Don't order a new battery until you take your trimmer apart. The video showed a Ni-MH battery and when I opened mine up I found a Ni-Cad battery. Different chemistry batteries usually have different chargers with different charging strategies.

I was sat on a chair with this trimmer on, dropped it and the motor went dead the second it touched the floor. If I plug the charger in, the red light flicks on but it will not switch on. Bummer since I've had it for years and I find the small blades useful as a secondary trimmer, but not useful enough to purchase a new one.

Looks like it's just 2 AA batteries in series. My battery pack went dead, this looks easy to work with so I'll replace the batteries.

It's same size as AA but it is NiMH. They have to be rechargable 1.2V, I happened to have two Panasonic Eneloop, they are over kill for this but I was not using them anymore for something else anyway.

I've bought two of these and both eventually stop charging...I took apart but have no idea how I could replace this type battery

You just take 2 AA batteries, rechargeable, solder a tab on the bottom linking them together in series then solder the ends to the board.

@@FroztiProductions The correct way is to spot weld the tabs on the batteries as the batteries will overheat with the soldering iron, however this is not a high end device, soldering is better than nothing, the batteries will have shorter life probably.
