A nice problem would be to generalize this to find all x s.t. Sin^2(x) - Sin^2(2x) - Sin^2(4x) = -1/2 you can show that Cos^2(x) - Cos^2(2x) - Cos^2(4x) intersects the sine one always on y = -1/2

Hi Flammable Maths, I hope you have no hard feelings and my apology for suggesting another solution to the problem. I appreciate your teaching us on the wonderful aspect of mathematics. Keep up the good work and I will look forward to your interesting coaching on many topics of mathematics. 🙏

You can actually let Yourself to write on Your T-shirt the full differential eqn of simple pendulum, because You have already explained the full solution on Your channel. Best regards
man, just replace each sin^2(x) term with (1-cos(2x))/2 and you quickly see that you only need to prove cos(80)+cos(40)-cos(20) must be zero. and that is trivial. just convert the first two terms into multiplication and it is directly equal to the last term, done. the whole thing takes maybe 2 minutes and in 4 lines

Please take a look at this, Imagine a cube of side 10 cm. And you start cutting from all dimensions by halve. So you end up with 4 cubes of 5 cm side. Repeat with one of the cubes. So you end up cubes of 2.5 cm side. Lets calculate when the side reaches 0 cm The division is geometric. So we use the formula Un = a. r^n-1 un=0 a= 10 r=0.5 0= 10. This just looks like a version of Zeno's Paradox, with a religious appeal appended to the end. From a modern mathematical standpoint Zeno's Paradox and its cousins just aren't interesting since we have the delta-epsilon definition of a limit and all the properties of limits which can be extrapolated from that definition. From a historic standpoint there are some interesting arguments used prior to the delta-epsilon limit, such as Archimedes and his Method of Exhaustion.

I would prove it by this way:
LHS = sin²10 - sin²20 - sin²40
= (1 - cos20)/2 - (1 - cos40)/2 - (1 - cos80)/2
= (-cos20 + cos40 + cos80 - 1)/2
= (cos40 - 2sin50sin30 -1)/2
= (cos40 - sin50 - 1)/2
= -1/2 = RHS (Since cos40 = sin50).
How did u go from line 1 to 2?
@@syphax2207 You can take the double angle formula cos(2x) = 1-2*sin^2(x) and rearrange that into sin^2(x) = (1-cos(2x))/2
