    Dave Grohl had a good story from this years Glastonbury.
    “You know my favourite moment of the whole night?” Grohl continued, adding: “Five minutes before we go onstage, Liam fuckin’ Gallagher wanders in. He goes straight over to Taylor and says, ‘That fuckin’ song - ‘Range Rover Bitch’!’ Then he starts singing a song from Taylor’s solo record. Then he turns round to me and goes, ‘And your shit’s alright, too!’ Taylor had nerves about tonight because everyone made such a big deal about this show, but he walked onstage with the biggest fucking smile…”

    I can kind of relate to this. When I heard Definitely Maybe I went from being ‘only’ a metal fan, to accepting Oasis, and eventually to liking them. Same I loved metal & grunge, still do but Oasis changed music in sone ways. Ok they had their influences but they also had their own thing going on. Cigarettes and alcohol, live forever, bring it on down, my big mouth, I hope I think I know etc.. etc…is essentially their sound, the oasis sound & they don’t get enough credit for that. I think you ok d of hear everything in them which is why I like them. There’s the Beatles, pistols, T-Rex, kinks etc… all in there. Liams a good lad too at heart despite all his bravado that he really plays up to. Great band.

      @Dude Sweet I think that’s what was good about oasis tho right? I mean especially at the time when you had a bunch of posher, I guess in comparison, more complicated stuff coming from other bands from London and whatnot and here comes 5 Manchester lads from council estates who can string some chords together and make rock anthems that related to the common person, it was an untapped market at the time and nowadays it’s evolved into classics so it’s more accessible. I think if oasis wasn’t so basic and easy to play along with or sing along with they wouldn’t have been nearly as popular

    @fizzzzaa1 3 роки тому +34

    Because Tom started listening to other genres after this incident, you could argue that Liam Gallagher was a catalyst for the eventual demise of Blink 182. Tom's music tastes evolved over the years and eventuated in the self titled album - which included a homage to John Lennon in the form of Asthenia - "it's easy if you try". Gallagher just happened to also idolise John Lennon.
    Eventually Tom grew tired of punk rock and formed Angels and Airwaves, which cause a rift between band members. If this incident didn't happen, who knows, maybe Blink would still be together in its original form replaying classic punk rock hits from the 90s.

    • @pantsnjacket381
      @pantsnjacket381 3 роки тому +5

      No. Tension over control and touring caused the band split, not Angels and Airwaves. Tom wanted to quit touring to go home with his kids and wife and rest for 3 months, Mark and Travis wanted to finish schedules (keep touring).
      Tom had enough of bandmates not being in his position (that they became parents around that time too) and just exited the band via his manager. He already was pardoned by Mark, who was the one "left out" (but felt "betrayed" as he didn't find out about his bandmate's sideproject from him, but through e-mails between Delonge and the label) of the Box Car Racer thing in '02, although he was featured in one song.
      But then Tom created Angels and Airwaves and guess what? Recorded, released and toured albums on his terms right after. It was definitely about control.
