As soon as I heard this I turned to my husband and said I couldn’t wait until your cover came out!
This is horrible

You know what your accapella's are always great what about a GOT accapella medley
Game of Thrones: We wrote a new song for the show...
Peter Hollens: Here’s my cover.
HAHAH! Well, I mean as long as you enjoy it! I'll keep doing it!!
Peter Hollens Haha of course...definitely keep doing it 😉 Awesome cover, man!
Peter should be in an Episode
@@PeterHollens I was waiting for this the second the episode ended thanks for making my wait a short one. Keep it up your songs are always amazing
Well tried. Honest feedback:
You made it into a more "musical" version. Sorry to say it's too slick for my taste. Would love to see you give it another shot, say, one octave lower and more stern, like good old Pod did.
You should take some of the poems from the Lord of the Rings and compose original tunes for them, also Aragorn's song from the end of the Return of the King would be cool.
Agreed
aragorn's song would be really awesome @@PeterHollens
++++++++
I can't agree with this more. I've heard a number of interpretations of the songs and poems from Tollkien's works. I would love to hear Peter's interpretations.
Berén and luthien woul be very nice!
This in the quickest song cover I've ever seen.....awesome job!
There were people who had covered the song an hour after the episode finished.
@@CrimsonCorgi not with this production value
@@huawafabe Thank you. I really appreciate you noticing. I could have easily uploaded me singing the song 5 minutes after I heard it, but I need to always try to give you my 110% best. Much love!
@@PeterHollens You're welcome, I love all of your videos. Not just your voice is brilliant, the videos look amazing with all the work you put in
Fabian Huber I made a bet about which UA-cam artist would get this song out first. Had my money on Peter but Ginny Di beat him out by three days.
Peter I support you but you gotta take the ending message off and just let it drift into silence I want to be depressed and contemplate in silence after the beautiful song
😂😂😂
I knew Podrick had dropped the hottest single in Westeros since "The Rains of Castamere."
The moment I heard this, my first thought was, "Peter had *better* cover this one!"
me too!
Dido
Who did it better?! j/k I think Podrick absolutely nailed it!
@@PeterHollens Personal preference, I say Podrick's was better, but yours was absolutely amazing! Florence and the machine's was good but a guys voice sounds better for this song.
@@PeterHollens A lot of this has to do with context. Podrick's placement in a dark hall- a personal, intimate, somber setting- adds a lot of power to his performance. Also, his version is a single voice. That simplicity and clarity really helps the richness of the experience.
I think I've mentioned this in a couple of other videos, but occasionally, I'd like to see you keep the secondary vocal tracks out of it. Concentrate on the lyrics and the power of a single voice.
That being said- this was extremely well done, and will certainly be added to my music library!
We heard the song on the show and my wife said, "tell me when he releases his cover" and she didn't even specify who "he" was, it was implicit.
It's gonna be hard to say goodbye to GOT.
Omg I know right!!!
Harry Naing I have watched not a one episode
You just had to remind me 😭😭
We never wanted to leave...
That and the Avengers.....it’s a hard time😰
I wanted the extended version of Podrick's cover. This is the closest I will get one. Thanks alot for making one ❤️❤️❤️
You should listen the version of Florence+TheMachine
It's beautiful
Same! Daniel Portman had such a lovely tenor voice. The Florence and the Machine version is good, but I wanted the full version w Podrick.
Baltic House Orchestra on Spotify is even closer to Pod's Version :)
@@Phamtto I disagree, Pod had more heart in the song. Florence sounds like she is trying to scream her way through it. It's just too generic
Yeah I much prefer the notes he sings in the repeated "never wanted to leave". All the covers sing it like Florence + the Machine.
“Jenny of Oldstones” Lyrics
High in the halls of the kings who are gone,
Jenny would dance with her ghosts.
The ones who she had lost and the ones she had found
And the ones who had loved her the most.
The ones who’d been gone for so very long,
She couldn’t remember their names
They spun her around on the damp old stones,
Spun away all her sorrow and pain.
And she never wanted to leave,
Never wanted to leave,
Never wanted to leave,
Never wanted to leave.
They danced through the day and into the night,
Through the snow that swept through the hall.
From winter to summer then winter again
’Til the walls did crumble and fall.
And she never wanted to leave,
Never wanted to leave,
Never wanted to leave,
Never wanted to leave.
And she never wanted to leave,
Never wanted to leave,
Never wanted to leave,
Never wanted to leave.
High in the halls of the kings who are gone,
Jenny would dance with her ghosts.
The ones who she had lost and the ones she had found
And the ones who had loved her the most.

GoT: *has new song*
Peter Hollens: fastest cover in the west
Your "Rains of Castamere" had haunted me for quite a long. New haunting now... Thanks
Can they just hire Peter to do a songs like they did with Ed Sheeran
How about this guy WITHOUT Ed Sheeran. It would be much better.
It could indeed be amazing for some of them. But I don't really fancy this cover tbh. It's way to light compared to what was in the show. In the show, you could really feel that death was approaching and that the characters were saying their goodbyes
That would be great, but I couldn't handle the reality that he would probably die.
It's somthing diffrent to cover a song and making one yourself.
Between Endgame and the next episode of GoT, I’m not gonna survive this weekend
I knew it! There's a song on GoT - there's a Hollens Cover. And! It's wonderful!!!
awwwww
I am torn between this version and the original version of the song. Great work as always.
You don't have to be torn! You can just enjoy both!! ;) ❤️
@@PeterHollens That's my plan because I love both versions! When is this going up on Spotify? I saw you uploaded a Newsies Medley on Spotify, is that what's coming up next? ;)
I'm pretty sure this is how Rhaegar sang it to Lyanna....making her cry and setting so much in motion. Beautiful!
This song was not about those two selfish dumbasses. It was about Duncan Targaryen and Jenny, a commoner that he married.
@@rosalinacv1996 It's not, but Rhaegar could still sing it to Lyanna. Considering he was skilled with harp and liked to spend time at Summerhall...
@@rosalinacv1996 Pretty sure Rhaegar wrote the song in the first place. He spends a lot of time in the ruins of Summerhall and he would have certainly met Jenny's woodswitch. Rhaegar could very well have sung that to Lyanna. After all, he was born in the midst of that tragedy as I'm sure you know.
@@rosalinacv1996 who do you think that wrote it? 👀...

Here's my version of Jenny's Song:
High in the halls of the kings who are gone
Jenny would dance with her ghosts
The ones she had lost and the ones she had found
And the ones who had loved her the most
The ones who'd been gone for so very long
She couldn't remember their names
They spun her around on the damp old stones
Spun away all her sorrow and pain
And she never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
She danced through the fire, she danced through the ice,
With the twisted swords scorned by the Throne;
Her duty for love was too steep a price
And her flowers now wither in woe.
And she never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
And she never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
A king with no chance trusted men of great heart.
His prince and the knight strong and tall,
They gathered to waken dragons from stone,
And by their own foolishness fall.
And she never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
And she never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
And she never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
Tears were no shield from the fires that raged,
From the dragons who stirred in their sleep,
Princes and kings lost to passions untamed
The night there were left only screams.
And she never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
And she never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
A child was born as the last dragon roared
And the summer slaughtered the snow
She whispered: “Sweet babe, a king shall you rise,
Your song, your future unknown.”
And she never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
And she never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
They danced through the day and into the night
Through the snow that swept through the hall
From winter to summer then winter again
'Til the walls did crumble and fall
And she never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
And she never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
The Children of Old and the Gods of the Trees,
And Others from sev’n hells ascend,
Men without eyes shall ne’er believe,
And their story will come to an end.
And they never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
And she never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
Never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
High in the halls of the kings who are gone
Jenny would dance with her ghosts
The ones she had lost and the ones she had found
And the ones who had loved her the most...

Bear and the Maiden Fair next? Maybe that’s what you meant at the end? Cause I’ve been waiting for that one, lol
Great job, especially with that timeline. Is it hard to keep on pitch when you're singing so softly there at the end? Sounded great.
Great cover!!! Would love to see a cover of "the dornishman's wife."
Ya know u are my inspiration?
You never disappoint! Awesome cover!
I think you should sing hotel California . try it . hope ya get this message. Have a wonderful day
Very nice, but it was a little too "bright" for my taste. I'd prefer a more minor/melancholy take on the song. Still, beautiful work.
@Kaerlyss What do you think of this? A bit rough around the edges I know but interested to hear your opinion ua-cam.com/video/CO3Sd7LmJgY/v-deo.html
Have you listened to the Florence and the Machine version? It was at the end of the episode. As soon as I heard Florence Welch's voice I freaked out, she is one of my favorite artists. Her voice gives a haunting tone to it, a slight pain and longing.
Beautiful cover, but this is the type of song I like in its simple, imperfect original form. Your performance is stellar as always, but not hitting the right emotional note for me...
Always epic...Peter has such a haunting voice. Thank you for always inspiring your fellow musicians to go for it themselves! You are apparantly quite versed in Podrick's magic tongue.

This is amazing! You really paint the images with your words. The last line where it Jenny is dancing with her ghosts kind of reminded me of "Once Upon a December" from Anastasia... Maybe it's because to me it feels like it has a waltz like beat?
