As someone who has had the unfortunate experience of being bitten in the foot by a 12kg northern Pike (one of the most common fish here in Sweden) and almost losing a toe to it, I never underestimate fish. Not even "small" ones. They are insanely strong, usually have nasty teeth and they are way faster than you will ever be.
As someone who goes northern pike fishing with my dad fairly often I also have a story Essentially I caught a 35 lb pike one time last year, as I was have a picture taken with it, it flops around and slaps me in the nuts _the...fucking...pain_ I thought I was gonna die for real
When I was young I went fishing on a boat off the coast in key West with my uncle. My uncle hooked up a barracuda and it launched itself into the boat. He had to drive us into the dock while bleeding from a scary slice in his arm. I had to run to other fishermen and get them to rush him to the hospital.
Your people are far more dangerous. Humans are biosphere killing monsters who's arrogance is matched only by their cruelty. Humans are the most dangerous animals on Earth.
We used to kept a pond filled with catfishes for food. If one of the catfish died, we don't have to remove it from the pond because its fellow catfishes will cannibalize it. Also they're fine living in murky dirty water, so it's super easy to keep.
7:20 For those fortunate enough to not know what bisection is, it means that fish supposedly almost cut the girl in half. As to bisect something means to cut something in two.
1:10 If anybody is wondering what this fine fish is, it’s a Sarcastic Fringehead. I’m not kidding. The mouth is usually used for inter species competition between males for space or mates.
If I remember right, an alternate translation of the Tigerfish’s name, Mbenga, is “Demon Fish” or “Devil Fish”. It’s seen as an evil omen by local tribes in the Congo region & if a Tigerfish is spotted near a village, the villagers believe that someone in the village is about to die
I usually hate the presentation style of "guy holds lapel mic in front of his face" but his info is novel and interesting to me, AND I've seen him uphold his integrity (issuing a high visibility correction episode) so I can't help but be okay with it.
The puffer fish biting the carrot should tell you how easy they could take a finger. It takes close to the same bite force to do both of these. You just can't do it to your own fingers because your brain says "NO MORON!" And stops you.
A fish the size of your arm has a powerful smack almost equivalent to someone's direct slap. Imagine something that's armored, much thicker and bigger, and has more muscles doing the same to you. Breaking a bone would be the least of your worries.
Yeah... fish do be scary. I remember the first time I saw the picture of an Anglerfish in an Encyclopedia, and just said "No, thanks." 12:41 I believe the word you were looking for was either needle or stinger. 23:50 The tribal warriors of the island of Kiribati would make helmets out of Pufferfish. And blades of Shark Teeth. Seriously.
@CSLucasEpic Funny thing about Anglerfish, the ones you usually see are female. The males, over 100x smaller than the female, will LITERALLY infuse with the female and basically become sperm packets for the giant female fish. Some Anglers have been found to have well over 10 males on their bodies.
Remember, the single best full body workout you can get is from swimming, fish do that nonstop since birth, never underestimate the strength of a fish as they don't need to get very big to be able to make you a was. Also considering it takes as much pressure to bite through a carrot as it does a human finger, don't go putting your digits anywhere near their mouths.
Funny thing about humans is that, we actually do have monsters. The classic definition for a monster is either a big creature or "any imaginary frightening creature". You're telling me, if someone tells you that there is a long fish out there who could create lightning. You wouldn't immediately called them insane? You're telling me that if someone tells you that out there in the ocean there a literal swarm of eight legged red creature that could drown you into the abyss, and you wouldn't call them crazy? It's funny how we often disregard monsters as something out of the fairytale when nature have some of the most terrifying creatures out there that aren't simply big dogs or big cats. Dragons aren't real, but damn Komodo Dragon is close if not more terrifying if you think about. They run fast, they could climb, they swim really well and could even dive underwater, and they pack some of the nastiest bite that contains some of the nastiest venom along with tons of bacteria. We have a shrimp with the punch equivalent to a gun shot. Eel that could create electricity. Bats that drink blood. Snail that could launch essentially a harpoon faster than you could blink while having said harpoon laced with venom that might get you just enough to pass a smoke before you pass away.
I'm reminded of a bit from an old creepypasta me and a buddy wrote back and forth like back in school. "Diver's kit includes a knife, so that in case a diver is pulled too deep by the currents, they may off themselves before sometghing else gets to them"
In the video, he says that the candiru thing with uretras is a myth. What he doesn't tell you is that there are giant candiru (Cetopsis candiru and Cetopsis cetopsis) that have nasty bites and usually eat dead bodies from the inside out, but sometimes attack live humans removing chunks of meat of your body or eat the fish that anglers catch alive while they are being reeled in 🙂
Correction on river monsters Jeremy Wade found the one confirmed case of a candiru swimming up a man's business he interviewed the doctor who surgically removed the danm fish and even interviewed the victim the fish was preserved by the doctor as evidence
9:31 This can happen to both men and women and it also enters the anus if it can (and I'm Brazilian so I can say that these fish are a hell of a nuisance, and an extra precaution that you always have to keep in mind when fishing (but that depends on where you are in Brazil))
7:59. Man... after watching all these monstrosities of the sea, she showed us a hint of fear in her voice. Sure, we're all terrified after seeing those creatures, but the first time I watched this, I felt the chill down my spine, and which makes me think that we're all not safe in the ocean anymore. We don't know what we will find in the water, but maybe in the future we will have a lot of fish that are deadlier than normal fishes and sharks but what we will find that is new and deadlier that is so advanced, it's the end for all of us. May God be with us in the underwater
i just realised, theres an entire generation of people who haven't seen the wonders and horrors Jeremy Wade was able to pull out of the water in River Monsters
As a German I lived rather close to the Killer Catfish location. When ever I wanted to go swimming my Mother would tell me about that fish and suddenly I never wanted to go swimming again. I have no clue how to swim because I refused to learn it and I also have Thalasophobia. Thanks mom. Great peranting.
Congratulations. You've just added yourself to my hate list for that comment. You've also further proven my point that humans are cruel and dangerous monsters. You people disgust me.
No, no, hell no, the blue ring octopus is the deadliest thing in the ocean. No anti-venom and it's painless so you won't even know that you've been bitten...for about 30mins.
10:28 Now that was funny coming from a... uh... are you supposed to be a succubus or simply a generic demon? 🤔 (please don't be mad, I got curious and the reaction WAS funny lol)
Well, the Fugu pufferfish is considered a delicacy in Japan, but I would never try it. I rather not tempt fate. And this is coming from someone who tried raw horse meat in Japan.
Topm anyone about to do fishing after watching casual geographic, *y'all better need a bigger boat, and a strong mental stability* . Be it in saltwater or freshwater
Casual Geographic insists on anthropomorphizing and sensationalizing animals. There are so much better channels to watch if you genuinely wish to learn.

Those fish are also seen in Far Cry 4 game, also known as Devil Fish too and do come I huge sizes.
Yeah the Tigerfish is big and are usually roaming alone. Then there's its baby sized one that travels in schools like piranhas
Casual Geographic is such a great channel to watch

Chromatophores are color-changing cells that can change their color. Cephalopods usually use them for communication and camouflage.

This is why scientist work so hard to put us into space, cus they saw the ocean depths and where like "nha son"
It's more to deal with pressure, really
A fish the size of your arm has a powerful smack almost equivalent to someone's direct slap. Imagine something that's armored, much thicker and bigger, and has more muscles doing the same to you. Breaking a bone would be the least of your worries.
Btw, if you have those catfish in your aquarium that stick to the glass, don't get stung by those. It's not a fun time.

oh yeah that popping noise at the beginning is a type of lure. they're really loud and typically mimic injured frogs and such. very good with catfish
I’ve always said we need more vtubers reacting to Casual Geographic.

Yeah, they are. They’re called Red Devils for a reason. Even the Giant Squid has them. I should also mention they use them to grab and rip prey apart.

let's go for a swim!!
no I'll pass because i don't want to know whats underneath the ocean
Funny thing that most of these fish are freshwater
Fun Fact: Electric Eels aren’t actually eels. They’re technically Catfish. Just look at a side-by-side of their faces and you’ll see the resemblance.
For real, I see fish and see food. The bigger the fish, the more food for the family.

The Red Devil? HELL NO!
"How is the ocean so terrifying!?"

That’s why the water is a big no no for me, I am not going to swim in a place when those monsters can be found
I recommend more of Causal Geographic if you have a strokg stomach and are prepared to have your view of some animals ruined.
If I remember correctly, Electric eels are not even eels at all. Instead, they are more related to catfish.
