It's not just the bit-crushed audio, ElevenAI was mostly trained on audiobooks. It's just *actually* that good. In fact the audio probably came out of it sounding that way, in this case.

the way his voice trails off and intensifies when he says “you’re half an hour late, where the *fuck* have you been??” Is so human I’m scared of AI now
It's scary how even the emotion and frustration is reflected in the voice with the ai. Like how the hell does it know to have him deliver the line like that, I don't think there's any lines ingame with that same kind of delivery.
I'm pretty sure you can setup some properties in the generator that allows it to emote the words in a certain manner if you tell it to and it tries to get it right. 15.ai had something similar to this but it wasn't anywhere near as advanced or clean sounding.
It isn't quite perfect but it is good enough to be amusing. This voice is pitched slightly higher than the standard scientist voice so I'm pretty sure mostly due to half life's unique sound quality the AI had a hard time getting this one flawlessly, but still pretty good.
