I like your videos because they are simple to the point. You’re not trying to be a comedian and you don’t take a 3 minute topic and make it 20 minutes.
Dropping out of law school to pursue dream of becoming a professional drywall repairman, was met with skepticism within the family, until I showed them Paul's UA-cam videos and now they've all subscribed ... and you should too!
Just a word of thanks; I used your technique to apply a matching stomp pattern on a small ceiling repair. This 70 yr. old fellow gained some new confidence.😊
This was a great video, Thank you! I started by mixing this into a 5 gal Home Depot bucket: - 1 gal premix light weight joint compound - 2/3 cup of water I mixed with a drill and mixer. I added additional water 1/8 cup at a time until I was able to get the "Pancake Batter" consistency. I used a 3/4" nap to roll the mixture onto the ceiling. I only needed to cover about 7 sq feet. I would guess that the one gallon of premix could ultimately cover about 14 sq feet of ceiling.
Had to repair a small patch of my kitchen ceiling and was scratching my head at how to match the dumb texture! So glad I found this. I actually improvised a bit further and used a plastic scrubber - it did the job and matched the texture to my satisfaction anyway lol. Thanks a million
Had to patch a textured lath and plaster ceiling. Matching the existing texture with the crow foot texture brush was the easiest part of the job--after watching this video. Thanks!
I just wanted to thank you Paul for showing us DIYers something new. This will be my first adventure in the drywall world and you have definitely put my mind at ease to take on this celing repair I have to tackle. Your attention to detail and step by step explanation is very professional. I have all your vids saved ready to take this on. Big thanks to you and Dave!!! Your the MAN!!! #Drywalltube
This is outstanding advice and worked exceptionally well for me this afternoon after a drywall repair. I very much appreciate the post! Thanks so much!
Hi Paul, I have water damage on the ceiling of an older mobile home. The ceiling is not drywall. It runs width wise and is 14 ft long. It has a unique lined pattern and 1 inch stripping between each length. I have no idea how to match the pattern. I am a novice DIYer. Help!
Thank you. I found this helpful being I needed to repair a square foot area myself. Cleveland Ohio. I couldn’t get anyone out to do this small of a job.
Perfect! I had to have a section of ceiling cut out to fix a leaking pipe and I had no idea how to try and match the texture in the ceiling - now I know! Many thanks for thIs straightforward video! Just what I needed!
Drywall tube. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge.I have been forced to learn the art of sheetrocking and finishing so I'm constantly watching your videos.
Amazing content. Super helpful and informative. I knew nothing about drywall or mud and skimming until watching your videos and they have helped me Sheetrock and mud and skim a 1500sq ft basement. Everything turned out amazing. Appreciate your work and contribution to those wanting to save money by doing things ourselves.
I've dont a lot of textures, even big stomp texture. But not this type. I live in Georgia and they have this all over on the ceilings. Looks easier than I thought. Thanks.
This is a great video. I have learned over the years to call a pro like yourself a bigger job like a a room or two. I just have a 1 by 2 foot ceiling patch, I will give it a try. Thanks.
I did a repair on my old farm house with the spiky texture like this. Been looking for a video for a bit that explains how to match this texture without a bunch of extra work to the ceiling. I haven't done the texture yet but everything you explain makes sense and will attempt the texture on the 4x8 replacement section in the next couple days. Thank you!
Very good tips. Just did a bunch of stomp. It's very common in Old Denver homes but like Donkey I dipped the entire broom head in it. Finally matched it after lots of sanding and "doctoring up". But THIS video makes it much faster next time. Thank YOU Sir 👍
#drywalltube Thanks so much for this excellent video Paul! It's been 30 years since I built my house and worked with drywall. At that time we subbed out the hanging, taping and texture. We did all of the work in a couple rooms upstairs a few years later but I had my mud guy do the tape and texture. At the time he gave me a lesson with a crows foot but it's been 30 years and I'd forgotten the name of the brush and the nuances. I'm in another house now and we just had a plumber come in to replace valves and plumbing for a new washer/dryer. He had to make a 2' by 4' cut to get to the pipes and install a new box and valves. I have 3 days to get this repair done before the washer and dryer come. I'm driving into town tomorrow to get a 'crows foot'. I'm excited to get this tool as I've done other small repairs and have never been satisfied with my blending work. If I had to call someone to do this latest repair it would have cost me between $450 - $600 with an up-charge because I live 20 miles out of town. Thanks for helping me to save $ and feel good about DIYing it myself!
Thanks!!! Our 1992 ceilings are not knock down and have asked numerous painters what "pattern" I am trying to match. Now to find the brush - definite confidence booster! The man who did the drywall patch in our ceiling did not leave it perfectly smooth bc we all agreed that since the ceiling was "textured" it would not be necessary - do I need to sand it down?
#drywall. “Fantasticwork!” I’m a handyman who would like to learn as much as I can about drywall repair and texturing. I’ve been watching your videos for a few months and I feel that I am learning a great deal. Keep making these excellent and I’ll keep learning. Thanks!
I appreciate that Richard! I'm super stoked that my videos are helping you hone in your drywall skills for your handyman business! That's absolutley awesome! Thanks so much for watching and subscribing! -Paul
Love it just purchased a text master to do my sister ceiling I replace one 12 foot sheet in her bedroom and out in the garage and I needed to know how to do this texture and you the man thanks
Drywall tube... ha ha thanks man! I'm a plumber and electrician by trade, but I'm not the most experienced person when it comes to compound and/or plaster. My biggest issue has been matching the repair material with the preexisting material.. for some reason the compound usually looks more fluffy and loose than the stuff I'm trying to match..I'm gonna start using more water now that I see what you're doing This is great! Thanks again
I like the technique u used riding ur pan with ur trowel to catch drop off in the pre video clip, overall very clean work. I do all kinds of repairs. Termite repair water damage repair and I had to learn a lot of techniques by watching videos like this glad I found ur channel new sub
Thank you for these videos I repaired a very large section where my handler in the attic was over flowing and damaged not only the drywall but the ceiling fan as well!! What a mess.... Thanks from Atlanta Ga.
Nice work and great photography LOL. I really like the look of that crows foot texture. I actually saw it in my friends condo in Colorado so I guess it was used quite a bit in the past. Does anyone still request it? I know out west most walls are not textured at all so it was unusual to see the condo with the texture.
#drywalltube #drywalltube watched it twice. Nice too the point video. Thanks for making it. I'm not a drywall man but a remodeler and always end up doing some drywall touch up. We've had a few jobs recently with crowsfooting and I figured i'd try to catch a few pointers. You got a new subscriber.
Drywall tube awesome I was just trying to figure out what I had I know it's not the knockdown because this is an older house in the 90s in Texas it is basically the stomp or the crow's feet but not quite the crow's feet so it's in between probably cuz it's like 30 years old thank you for showing me how to get the exact match appreciate it

Mr Peck, We did a wall and guess what was on the current wall? ... Yep, crows feet all over, you know you the first I thought about and Thank goodness because i ran to Lowe's and grabbed a couple of those yellow stipple brushes, I'm going back for the one like yours. I’ve done plenty of drywall repair but I’ve only ever had to work with Orange Peel. This is what I needed to know for my next project. Thank you! Ohh and what’s that round flat brush thing called, a stomper?
Great vid. I do decks & fencing, and some home repairs. A friends kitchen was destroyed by a backed up drain and will have to stipple part of the ceiling. Will also have to replace some of the sheetrock on the walls. I'm concerned about getting the seams right so they are not noticable. I will check out your channel to see if you have any videos about that.
