i love the video brother, but is motioncam terrible on s23ultra? footage from older models definitely look better, in the footage used here look no different from stock

Rightly said brother! Stock camera really oversharpens the video. It doesn't look pleasing to eyes. Motioncam videos on the otherhand, have true to life like quality and film-like softness.
