Enjoyed the rebuilding of the Farmall tractor. Good job! t reminded me when I rebuilt on our farm the Allis Chambers C completely as a teenager. It was the most used tractor on the farm. The most exciting tractor project was the total tear apart and reassembly of a 24 Volt JD 100 HP tractor when attending the UW Farm Short Course Tractor Engineering Laboratory class. Almost didn't get it back together and I would have failed the class.
When I work on wiring systems I'd like to take a picture that way IAI can look back at the picture to see where things go and how they were and It works good for me thank you very much
this is fascinating.. I'm glad it's recorded for posterity. It's eerie that nobody had to crawl under the tractor to pick up tiny dropped parts.. especially tiny parts.
Great job Danny. I do the same thing when tearing anything apart. Especially wiring, when setting it aside I temporarily re-install pieces so I don't forget how it goes back together. My wife of 42 years says I have O.C.D. Seems everything has a label now days. Your gonna have a a tractor thats better than brand new when finished.
I have found brass nuts and stove bolts at either Lowe’s or Home Depot. It’s probably a 10-24. There’s a small section of brass fasteners. Tractor Supply might have some as well, but theirs may be in the drawer section.
Thank you so much for your wisdom and skills. I am in the process of rewiring a 1960 farmall cub using a wire harness. I know almost nothing about tractors, electronics or mechanics, but I decided over the summer to give it a try. Cleaning off more than 40 years of dirt, grime and grease has become therapeutic for me. I guess sooner or later I'll need to get down to rewiring because there's a three acre field behind our home that needs to be knocked down and then mowed. Your video just might get me through all this. I hope so. You've been an inspiration to me, so thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge.
I have never enjoyed a video more than I do yours and Ms. Wanda's. I was disappointed somewhat as I was going to use this TITLED- "Complete Rewiring of a cub" as my example, and to rewire mine as it is in same condition for the wiring as yours was. Then you and Wanda said you were not going to show every wire being redone, ONLY just a few which was great. But for all of us who are trying to master a Farmall Cub problems and getting it redone proper it would sure would have been fantastic video if you had went all the way as the title of video says and done the "Complete Re-wiring of a F-Cub Farmall Tractor. It causes me to be really hesitant in started to re-do it on mine as I do not know at all where all the rest starts and ends for the existing wires. Thanks Danny and Keep those great VIDEOS coming to us.Doug
Did you know that they do make shrink tubing with an adhesive in it? When you shrink it with heat, the adhesive makes a nice seal and keeps the insulation from pulling back, exposing the copper.
When you replaced all the grease zerks I hope you poked a small punch through the hole first to clean out the path for the grease. I am rebuilding an old disc plow right now and did the same, but literally had to hammer a small punch through to knock out the old dirty, dried grease. Nice job on the wiring, now come do it on my '85 massey, thats where I'm stuck! Ha! Waiting on bearing assembly to finish plow, like new when when I'm done, paid $200, $105 in bearing and 4 discs, prep and paint. Will work another 50 years. Take care guys.
Danny REALLY NEEDS to get himself a shop so Wanda can get her canning kitchen back! I know, too many projects for the time, energy, and funds available…
im not sure how to say this without sounding like a terrible person, but i wish i knew someone who had had a quarter of your knowledge, talent and desire to do right by Miss Wanda.
Any of the 6v will work as long as it's not a golf cart battery. But the common 6v battery may not let the battery top bolt down. Rural king, batteries plus, TSC, Agrisupply usually always have them in stock.
@@DeepSouthHomestead there was at my TSC last time I went there and looked. I'm actually standing in one now. They have one and it's marked 50% off too! Maybe cause there getting rid of it, maybe cause it needs to be sold being produced last year. Hate this want last year when I needed one...I was going to say hate I don't need one but I am kind of glad cause I'd have to spend that money even if it's half off.
Cool , Yea all those extra splices in the wires would only lead to future issues .The new wires will be nice . I like using Star Washers on all electrical connections when i can .
Great video. Question: thought 1950 models had a cut out vs volt regulator. Did you "upgrade " to VR? If so, why. I am renovating mine (serial 101890) which currently does not have a generator. Have purchased a working older one and it has a cutout. Any reason to upgrade to VR? Thanks
Hey guys . I’m so excited I bought my first ever famall club today . And Danny I hope I can follow your videos and do some repairs on mine . One thing I’m not sure of is where did you all get your parts from . I think mine is in the 40 s according to the guy I got it from . I know the lights don’t work and most likely I will have to change my wiring. My I’d plate is in bad shape also . Glad I saw how Danny took his off . If you will let me know where you get the parts from , and by using the motor numbers and other numbers where did he go to fine the date of the tractor. Thanks Bart And my radiator looks like it’s leaking . Did you replace yours and do they have them where you getting your parts .
Hi, Where does the red wire go on the starter where u removed the battery cable.?? I only see two different colors of wires used to require it. RED & Yellow plus the Black Starter cable. Is this the only colors it takes t completely re-wire a Farmall Cub. Mine is a 1952 IH F-CUB is this all the colors I need for it.Thanks....
It is always a bad idea to tie ignition wires in a manner they are touching. They will short across sooner or later. Some will when new. If you look at a car you will see brackets that keep the wires from touching each other and metal parts of the engine. Oh that crescent wrench.
Hi Danny can u send me a diagram I’m using negative ground I need to wire voltage regulator and ammeter also need to know about polarizing voltage regulator
Thank you Mr Danny. Videos still being used by those of us who are just starting out on our Cub journey. Have a blessed evening.
You’re killing me with that adjustable wrench lol
Yeah it was just handy while filming.
Can't wait to see it run!
Good morning this is another great video on rewiring electrical work on your tractor very good information on how to do it correctly.
OUTSTANDING JOB DANNY JUST LIKE A NEW TRACTOR NOW
Good morning!♥️ I get so excited to hear from you guys, and your homestead sounds, in the background.

Nice rig!! Great job on that. It takes a lot of time and money to restore one completely like you have.

Ah, you did find the tubing. Nice job Danny! You’re even following correct wire gauges. 👍
Reminds me when I was a kid fixing everything with a fix all wrenches, creasing, screwdriver, and pliers no metric 👍
Show room quality. The work you have done is incredible. Beautiful

You’re almost ready for the decals.

I am reminded of a quote attributed to Michelangelo, “Perfection is comprised of many details, but perfection itself is NO DETAIL.”
You got me wanting an old farmall, but my kubota’s will be jealous
Mine is jealous seeing me spend so much time with the cub.
Danny, I have really enjoyed watching your cub series. I have a '52 I plan to go through this coming winter. You have me looking forward to doing so!
Project well worth it.
Good job there Danny.
I started using a product called liquid tape a while back. A little messy at times, but hasn't failed me yet. Even in high damp areas.
Just found your video’s, been watching all day! Love your Cub, got one myself does all I need.

Good morning Mr. Danny 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Great video! My dad has an old super A that needs to be rewired. This was very helpful. Thank you
Wiring should be basically the same.
That tractor is hot, red hot, if I might say beautiful! Wanda says hope it runs and backs up out of her kitchen!
Lol😄

We use to call that “tinking tite”, because of the sound it made when it broke loose.
That is a sharp looking Cub
Danny REALLY NEEDS to get himself a shop so Wanda can get her canning kitchen back! I know, too many projects for the time, energy, and funds available…
Man i wish i could get my hands on one of these tractors
We changed to 12 volt in NY, because the 6 volt was challenging to start in cold weather. Down south, 6 volt should be fine.
Dang tractor is almost as old as me. They don't make em that tough anymore.
A little silicone sealant in the end of the sta-con will keep out debris.
great tips ,,,have a 62 ,,,need to find parts and will be getting back to par
Morning y’all
Morning
Well thought out, good job.
im not sure how to say this without sounding like a terrible person, but i wish i knew someone who had had a quarter of your knowledge, talent and desire to do right by Miss Wanda.
Looks like I need to pull mine in the barn and do the same thing mine is very original and in very rough shape
You might be able to find some vinyl tubing to run the multi wires thru.
🚜 it will be like a brand new one
Yep.
Any of the 6v will work as long as it's not a golf cart battery. But the common 6v battery may not let the battery top bolt down. Rural king, batteries plus, TSC, Agrisupply usually always have them in stock.
I went to tractor supply and they don't carry 6 volt batteries any more.

Totally off topic, but I got my T-shirt! I love it! It’s a great color. Is the house in the front yours? It’s beautiful!
Yes it is.

That light switch controls the charging of the tractor as well as the lights. High /low dim and bright , low charge and high charge .
Interesting the manual mentioned nothing about this.
Don’t need to remember u have it on video lol 👍
very neat,, I love neat
get this man a set of nut drivers!
Did you put a new grease fitting in the throw out bearing? Don't forget about hitting that one as required.
Yes plus a new throw out bearing.
I always take a picture before unwiring
Good job but I would use a nut knocker instead of an adjustable. I know you probably have a set of nut knockers.
Yeah just grabbed what was handy while filming.
How did you get your paint looking so good

Does that switch do front, back and then both? My Farmall had one that included a charging position.
It does the rear light to.

Got most of my parts from Steiners and Burch tractor company.
you shouldn't ziptie your plug wires together like that it may after it warms up could ark across from wire to wire
Waiting on the Spacer's for the wire's.

👍
Where are you getting most of your parts? Dealer over your way?
Online from Steiner's and Burch tractor store.

I have a video showing this.
@@DeepSouthHomestead I got it figured out thanks for the reply
Mornin' ya'll!! Shabbat Shalom! Danny, I was wondering if someone made an electronic ignition kit.
Yes they do.
Pertronix makes an electronic ignition kit. Fits under the factory cap.
You gonna name it?
Probably.
Wiring: my least favorite thing
They don't make stuff like they used to
