Thank you for this video - It provided all I needed to do this work. There are some extra information I'd like to add: Some 4runners have a "wale-tail" mounted on the top of the hatch. You'll need to remove that before trying to navigate the window in.Its easy to remove, just two bolts covered by some rubber gaskets. My mistake : I thought it would be easy to disconnect some wires from that device on the right hand side of the door. DO NOT disconnect those wires! After I did that, the door latch would not open and only after reconnecting everything and disconnecting the battery did the latch work again. You dont need to disconnect any wires to do this job. (except for the defroster on the window itself) The window I bought was slightly misaligned from the OEM holes on the window bracket. The plastic where the mounting holes are were slightly longer and kicked it out of alignment after seating. I took a file and gently removed some of the plastic on the end and then it fit like a glove. Dont take off too much only a fraction of a mm is all you need.
I’ve put in many windows when I worked for Toyota. You did this 100% correct. Step by step is how I would have done it. I did hear a couple pieces of glass fall after you put the window in and the plastic cover back on, also some crunching of glass when the regulator was going down. I know if a pain in the ass to get every piece of broken glass out. Those chunks of glass will rattle when the customer opens and closes the rear door. If they are anal they might complain. Overall you did a great job.
This happened me today. Use defroster parked and came back out and shattered. Not fun to spend the weekend but it is what it is and found spare parts so will replace tomorrow myself.
Good overview...you helped me get to the bottom of a problem I had repairing the window lifts that rusted out and I needed to replace the lifting mechanism ($144). However, here is some positive feedback: I did notice you seemed inattentive to the details as you did not replace the 2-3 cover snaps you lost and you left a big mess of glass in the back of the Toyota you worked on. The job is not done until you clean everything up. Also, you were complaining about how people think your glue and other things used for the job should not cost them...(who cares...charge 10% fee for incidentals). Finally sir...clean up and organize your work truck!
Hi Pastor McCarthy, my back window Regulator (lifting mechanism) just went out yesterday. Did you install the new one by yourself? If so, it would be great if we can discuss.
When buying a used replacement window what years are compatible with a 2008 I know the door locking mechanism are the same from 2002-2009 is it the same with the back window too?! Thanks
Candace Cash ok if we are talking about f150 98 to 04...or 97 to 04 windshield will be the same as the back glass..only in back chances one piece.tint.or dark.and sliding....but. 2004 to 08... Or 04 to 10 the body chances windshield is different as back glass .the same befire chance one piece tint dark or sliding ..but f250..total different ..hope this helps
@@vdkarautoglassreplacement3642 She ask the question in the video about a 4Runner rear window. What led you to F150? Obviously she was talking about a 2008 4Runner.
See I have a 04 4 runner and I need to fix the back window bc they put plexiglass for a place holder and I need to find that same color paint for the car
Hi, I have a 2003 Toyota Sequoia. The back glass came off track because the regulator is rusted out. The repair is almost 2,000 dollar. Is there a way just to permanently lock in place the existing glass ? I trying to reduce cost.
Sure just opend the panel and use a clamps wire ..means steal wire tin its better you will do its make hooks ..open your panel losecthe bolts of attachments and tight the wire wire from inside to outside.and using ani 10 mm bolt attach the regulator lose t and secure the wire and tight.wirh the glass all the way up..after that put the panel and the glass will keep up.
Satelite left all the broken glass at the bottom of my rear gate to rattle every time I open the back gate. Satelite is NO GOOD. Now my window will not go up/down.
My dad was an auto glass man for 60 years. There is no way in he** he would have ever left that broken glass inside of that car. That is no way to do business. I would never use this guy and/or company to do any work for me! If my dad could see this video he would roll over in his grave. Seems like someone is a little lazy to me. I mean he already had to vacuum out the broken glass from inside the rear hatch why not take another minute or two and get that out of the back of the car? I'm just saying.
True. I’m a mobile glass guy , unprofessional to leave broken glass. Most of time customers are extremely happy when you clean everything and it usually earns you a good review

Just made this mistake too late. Rear hatch won't open. How long do you disconnect the battery for?
@@rcwarren5638 Sorry that happened...I dont think it was off for long...maybe no more than 10 minutes.

Top notch work quality and attention to detail!
Great video, had one of these to put in today. Made my life a lot easier.
Thank you for sharing your work!!!!
Very informative. I look forward to future videos.
Real hero here.
This video could have been SO much better with a little bit clearer picture and more light to actually see the internals of the hatch.
Awesome video thank you!
The fuckin 4Runner has a defect on the defroster, it explodes!
Its easy cause you dont have the rear upper wing.

My Back glass exploded . 2006 4 runner. i am in South East of Liberia. Guess I have to fix it myself

Would this be the same install on a 99 4runner???
This is exactly what I need on my 2002. Do you come to No. San Diego Co.? I'll get the grease you need!

Watch it on mute? Maybe learn Spanish? Learn elsewhere? Don't be a dick? Many options
Everything was filmed in a dark shadow no clue whatsoever what you did or how you did it just 25 minutes of zero info I could use for myself.
