Answer has been Miata for me for 15 years (mostly). First got a 2001 LS, then a 90 with the 1.6 (brilliant-probably the best version), an RX-8, then an NC in 2007. Just bought the ND last week! I really like the NC better than some others, but the ND is just a lighter version that looks better and goes like a rocket ship. It has so much more torque than the older ones. They're all great of course.
I'm saving up for a Miata. I have a Hyundai i10 with no problems so far, but I really want a "fun" car. I will probably miss the good gas mileage tho, but seeing this guy smile while flooring it made me want this car even more.
I have a 91 NA Miata totally stock and I love it :) Great review as usual. MT had a video recently comparing the NA to the ND and they picked the NA over the ND! I thought that was kind cool but discouraging considering I've been thinking about buying an ND lol

Thanks for the honest review! This Miata is SUPER clean!!! Not 100% stock, but pretty close (those chrome "style bars" behind the seats are aftermarket for sure). My channel showcases my '97 Miata, and I know quite a lot about them. To the owner, Ryan, if you're reading this, please consider swapping out your radiator. Even if you swap it with another stock radiator to keep it stock. Those plastic radiators are black from the factory. When the plastic starts to break down due to age, they turn a greenish brown color...like yours. It's only a matter of time before you start to see cracks in the plastic. Other than that, the car is MINT! Congrats :)
Meh, I owned an NA Miata (technically it was my girlfriends car but it was in my name) when they were new - it was fun on a sunny day, and everything about it was well thought out and engineered, but otherwise it was nothing special - they make a great base for modifying, but stock they are pretty lame unless you don't mind slow. Now the NSX - that's an amazing machine - but horribly over-valued now.
I just bought a California 97 w/ 145k in mint condition. Bought it from the second owner who kept it in the garage it's entire life. No door dings, or scratches. Mint mint mint. When I think about what I want to do to it- it actually causes me physical pain...
Interesting. That '97 has some slight differences from my '97. I have no door pockets, no power windows, and no A/C. Didn't realize the center console was so different.

After looking at a lot of you tube videos I now want a MX 5 Miata, preferably an NA with a soft top and manual transmission. My neighbor across the way has one just sitting in her garage. I'm going to as her about it soon, maybe tomorrow. Problem is I have two vehicles already. I have an 07 ranger truck that is currently not running. I also have an 07 chevy Malibu which is my daily. Then my wife has a '16 jeep Cherokee. Too many cars for a two member household. Maybe if I get a Miata and get it running good I will get rid of the Malibu.
Ive only driven an NA Miata once, and yes it was a stickshift. Wow what a light car, surprisingly it was more roomy than an AP1 S2000 and Im only 5'6". More leg room, and knee room than the S2000 for me. Id definitely get one and hop it up some cause it doesnt have a lot of power from what I remember but it felt good regardless
I have an 04 AWD matrix and a 95 miata, I love them both!! Dont be fooled though the miata is noticeably sportier. One for utility and one for fun, I just chose a fun utility vehicle.
I'm 15 and I've owned 2 cars already. My first one I got when I was 14 and it was a 1991 miata with 200k miles. She was mint! I learned how to drive and learn manual on that thing. That thing is what got me into the car community. Ill never forget that thing :') I sold it tho because it was kind of shot and the clutch was bald it slipped so bad 6 months later I now own a 1997 miata with 89,000 miles :) 1.8L with a Torsen. Best steal ever. I love Miatas. They're the best car you can ever drive. I recommend it to everyone. In 7 months ill be able to drive it when I turn 16. I have a couple of videos on it on my channel reviewing it. :)
+Jay Neal it would take custom work to do it and making an adapter plate that mounts the ecoboost to a NA Miata trans is one you would have to do unless you spend more money on buying a brand new mustang trans which will be to big most likely. Their is no way I think it could be FWD you would have to completely redo the geometry of the front suspension so it would be easiest and best in all of our minds to do RWD.
The space where it looks like there should be cupholders... is supposed to be for cupholders lol. I don't know if that car has an aftermarket thing in it or what, but my miata and every other NA miata I have been in, has had cupholders in that spot.
Seeing how you like the miata, if you ever get the chance to review a Peugeot 106 s16 (gti) do it, it's basically a french miata, but fwd and 5 seats (also 950kg which is lighter than the mx5 by 50kg i think) But there's probably none in America :/
There's not much new with the E170. You could rent one from Enterprise, they are no different from the E120 9th gen corolla that I have, except the CVT, infotainment, heated seats and LEDs which are easily accessible in the aftermarket. The new Corollas are so far behind the competition.

Thanks for the honest review! This Miata is SUPER clean!!! Not 100% stock, but pretty close (those chrome "style bars" behind the seats are aftermarket for sure). My channel showcases my '97 Miata, and I know quite a lot about them. To the owner, Ryan, if you're reading this, please consider swapping out your radiator. Even if you swap it with another stock radiator to keep it stock. Those plastic radiators are black from the factory. When the plastic starts to break down due to age, they turn a greenish brown color...like yours. It's only a matter of time before you start to see cracks in the plastic. Other than that, the car is MINT! Congrats :)

Meh, I owned an NA Miata (technically it was my girlfriends car but it was in my name) when they were new - it was fun on a sunny day, and everything about it was well thought out and engineered, but otherwise it was nothing special - they make a great base for modifying, but stock they are pretty lame unless you don't mind slow. Now the NSX - that's an amazing machine - but horribly over-valued now.
I just bought a California 97 w/ 145k in mint condition. Bought it from the second owner who kept it in the garage it's entire life. No door dings, or scratches. Mint mint mint. When I think about what I want to do to it- it actually causes me physical pain...
Interesting. That '97 has some slight differences from my '97. I have no door pockets, no power windows, and no A/C. Didn't realize the center console was so different.
128/133 hp is about the same as the old 60s and 70s British and Italian sports cars, and perfectly adequate in such a small car!
Probably more of a true roadster than the new 2016 version - but cars have to evolve - and the MX-5 has done it beautifully! Great video - thanks!

They actually made cup holders. They clip in where the ash tray goes. I have both for mine in the factory boxes still haha

xTheNameisEthan it gets in the way of you drive manual. The best choice is too buy 100$ aftermarket glove box replacement that throws the cup holder on the right side of the shifting knob.0

After looking at a lot of you tube videos I now want a MX 5 Miata, preferably an NA with a soft top and manual transmission. My neighbor across the way has one just sitting in her garage. I'm going to as her about it soon, maybe tomorrow. Problem is I have two vehicles already. I have an 07 ranger truck that is currently not running. I also have an 07 chevy Malibu which is my daily. Then my wife has a '16 jeep Cherokee. Too many cars for a two member household. Maybe if I get a Miata and get it running good I will get rid of the Malibu.

Ive only driven an NA Miata once, and yes it was a stickshift. Wow what a light car, surprisingly it was more roomy than an AP1 S2000 and Im only 5'6". More leg room, and knee room than the S2000 for me. Id definitely get one and hop it up some cause it doesnt have a lot of power from what I remember but it felt good regardless

Sounds very similar to my 07 Matrix. I guess they're both 1.8L. Planning to pick a '90 Miata up in the coming months.
I have an 04 AWD matrix and a 95 miata, I love them both!! Dont be fooled though the miata is noticeably sportier. One for utility and one for fun, I just chose a fun utility vehicle.

No. But I have faith that an owner wouldn't offer a car in poor condition.
I'm 15 and I've owned 2 cars already. My first one I got when I was 14 and it was a 1991 miata with 200k miles. She was mint! I learned how to drive and learn manual on that thing. That thing is what got me into the car community. Ill never forget that thing :') I sold it tho because it was kind of shot and the clutch was bald it slipped so bad 6 months later I now own a 1997 miata with 89,000 miles :) 1.8L with a Torsen. Best steal ever. I love Miatas. They're the best car you can ever drive. I recommend it to everyone. In 7 months ill be able to drive it when I turn 16. I have a couple of videos on it on my channel reviewing it. :)
Bernardo MX5 i am planning to buy mx5 NA in 1-2 years. The fact that it is a 20 year old car is a little but scary for me though. (1997 at best).

+Jay Neal it would take custom work to do it and making an adapter plate that mounts the ecoboost to a NA Miata trans is one you would have to do unless you spend more money on buying a brand new mustang trans which will be to big most likely. Their is no way I think it could be FWD you would have to completely redo the geometry of the front suspension so it would be easiest and best in all of our minds to do RWD.

The space where it looks like there should be cupholders... is supposed to be for cupholders lol. I don't know if that car has an aftermarket thing in it or what, but my miata and every other NA miata I have been in, has had cupholders in that spot.

just a little plastic piece with holes in it that aren't big enough to fit most cups and in the manual they get in the way of shifting

Seeing how you like the miata, if you ever get the chance to review a Peugeot 106 s16 (gti) do it, it's basically a french miata, but fwd and 5 seats (also 950kg which is lighter than the mx5 by 50kg i think)

There's not much new with the E170. You could rent one from Enterprise, they are no different from the E120 9th gen corolla that I have, except the CVT, infotainment, heated seats and LEDs which are easily accessible in the aftermarket.
The new Corollas are so far behind the competition.

The owner is 6'2 he fits in just fine
