I feel like everyone either absolutely loved or absolutely hated playing as Atreus with no in between, personally I really loved it just cause it was a nice switch up from Kratos’s hack and slash combat. Genuinely the only complaint I have with Atreus and really just the game in general is that sequence in Ironwood, that shit went on for waaayyy too goddamn long, should’ve been broken up
The Max Payne gameplay style doesn't fit the bows and arrow gameplay. The Iron wood section was too long and at the end there was no pay off for him being Loki.

You forgot to mention how easy it is to get lost in a Vanaheim when you’re looking for the dragur pit, and even when you find it, you’ll spend hours running around in circles trying to get out because you’re nowhere near a gateway. (The trick is to remember where everything is, and don't use the compass)
I have to disagree about playing as Artreus. I actually had a blast playing as him, and would definitely play the game a couple more times. While playing as MJ and Miles was the worst experience in the 2018 Spider-Man game making me barely be able to get through a second playthrough without falling asleep.
Most Atreus sections were hype and introduced probably the best archer-brawler moveset i've ever seen in a game. Faye dreams barely amount to 15 minutes instead of hours.
I don't know, I was bored almost every time I played as him. His quest to search for the McGuffins felt like the writers didn't know what to do with him, especially when that mask doesn't exist in Norse mythology. None of his battles were difficult either. I think it would have been best if we didn't play as him at all.

Looks at GOW sales and awards and also at Pokemon and FIFA. Releasing very similar games works like a charm for the one who makes them. Sequels tend to sell better than their predecessors.

The Atreus sections were really good. He's alot more diplomatic than Kratos so meeting with the bad guys becomes a fun deep dive into their relationships. No way Kratos was buddy-cop adventuring with Thor...
It’s also an insight into how emotionally abusive Odin is, seeing the All Father try to work his manipulation on Atreus. He’s the worst kind of monster, an abusive parent.

I get side companion missions aren't for everyone but Atreus' missions are LEAGUES better than those useless MJ missions. I actually enjoyed playing Atreus' missions.
This Atreus hate from this video is CRAZY I haven’t heard any complaints on his missions (besides the ironwood one which I agree with). I really did despise the MJ missions tho so I wouldn’t compare them to the Atreus ones.
The issue with playing as Atreus is that fighting waves of monsters with his little bow sucks. It’s not as strong as any of Kratos’ weapons but the monsters are the same levels, so it takes much longer to kill them.
My only gripe about the parts where I played as Atreus, was that I didn't get to so with Kratos fighting alongside him. It would have been dope as hell to have him as a companion launching his axe or spears on commands and it'd have been the ultimate thematic climax of him growing to trust his son's decisions by letting him take the lead.

Visually stunning, characters and relationships great, weapons good, story...done well. Pacing though, this game takes forever to go anywhere, even the longest journey didn't take this long, and the battles are not bad, but they didn't feel like boss battles if you ask me. They felt more like oh yeah we are a fighting game so here something to fight. Nothing like the original three.
The pacing wasn't bad. People just can't handle things that don't go breakneck pace all the time like the original games. And most of the time people bring up boss battles they think of gow 3 but the first 2 had no where near the level of crazy boss battles the 3rd one had.

The games environments were completely remade from the bottom up, and then added four completely new realms too that as well. Playing as Atreus is so much fun, and not at all like the shitty MJ sections from Spiderman. Calling Ragnarok "the last one with different monsters" is like calling every sequel ever "the last one with different words."
