You know one of the heroes of our time (though I think he's perhaps too reluctant to take on the role) Trevor Noah.
I still wish he'd passed the torch to Roy Wood Jr. More of that reluctance to take up the call. But so am I in too many ways, I know. We do our best, but I just want people to know there is hope, and a portion of that potential is in each of us. Solidarity fellow Earthlings!❤🌍🌎🌏🌐

He expected a certain pattern of behavior from her, and she didn't display it. Some pattern that is his trigger. I don't really know anything about his case, but I do understand aberrant psychology. When she didn't exhibit the pattern, he couldn't dehumanize her completely. For whatever reason, she didn't fit in the mental stereotype that he had constructed to represent his victims and in some twisted fashion allow him to rationalize what he was doing. I don't know if he had a history or rejection, but it wouldn't surprise me. Maybe he didn't receive the rejection he expected, and that rejection was what it took to trigger his violent reaction. Like the proverbial dog that catches the car, he didn't know what to do, so he just let her go.
