No matter how many times I watch this, never get tired of it. Amazing.
Heard this in '93. Been saying the same thing. Amazing!!!!!
Dizzy was one of the real masters in knowing how to group musicians together.
This is one of the greatest concerts ever recorded!
best recorded latin jazz orchestra concert ever!
This is the greatest collection of Latin Jazz talent on the same stage for all time. I'm glad it was recorded so we can enjoy it today. Every musician has headlined their own band and are masters of their instruments, and I just wonder how fun their rehearsals were! Truly a magical event!
RIP. Claudio Roditi.
I was there! I can't believe it was thirty years ago
Lucky you, sir.
Me too. Took my old man (RIP) for a Father's Day present. Must have been June time. Not the full concert though despite what it says. Flora sang at least one more number and Airto had a long solo spot in which he quite literally made a tamborine "talk".
You had to have been blown away. How exciting to have witnessed some of the most iconic musical performers in history.
Mighty Dizzy! Every melody makes me want to cry, the whole concert was so great that is rare today, not only the lineup, but also the music!
1:08:40 "It has withstood the vicissitudes of the contingent world, and moved, in an odyssey, into the realm of the metaphysical." That's a great way to describe 'A Night in Tunisia'.
I am really impressed by the jazz vocals that Flora Purim provided.
This is not a video. It's a document.
I was at this gig and it was simply amazing. I bought tickets for the next tour but alas Dizzy passed away. I will never forget this gig, happy memories that I will cherish forever.
I was 9 when I watched it for the first time - with my father. Now I'm 20, it's still one of my favorite concerts, and I still shiver the same way. They're all amazing, I love them all !! ❤
That lick at 26:47 is UNDEFEATED. I first heard it in 2011, and I still remember it perfectly. And I STILL find myself whistling it occasionally.
This dude was actually playing cockle shells! Like the Mayans and the Aztecs
Saw Dizzy with the UN Orchestra at Carnegie Hall…..so good. It was a brilliant assembly of musicians led by a gifted leader.
Un des plus grands concert de tous les temps réunissant d'incroyables talents autour de la légende Dizzy! Phénoménal!
Si😅
This is my second big dog!!!!😃 In front of him is only Charlie Parker. The biggest dog!!! Then came Elvis and the rest is history
I love this classic concertt performances!!!
What Great Performers. These Are the Top Notch Players in the Business. Arturo Sandoval is 1. of My Favorite Horn Players Who Really Hits Those High Notes Like NO 1. Can. Every Song He Has Ever Done is Really Good. There is Nothing Like Him. These Artist, Are Beyond Talented and in Top Form.
Loved Claudio roditi also😊

CUANDO SE HACIA MUSICA RIKA!
The drummer's solo at 40:41 still kills me to this day (I first heard this in the early/mid 90s). I want to learn that riff.
Muito bom!!
Супер!!!
Arturo Sandoval is a unicorn. There's only 1 of him on God's green Earth. There isn't anyone else that an duplicate his feats on this album. Poor Dizzy (RIP). Arturo him look his age on some of those duets & Claudio's decent but looked 3rd rate next to Arturo. We can all practice as much as we want, unfortunately he's the only one given the God given ability to do what he does w/ that horn. That's beyond talent & the next guy that may be able to duplicate some of that insanity probably isn't born yet. The guy is truly out of this world. I've been listening to this album since it came out on CD back in 1989 - 1990. Does not get old, ever! Oh, & Paquito, love his improv. He hits the right notes @ the right time. I really enjoy his improv style.
Manuel Blanco well said. I agree 100%
And maybe some cocaine :)he had
Dizzy was already an old man in this concert. Arturo would be the one looking third rate if Dizzy was at his best.
No sabes de musica. Arturo es rapido y tecnico pero toca puros licks de memoria.
I agree Arturo is a unicorn.. but Roditi holds his own in my opinion. He doesn't soar like Sandoval, but there is a solidity to his playing that Sandoval can't match in some ways. Roditi swings as hard as anyone - it's assertive, well-placed and well-played improvisation. Roditi is like Ares to Sandoval's Hermes...
The ballad is ESQUINAS by Djavan
Did anyone see Dizzy Gillespie in Ljubljana around 1992, with Flora Purim and Riviera and many more of the same artists like in this recorded concert-video
Also representing America is James Moody❤
11:05
airto moreira estorando a boca do balao
20:23
2:23 start sample
41:18🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂
I thought it was a joke at 1:02:15 but the resulting jam jam they created at 1:06:09 was amazing and unexpected
1:15:37
初っ端のTpからもうおかしいのよ
Y ¿Quienes son los 17 hijos de su mala madre que no les gusto? Mucha música para ellos.... 😃
Imagine if Charlie Parker would have survived it would have been He on Alto instead of paquito de Rivera😊
This concert would have been perfect with Sonny Stitt and Clark Terry instead of De Rivera and Sandoval who are only concerned to display their technique...
You may have a good point.
The usual crap I hear… what makes jazz so brilliant is everyone is different. I take it that Oscar Peterson was only concerned with ‘displaying his technique’ too.
