    Gotta play with the tilt for best balance. Feel it!!

      Yeah i did that too. definitely felt better without the foil though changed props a couple times to get more rpms. that helped the most

    After installing the hydrofoil you should trim the bow up. I had the same issue the bow is pushed deeper in the water which results in more drag. So trim the propeller 1 step further off the stern that will rise the bow more out of the water. You could do a second try to adjust it again.

      Tried it but it picked the nose up too high canceled out any lift the rear gained from the foil. Hydraulic trim and tilt would probably help but with the extra weight might just be a wash there too.

    Test is the fun, Need for speed get a Johnson 40 speed 31or 50 speed 33 they are easy to work on , about same as 9.9 and gas miles

      Yea I enjoy the testing and tuning process. I would've swapped it for a bigger motor already but the lakes I run around here have a 10hp restriction on them. Want to set up the harness on a quick connect and have 2 motors to swap between when I'm not on those lakes.

      Get 15hp carburetor put in there and add some cup in propeller,the motor will look the same

    Prop is where it’s at. I’ve never seen where a hydrofoil helped but that’s just me.

      Seen them help bigger boats get out the water a little quicker but that's about it. Wishful thinking on my part with this one lol

      Figured if nothing else it would make a decent video lol

      One thing for sure you don’t know until you try.

    From my exexperiences, a hydrofoil sacrifices speed for better planing.

    • @YerkitRacingChannel
      @YerkitRacingChannel  4 місяці тому

      Same thing I've experienced. Thought there was a chance if it help it get all the way on plane, it might go a little faster since total drag would go down. Didn't work though as boat still wouldn't plane all the way off with the foil.

      I have 16' aluminum with heavy 70hp 4stroke Suzuki. The bow points to the sky when starting. It gets on plane but needs to be dead slow or about 2500rpm to plane. I put a set on yesterday. Take off flat and can pull boarder at lower speed now. Trim is key now compared to before. I was taking a couple feet Erie rollers faster I could tell. Smooth too. Was rough so not sure about top speed. Going to go drag some kids around right now. ☺In my experience, your experience is Fact checked TRUE🤣good luck.

    9.9 kinda small for a 17

    • @YerkitRacingChannel
      @YerkitRacingChannel  9 місяців тому

      Yeah probably doing pretty good where its at now on a 17ft boat. Tried a couple different props and got the speed up to around 16 mph now. Probably going to need a bigger motor to do much better than that. Will have a couple more videos on the props soon.

    Try trimming your motor. Your pushing more water

    • @YerkitRacingChannel
      @YerkitRacingChannel  9 місяців тому +1

      Manual trim pin on this motor. Tried different pin positions to find the best one for each scenario. The foil lifted the prop out of the water so had to move back one pin lower. That's probably what slowed it back down now that I think about it.

    Prop & trim also fuel mixture may need tuning.

      @YerkitRacingChannel  4 місяці тому

      Mixture looks good on the plug... played with props and trim settings quite a bit too. Will have more videos out soon on the prop changes

      @@YerkitRacingChannel I’ll be watching good luck when you choke it on top end and it runs cleaner asking for a slightly bigger main jet. Or maybe a bit low on fuel pressure could be slightly dirty fuel lines.
