    Benshi Performer: Koyata Aso
    Koyata Aso is the only daughter of Yata Aso. She grew up watching her father's benshi performances and made her debut at the age of 10 at Asakusa Mokubatei. In 2003, she won the Minister of Education Cup at the 48th National Youth Speech Contest. In 2008, she was featured in the high school English textbook "All Aboard II" (Tokyo Shoseki) as "A Young Katsubenshi." In 2016, a commemorative stamp featuring Yata Aso and Koyata Aso was released. In March 2020, she completed all course requirements for the doctoral program at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, University of Tokyo. Koyata engages in various stage activities, including hosting, English benshi performances, lectures, scriptwriting, directing stages, making original movies, and performing arts. Since 2005, she has co-run the "Benshi School" with Yata Aso, training the next generation of benshi performers. She is a board member of the Japan Speech Federation, the deputy editor of "Monthly Asakusa," the tourism ambassador of Konosu City in Saitama Prefecture, and a writer for the tourism information site "TAITO Odekake Navi" in Taito Ward, Tokyo.
