircraft that was on fire six months ago.
Japan is a civil and orderly country, America is not. Simple as that.
Imagine if that had happened on American soil…
These passengers were still boarding hadn't seen the safety video and hadn't acclimated. Studies have shown that when people are on the plane, all I. Their seats and acclimated they will follow the rules even if they hadn't ever seen an emergency flight briefing. However during boarding is the worse time because you can have a person with 10 million miles in the air and they will still freeze as they aren't psychologically prepared for what to do. This is a known issue in aviation safety.
Well, the demographics make a difference.
That's the contrast between Asians and Whites.
Japan orderly and follows directions - United States Panics and grabs bags
Cant stand it when passengers scream. Doesnt make the situation go quicker and makes the job more difficult on flight attendants. Grow up.
It's a world's difference when compared to the passengers in a JAL 516 flight being evacuated in January earlier this year
@@TrevorWebb-ck2yv yeah. That incident was also much worse as the entire aircraft was destroyed.
Can we get some high speed rail? Plesse!
Why? This had nothing to do with the plane? It was the passengers laptop that burned up. Highspeed rail wouldnt change anything.
@@DesmolightDesmo evacuation are easier
As a railfan and aviator, yes we do need more high speed rail, and Amtrak was dumb to buy a train that didn’t fit on some tracks🤦
@DesmolightDesmo .Of course it does. More exit doors. Ground level so less likely passengers will get hurt while evacuating.
@@GageTucker-of2wdwhich train was that?
I can foresee new regulations for laptops or any electronic devices in the near future.
As much as pilots and flight attendants would support such restrictions in the name of safer cabins - I doubt it will happen. The situation is just as problematica as 'back in the day' when smoking was allowed on board.
Of course this “One Guy” had to ruin it for everybody 😔
Doubtful that there could be any kind of stricter regulation as it would be difficult to enforce (will you check each person during boarding to see their laptop?) and a strict ban is impossible as most people travel with a laptop.
🗣️🗣️🗣️: Come outside, leave everything.
Pax: ***RECORDING 📹🎥📹🎥**
Emergency on plane: Japan = stay calm, follow crew instructions and evacuate without worrying about belongings. America = panic, scream, grab belongings from overhead lockers to delay evacuation because material things are more important than lives…
shows why your chance of survival is so low during commercial air travel disasters, people are so dumb
The chance of surviving an emergency is very high.
Don’t comment on things you know nothing about
… flying is unbelievably safe, and while there are events like this pretty often, fatal accidents are exceedingly rare. Your chance of surviving an incident on a commercial aircraft are exceptionally high, not low.
@@Powderlover1 im referring to the people trying to grab their belongings. Imagine this was a water landing and you have some dude trying to get his carry on during those precious minutes before tha aircraft sinks.
This is why all batteries needs to be in the cabin. Not checked.
Telling people to drop everything after they’ve grabbed their bags is just as dangerous.
That said; just get off the flight. Please don’t grab your bags. If my family and I needed off the flight during a fire and you spent time grabbing your bags….your fate is a trampled burned corpse on the floor.
They need something like a "fire box" where you can put battery fires in it and vent it out
The people who took their time to grab their bags and belongings need to be jailed- absolutely sickening!
I usually carry my wallet and passport in a waist bag under my clothes when I’m on a plane. You really should listen to the flight attendants when they say not to bring anything with you- it really IS a safety hazard.
If something like this were to happen on a flight I'm on, I hope it's on Japan airline, the difference JA flight evacuation 6 months ago vs this🤦♀
Exactly. A totally different mindset.
The Japanese are an orderly people. The jungle of "diversity" or whatever you want to call it is not.
@@schalitz1 Japanese are very homogenous... Americans on the other hand, most are selfish as individuals, greedy, and don't care about other people.
I knew it would be a Laptop Battery, those things have barely any way to vent their heat especially gaming ones, but people should seriously double check that they shut down their laptops.
windows "modern standby" doesn't help either where it randomly causes the computer to wake up and drain the battery
Windows fault. They no longer let you fully shutdown using normal means
Good thing I have a Mac.
imagine being the guy who owned the laptop just seeing your bag outside the plane being inspected
Laptops are not allowed in the cargo area, so this was on a carry-on, so she would have been very close to the laptop when it was removed.
Theres video from inside the plane just behind the laptop owner.
Should be a $10,000 fine + put on "no-fly list" if you are caught taking your bags during an emergency.
What if they have important stuff!? If I have something valuable with me I am bringing off the plane.
@@melovetorun Great, so you can accidentally tear the emergency slide or accidentally hit someone with it at the bottom of the slide.
@Well_possibly
If you're getting hit at the bottom of the slide that has nothing to do with a bag...
Furthermore, you can't possibly think of ANY way to slide down something without ripping it. REALLY! Humans, most objects actually, are three-dimensional mate: they have multiple sides...
It's one thing if you're in the aisle reaching to overhead bins, but to bring the bag you have at your feet is actually MORE expedient, at least with bigger planes. The fact you don't know that shows you've never been on a team bus trip, and the fact you can't realize that is concerning.

Aviation, especially anything Boeing related, is big on the news cycle right now, so they've increased the stories to get even more views. Things go on every day at airports that could be featured on the news in the past but didn't, but now anything is a juicy story. Source: Me, a former airline pilot
@@Magellan-s2p This is not a Boeing aircraft that just had this issue. It's not all Boeing, yes the crashes 2 years ago and the door plug was Boeing but most of these issues are on the airlines. The airlines need to maintain their aircraft correctly, it's not up to Boeing. Half of these issues have also been airbus. The aircraft in this incident is an airbus A321.
To be fair in this case, seems like it was an unrelated device. Scary to be sure, but not one to add to this list this time. Not sure how dangerous such a fire is even if they were in the air, hopefully most of the stuff in a plane's cabin isn't particularly flammable.

People trying to grab their stuff should be fined and prosecuted
When a flight attendant tells you to leave everything behind (that includes all of your belongings), you do so! All these passengers are slowing down the evacuation process which has to be done in 90 seconds. Those people completely disrespected the flight attendants
This reminds me of the 2024 Haneda Runaway collision. In a domestic flight (with predominantly Japanese folks), no one grabbed their bags and went off straightforward; everyone is alive. This flawed evacuation demonstrates that we need to do better in worst-case situations.
Because this was during boarding before evacuation instructions are given, we may need to have an endless video loop of evacuation instructions playing in the gate lounge area. It is kinda like a passenger ship sinking shortly after leaving the dock or if the Dali cargo ship had been a passenger vessel. Would be interesting if they mentioned the full time needed for this evacuation.
Culture issue
They’re called Americans
I wonder if that was a 90 seconds evac.
For all you non aviators saying, oh it’s Boeing. ITS AN A321
but it wasnt the plane anyway...

Why do you put your phone in airplane mode
I've flown a few times in the last 2 years and still have no idea what that means
“Just last year….” So we’ve had two in a little over half a year? All the laptops that fly everyday and we’ve had two cases in half a year? That doesn’t sound like ‘just’”

Ridiculous comment here! Panic from the smoke (i.e if there's smoke, there's a fire, as simple as that). If you are onboard a plane and there is smoke, you evacuate period! You don't wait until the source of the fire is identified and deemed evacuation-worthy. Also screaming on the ground is normal after such an event that gets your adrenaline levels up. It is obvious you are commenting while you have never been on such a stressful situation!

For the record, Ive seen laptop fires before, and assuming thats the offending appliance that investigator has in his hand that thing didnt catch on fire. But note how this is an Airbus plane (by the way that is the 7 airbus jet this year to have a fire related incident this year and all but one that I know of were US based, the other was British Airways) and at no point is anyone calling out this problem being with the aircraft or the manufacturer when the problem clearly isnt. I wasn't suprised it because they should be clam. But it's natural that passengers are freaking out.
Before reboarding, passengers were charged an extra $100 for the fire, smoke and use of evacuation slides.
Here we go , a new ordinance is on its way, no more battery powered devices on the aircraft which means no cellphone, no tablet, no laptop. Just a side note, imagine if the battery exploded during the flight and in the baggage section.
This has happened before and killed people unfortunately. That is why they must be in carry on and not checked baggage. The other day I saw some guy on reddit saying how he always checks everything so he doesn't have to carry it. He did not believe those of us who told him that laptops are supposed to go in carry on. 😢
If I was a passenger the first thing, remove any batteries, turn off phones. Strange the computer battery caught fire, my guess that the owner of that laptop will be in trouble cause any damage or never fly again. Now FDA investigating someone forgot remove the battery

Always remember to turn-off laptops before boarding the plane. Reason: Some applications that are too process intensive may continuously hog the CPU causing heat and heat --> smoke!

Sorry for passengers' discomfort and pains. I liked AA flights. I am hoping it is not a way to taint laptop batteries to make way for a new tech. Those people could have died while advertising or making way for a new tech or investment in that tech. Anyway I watched this after I smelt huge smoke in my nose but couldn't tell where it was coming from.
