What LUFS target do you recommend for dialogue loudness?

Depends on your deliverables but around -27 LUFS if you're aiming for a -24 LUFS output. It really depends on the rest of the content and the deliverables though.

Baked in the video. Very helpful. Ask your editors to do it.

Hi Benni, I hope this comment finds you well. I have been mixing since 2015 but all of the material I have mixed is dubbed shows/movies/documentaries. I feel the need to get into something more serious, which I consider to be the original production, not dubbing. How should I go about doing that? Thanks.

Do you mean creating your own content? Producing your own sound effects? Starting your own film?

Or do you mean you do language dubbing for existing content? Do you enjoy the work? Does it pay well? I’ve never done what you do. I’m not really sure how to transition. Find people making original content and show them your work.

@@benniknop i work for a company that dubs existing content to different languages. I enjoy the work but it does not pay well. Sometimes we get cool shows and movies to work on and I always wondered how I can work on the dialogue from the original production, as opposed to the dubbed dialogue I currently work on. Maybe it doesnt pay much more and the work is a lot more demanding? Example, ive worked on the Netflix series The Crown, but the brazilian portuguese dub... I would have loved to have worked on the original dialogue.
