Such a sad thing to happen. I am sorry for the people of Dawlish who love their famous black swans and wild birds living on the Brook. I hope precautions are now in place to stop this EVER happening again
Seeing the black swans in Dawlish was a highlight of our family holidays and still are, love them! Just so irrisponsible of a dog owner....sadly that's the society we live in. Changes please!!!! X
There are a series of orders in the UK that mean you have to leash your dog in certain places in your local area, for example children's play areas, sports pitches, roads, parks and beaches. I hope the owner gets prosecuted
Honoured more in the breach than the observance. Dog owners can often be blind to the danger their pets pose to wildlife. Dogs are great, but you have to watch them.
So sad to loose the dad, a wonderful tribute to him. Hope the owner of the dog was severely dealt with. Will the trust try to find another male swan, or just leave them to carry on without?
I will sadly miss him greatly. I live here like you. I so wished I was there at the time. That owner needs locking up and the dog well you know what I would do to it. Xxxxxxx
Beautiful video and such a touching dedication to dad swan. I pray that something will be done to protect these swans ,and that something this horrific will never happen again. My heart ❤ goes out to mom swan and her babies that she'll never get to know. 😭
The Wild Creatures and Forest Law Act 1971 protects swans . I hope the owners of the dog that did this get the biggest penalty that a judge can give - given that swans are protected by the queen.
I do hope the owner is prosecuted as I imagine the dog did not get off unscathed and would have needed Veterinary treatment, the injuries shoud have rung alarm bells with the Vet, just as certain injuries do with Doctors. Assuming the dog's owner was a caring one and took it to the Vet's, which I doubt.
I just hope the widowed mother, gets over her loss and finds another mate, and raises some more chicks this year. You see swans that mate for life, so she might find it difficult to accept another one. Fingers crossed 🤞
I can’t....so very sad...such a beautiful creature

Ah bless, something so easily prevented if the dog was on a leash. R.I.P beautiful swan. 💙🙏
All these creatures want is a peacefull life. Bless mamma and cherubs x
A lovely tribute . . Poor mum not being able to share the lovely babies with dad swan.
So sorry this happened. Irresponsible owners to be condemned.

Agreed
What a beautiful video but also very sad I do hope nothing like that ever happens again.
Saw the black swans when we visited in October, glad to see that five of the eggs hatched and the dynasty can continue.

Dreadful news. I'm so sorry.

❤❤❤❤
People should control there dogs, If not keep them on a lead.
😢😢😢
This is why i hate dogs no owner responsibility , in 2015 a dog attacked and killed my cat in my front garden.
I hope the dog was destroyed and owner band from having dogs again
