Your intellect amazes me! I have a question for you. I noticed that the car was lower on left rear, didnt think about it and a week later the car was so low that I didnt want to drive it anymore. I changed the kompressor myself and the car was fine again. 3 days later, same problem. So I'm sure there is a bad leak in the strut, and it's not on the top of the strut. How does one find leaks in rear struts? I noticed a dark wet spot on the lower part of the strutcover.
Thank you so much for your clarity as you teach us about the airmatic suspension system on the w220. I now have a much better understanding of this system and maybe able to dignose and possibly repair myself...Thank you very much for your videos and your time on the subject...MIke A.
Dear Sir, I'm hoping you can help me with my w220 airmatic issue. After parking the vehicle and about a couple of hours later the rear of the car rises up about three or four inches. where would you sugest I look first? this would be bouth rear struts. Thank you Sir.
Very good info thanks for insight in technique, My dads W219 Front left bellow probably is blown (on vacation...bummer) so i try to manage some parts now,
I haven't turned on my airmatic in a long time. so today I did and now it won't cut off, even after car is off. you can hear the humming noise at the front passenger tire
Front of my car is on the ground...pump is 1 year old, valve block is new, fuse and relays are new and the pump won't turn on I'm at my wit's end with this thing
Thanks very much for these detailed videos they were ver helpful . I have S350 w221 2009 model a bit diffrent but the same principle I am now trying to fix the suspensions from the ideas I got from your videos . So thanks again .... Hamid
I have the same exact car, been following your videos, i took down the pump and control valve, did all the tests, they were working well. Checked the relay last, putting the light on it etc, light doesnt come on. What has me bothered tho is that im quite certain the pump was working when I first bought the car a week ago, It only seems like the relay suddenly went bad when i took the pump and control valve out. Also, I was expecting videos from you on testing for leaks now on the struts etc. Did i miss them somewhere ?:D
Great videos thank you very much! My car s500 2003 has just now very similar problems. It started with not raising the car . My mechanic friend started to work on it and (he did not have experience on this model ) so he found that one of the amp the 150 amp was gone and one of the cable at the fuse box under the passenger seat was burnt too. Before that he tried to raise manually the sides by the computer he attached to but it just lifted a little. He took out the compressor and tested it but it was working just got a little hot. Now he changed the 150 amp and the relay he put back the compressor too , but I realized that the car at the right back is higher after I parked it . Also the pump works too many times than it supposed to while I drive it. Do you think if he goes through of the same process you mentioned on the these videos we could find the problems? I appreciate your reply and looking forward to it!! Thank you!
+rhpianist Hi, Glad you found the video useful. I think I know what the issue is. I can’t say for 100% without doing the work myself. Here are my views. You will notice there is a small plastic arm, which connects to the strut. This arm connects to a potentiometer, which has wires connected to it. In a nutshell as the strut moves (raised or lowered) the arm moves with it and gives different resistance readings to the cars computer. Based on this information the computer can decide to open the valve for the strut or close it. This arm can be seen if you take the tyre off. When the computer opens the valve it also checks for the pressure in the air tank. If the pressure is low or significant raise is required the pump runs for longer. Sometimes it is just wrong setting in the computer in other cases there is a leak and the system has to run longer to sustain pressure. Often when the system is disconnected while two or more of the struts are under load the system goes out of calibration. To calibrate is you have to connect to Star system where each strut position value is recorded as voltage. When you connect you will find that the voltage values from the potentiometer readings are not in sync. You simply alter these on the computer and save them and the issue should be fixed. I have had one instance, where I had the same issue and I fixed it with Star system. I hope this information helps you resolve the problem. Regards Waqas

interesting series of videos, I liked your clear explanations. Are you going to release a video on how you repaired the strut?

dont forget to take photos , before playing with Airmatic have fun :)
I dont have 12 volt at the kompresor Connect! 🤔🙈

hi...will a defective EIS on a 2001 MB S430 W220 cause instrument cluster, AAC and Airsuspension (in my case, the front end) to fail?
