I agree. I just finished watching Fu Yao and the acting by main cast and side characters were so bad it was cringy. The acting in this drama is such a big leap from most Chinese dramas. Even the side characters were great. I think I've fallen in love with the lead actress. She's phenomenal.

I love the fact that after she learnt the truth about her marriage she accepted her husband and even allowed him to hug and kiss her.i thought it will take time for her to fall in love and am thoroughly enjoying the drama.
This ain't no Kdrama where it takes until episode 14 for anything to happen lol But to your point, I think she accepted him once he saved her the second time, she just needed to be comforted that he loved her. She was hurt when he left her at the wedding day. I'm glad they are a mature couple, and talks things out instead of pointless lies and misunderstandings.
The fact is... this film is made as realistic as it could be. When she decided to marry him, kissing and serving him was a kind of a matter of course. If he didn't leave her at the wedding night, she would have given herself to him despite not loving him. She ignored him afterwards more because she wanted to punish him, she felt humiliated for being abandoned at the wedding night. According to their belief and upbringing, serving the husband is a duty. She wouldn't reject him if he wanted her. It is a fortune that her husband is an upright man and didn't force himself on her. This is actually even one fine details that made her respect him and give the appreciation that he deserves, how she could give away her heart to him. Being his wife is already settled, so...there is no point for her to reject him. Therefore since she found out that he is not the one scheming to harm her, to take her away, she has surely no shackle anymore in her heart..there is no reason for her why she can not devote herself to him now. Even her mom was once devoted to her husband too despite the arranged marriage. An arranged marriage is a custom in their era afterall.
This series is absolutely beautiful and a great testimony to Chinese filmmaking and acting. The best of everything is combined with a rich tapestry of human emotions portrayed by fabulous actors and actresses who allow Chinese and foreigners to see China from a historic angle . I can't wait for the next episode. I rewatch the sensitive grassland intimacy of Awu and her husband while waiting for the next episode.
I have been enjoying this drama so much! I love how Zhang Ziyi is playing such a strong female lead. I am disappointed by the response that some people are criticizing the show purely because they think she's too old for the role.
Ashley Wu how could people criticise such great acting by the two leads in this? Both are mature & excellent in their roles, wishing success to them both....👏🏻👏🏻

This drama is a huge production so you are getting spoiled because after this it's going be hard to compare other historical drama. But I agree, best cinematic drama by far.
I haven't watched this episode yet but I really wanted to state that XiaoQi has been such a sweet person. Just the way he speaks and he is so selfless to AWu. He just seemed so sweet also he is so fierce but you don't see it until he comes at an enemy with his sword. I really love all the characters in this drama. I wonder if there is a book?
Xiao Qi and Awu inspire such loyalty. They're excellent at being strategic, whether they're together or apart. It's also great to see some others shine, like Huai En.
This drama series is like a great chess game. So many people, from all different angles, and the intrigues grab your attentions, keep your heart pulsating and keep you glued to your seat. The only mercy is wait. Wait until the next episode for the repletion of more of the same.
Oh that second prince plot twist I’m loving this drama so much I love how the cast are coordinated so well.. If guys love this, should also watch the rise of phoenixes!!
i can't believe how despicable her father is he didn't lift his little finger to help even after knowing she is in danger all he thinks about how to protect the capital (and thus himself) i hope Awu will soon see her father's uguly truth.
I very love the army matching scene with powerful the background music - the Mingshuo army is so regal and I am covinced that they are the mightiest army of all!

So I was able to watch up to episode 31 and omg it gets really good and some scene are so heartbreaking. The main leads went through some hardship together. I'm crying my eyes out but this drama is full of surprises I said it earlier and I'll say it again. It's one of the best drama I've seen in years.
Now I realize what her father meant when he said he wished she was a man instead of her brother... I can't summon any sympathy for the second prince (zilv) 🙄 everyone as their difficulty

High level of acting skill by both male and female lead, also the supporting cast. No adult female is acting like a five year old.
