simply perfect - I am now 67 years old - this was the start of the best years of my Life !!!!!
I was born in 67. Now I'm 57. Love blues and flower power. ✌️
There will never be another Keith Emerson. Incredible talented and versatile player.
Meh, I knew Keith back when he was cleaning toilets in Yorkshire.
Really great quality for '69 - both audio & video - Germans were always into HQ capture - and now we get to enjoy it all these years later .. Zum Wohl !!
I wonder how much has been cleared up by A.I.?
Yeah but the choppy back and forth, never showing the musicians for more than half a second, except for some fixation on the drummers… it really takes away from the visual enjoyment…the audience isn’t on Owsley acid anymore!
For the first time in my life (I was 22 years old) Essen, were I had lived at the time, felt like real City with all the cool looking visitors from abroad.
My old beloved Gruga Halle !!! Non of the nowerday youngsters could even imagine, how thick the air was full of Gras and Black Afgahne smoke so that you could bite in her! Man, those were the days!!! 😢😢😢
Peace, Love and Rock N Roll ☮️
Just found the video, brought back a lot of memories, attended the festival when I was based in Germany with the RAF
Ich war da !!!!!!❤
How it was?
Excellent! I had no idea this even existed. I just got lucky stumbling upon this.
Ich war für zwei Stunden wieder 16! Einfach geil...............................
I love how this footage just features some of the greatest bands ever
There will never again be bands as good as any of these. That's just my opinion. The environment that created them is gone and will never be replicated.
sort of like every enviornment that creats anything@@inglepropnoosegarm7801
Man this is great legends
miserable Kameraführung
This is some unreal rock history here.
Las bandas británicas actuaban en Alemania. Mi álbum favorito es Grand Hotel . PROCOL HARUM .
What a collection of gems! Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation! Thanks so much for this great video!
Thank-you for putting this up! So much great music from that era.
Blimey! Footage of *Warm Dust* - never thought I'd see the day....
I’d never heard of them until I chanced upon this channel. Who were they? I mean, where were they from and how long did last as a band?
I met them in 1970 or so in Enfield North London they lived in a big house there. John Peel liked them . Came from Sheffield I think, were stoned and tripping a lot that's what it was like then. Typical sound of the period@@written12 ☮
@@written12 They bit the dust I think!
Just a couple months after Woodstock and you can see how much good music was out there that most of these great bands did not do woodstock - Purple was always so Jazzy and awesome well before Made In Japan. The others are awesome as well!!
Keef Harley did play at Woodstock.
@@NilezII aok not familar with that thanxx I corrected my comment to most
Yeah, awesome alternative to the more well known Woodstock this - great recording. Thanks to poster for sharing.
I really miss footage of the Pretty Things, who did a great show on the 9th of October, 1969 with Phil May, Wally Allen, Jon Povey, Skip Alan and Victor Unitt (the Parachute line-up). Really a missed opportunity for sure!
Super Beitrag.
How about Taste? Rory, rest in peace, was such an outstanding singer and guitar slinger.
If u could actually see him it would great 😮
Rory sounding fantastic! Can tell why Brian May copied his rig. You can make out his Strat.. wasn’t quite as battered as it ended up
Pure 100 % original rock progresivo and hard rock too 😊
PROCOL HARUM ' Grande hotel ' , 5 STARS. Rock progresivo . It IS my favourite. Maravillosa voz. Estupendas composiciones .
What a shame Yes' portion of this festival was axed. Clearly they"re playing Something's Coming, their version of the West Side Story song in a short clip here. And the original band at that !!..... Damn.
It's gratifying to see graduates of the Tony Palmer School of Film Production making their early steps in the industry.
Wow, fantastic, I already had the audio to Pink Floyd for this show, for many years, but dont think I have ever seen this video footage, I cant thank you enough. Will also be a treat to see Taste, Nice and Deep Purple from this period.
I Was born at October 1969. Thank you very much. for share.
Shows the drummer and keyboard player through the entire guitar solo ( DP)
You gotta be kidding me !!
We missed some otherworldly licks and runs in there !!
Exactly. So ret#arded! And Ian is just playing a straight beat, nothing special. Total editing fail. Meanwhile Ritchie and Jon are tearing it up.
Hitched a ride in Warm Dust's van to the National Jass & Blues festival at Plumptom race coarse. near Lewis East Sussex England back in 69
Mensch, endlich! Danke.
hang on to a dream is just mindblowing!!!! thank you so much for this timegate!
Nice hi-hat footage during Rory’s solo Lol
Grossartig-toll gemacht😍
Incredible john lord and ian paice rendition in Mandrake song. Beautiful rock , with more jazz spirit than on master Emerson who sounds more like Doors and Santana, really great. Emerson is also fantastic but it is more classical. Pink floyd is pure psychedelic music and classic avant-garde , amazing and so original music.
Thank you!
Excellent..!
Too bad the cinematographer didn't realize that the music was the art, not his hip camera work.
4 minutes into Deep Purple’s clip, Ritchie Blackmore hasn’t been shown, and it’s only been the drummer and Jon Lord’s hands on the keyboard!!
Good job, mate!
Fantastique
Thank you ❤
great footage from rory
It would be interesting, it's 2024, to see the same people in interviews today (those who are still alive).
Or just 25 years earlier to see what their parents did in the war.
You mean what their parents did at the 2nd world war ... It s a British band .
@@user-qw6bh8pw2k
Oh
On Taste the director had copyright only for the drummer?
there's a fleeting glimpse of Rory.
Why hasn’t any of this concert been commercially released??? And I mean full sets from all of the artists who played!
Free 48:28. Blink and you'll miss this short but classic piece of the band playing The Hunter which you'll not see anywhere else Thanks for uploading
Thanks for the addition. Greetings
wow, the Mac in their prime
Would love to see the whole set!
Danke ein Essener Jung.....
Why did the cameramen of the late 60s and early 70s think filming historical concerts while having a seizure was a good thing? I wish they had a normal shot of the shows.
A lot of concert photography from that time is total crap. Egotistical goofballs with no talent and a camera. Shameful
You had to be there
Nice one one love
Keith Emerson steals this whole show.
Very good bands ! 😊
awesome
Thank you for the colorization. It helps . . Because of the staccato , 1 second long nature of the film clips , B+W yields just a blur . This is GOLD , but the cameraman did not do a good job , IMHO .
The director - the cameramen did their job.
The colouring is really helpful, I agree 👍🏼
extra mega live !!!
Dude, this just kicked my buzz in at least 69%.
Buzz kicking is @ 69%💃🕺☠️🎵im rite there
Rory!
I wish there was some Fleetwood Mac footage. Would have been nice if there was some complete Yes songs too.
There is about 1 minute of Albatross
Boy, Rory Gallegher is really on fire here!
and while they where screeming on blues and boogie boogie....King Crimson did In the Court Of Crimson King.
ah ah !!
i wasn't there !!!!!
WOW!!
Muy buena musica q yo nunca habia escuchado
69 & 70 ICH WAR DABEI !
As usual the great Keith Emerson blows everyone away. God's gift to the keyboards😊 Pink Floyd were terrible really the nice and deep purple are the best and of course I love Aynsley Dunbar😮
Ian Paice wow!
The Organ ere !!!
And very much the heavy organ.
Absolutely amazing to have this footage for the audio alone, but by todays standards, the guy working that camera would never get another job. All I’m seeing right now is crashing symbols, and fingers flying across keys, barely anything of the bands.
I definitely see what you mean…it gets downright annoying quickly (even as it’s cool to have SOME of those close shots) but I’m putting it more on the editing. There had to be at least four camera operators, what with the different simultaneous shots (including the far-too-few-used full band shots!) Some GrEaT music, though!! ✌🏼
Not once did they show Rory Gallagher playing guitar. Very disappointing.
I'm trying to get thru this whole video without having an epileptic seizure. Typical 1969 editing style.
Probably the editor got fired
I’m sure it’s 98% the director’s fault, or the editor if the director let him have free reign.
There is a saying - "Less is more" - which I think you could apply to the editing of the video !
Edited by Stevie Wonder..what a shame..it's great stuff
This entire feature needs a time signature of the groups playing.
The subsequent coloring wasn`t neccessary imho. But thats whiningon a high level. Good to have some impressions from this groundbreaking event. Cold coffee for those that attended there, but for me(I was 9 years old at that time) a very interesting retroperspective to a time when law and order was at highest command not only here in Germany. Where many that survived WWII thought of this filthy indivuduals as delegates from comrade Brezhnev.
Repression breeds rebellion !!
I believe that’s YES with Tony Kaye and it looks like Brufords hair & Chris Squire over there.
Abysmal performance from Pink Floyd.
I can hardly to believe then this is the Pink Floyd...:(
Well, you can't blame the height of the stage for the problems at Altamont anymore.
I hope the cameraman found a new job
I just went to another site and left the audio on. I don't need to get a headache listening to the music I love. The cameraman may have been on an acid trip.
This camera man robbed us of some of the greatest late 60’s/ early 70’s footage ever. Much appreciation for posting this incredible music though. I just look away from the screen whilst I listen to some of the most amazing music ever in the history of rock.
The problem is with the producer/director/editor.
Not the camera operators(there are a few) it's overcomplicated production....way to busy!
Doing drugs?
It actually hurts my eyes 😂😂😂
I stand corrected. Barrett left the group in ‘68.
no camera on ritchie!
Maybe the camera spotted Richie, but the director had other plans…
@@landesartor maybe Ritchie shot the director or camera man a nasty look.
Yeah, strange, isn’t it? Anyway, some great soloing. I love that clean sound on the second solo.
" Country Pie " Keith Emerson ...
A true miracle in the stiff and conservative german culture. We had all a hard time in the late 60s and 70s and, as rock musicians, we did not find any kind of support in good old Germany.
Great band producing some good old blues from the south Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, USA! The black blues came from here. There was a different sound. Everybody in the south. United States was different than anybody else in the world. It was a different time. The Civil War was over and still a lot of hard feelings left over, and the music kinda help heal the wounds. Now we have done a 360° turn no appreciation from the blacks they are running wild in the streets. Unappreciative still full of hate is sad.
Was wondering if this was around the same time that Peter Green got dosed by the German Acid Freakazoids.
Almost unwatchable camera work 😢
Actually, at times that cutting back and forth really captures the wild abandon of the music.
Who’s the singer in Ansley Dunbar’s Retaliation?
Victor Brox@@written12
56:01 where you can see at least 4 members of Deep Purple 57:29
I wanna see this sound guys rig! lol
48:29 - FREE!
Yes The Hunter
Thanks it's added! Greetings
I had that same drum kit as the guy in the first band - a 4-piece Ludwig in black diamond pearl. I miss that kit. Some crackhead broke into my storage unit and stole it. 🤬
These hippies can really boogie. Lots of boogie and fifteen minute solos. This is why punk rock had to happen.
SPINAL TAP
wie Jon Lord seine Hammond durchorgeld, genial..
PFO!
Not so angry Waters doing Bjork impersonation into the microphone. How times have changed.
49:12 YES!
Thanks for great piece of rock history. Too bad the typical cameraman back in the day was as stoned as everyone in the audience.
Whomever was in charge filming this hated guitarists or what? Lots of drums and keyboard footage …….
Vielleicht war der Kameramann stoned😊😊
I was thinking the same thing.
Dai...va bene cosi`...e' un documento storico, 1969 !!!! Grandi tutti !!!
Perhaps a once tried guitarist turned camera person
Ritchie Blackmore must have pissed some cameraman off at this festival. Wring That Neck only shows Ian Paice and Jon Lord the entire performance. Not one single shot of Blackmore at all. Whereas Taste with Rory Gallagher, is pretty fair in the number of shots of each member of the band.
I haven't gotten to Mandrake Root Part 2 yet, but ...
