- Fulgrim Transfigured, a fallen son in all his Daemon Prince glory is an impressive miniature and a true center-piece for your collection. In this full and very, very in-depth painting guide, we show you how to paint Fulgrim Transfigured from start to finish, covering everything you need to know to paint this monstrous miniature (which will serve you well for the upcoming GW studio release too). Well, 2025 is upon us and it's almost the DRPA's 5th birthday! So to get this year started with a bang, we thought it would be fun to upload this tutorial from the Academy and share it here to celebrate our upcoming milestone. Of course, this tutorial can be used to paint the new upcoming Fulgrim release from the GW studio. We have some exciting stuff planned for 2025 with the Academy as well as some really exciting projects we will announce later this year. But for now, we hope you enjoy this tutorial and if you want to, please Subscribe to the channel, leave a Comment and a Like and check out the Academy (www.duncanrhodes.com). Let's make 2025 an amazing and hobby filled year!
Cheers
Dunc, Rog & the DRPA team!
Holy hell, Fulgrim. That's a big one to put out as a free video. Thank you Duncan.
Yes, to help celebrate our upcoming 5th Birthday!
@@DuncanRhodesDRPA how long did this video take to film and paint?
@@BlackHoleEye I'd love to know this too!
You could say it's a very pleasurable and excessive 😂
I think Duncan is so popular because he recognises the level of detail specific models require and makes an appropriate tutorial. His marine tutorials don’t include loads of wet blending, glazing etc. but he then introduces this in more complex models like Lion. Best tutorials available
Thanks. We try to always remember our audience and to help them get achievable results that they are proud of.
This is such a valuable tutorial, not only for this complex model, but it helps with the mindset of tackling any big and intricate model. Thanks Duncan.
You're very welcome!
Hell yeah ! I've painted my 3500 points of world eaters thanks to your guide on berzerkers. I'm probably going to do the same for emperor's children once you paint the noise marines !
Thank you so much for your guides Duncan.
It's our pleasure
3500 points? Angron would be proud.
Cool i play World Eaters and Emperor's Children too!
I had quite the reaction to seeing plastic Fulgrim being teased and can’t wait to see you guys paint that one too.
Duncans tutorials on the Warhammer Channel is the reason I picked a paint brush up as an adult after giving up as a child. The tutorials were always so enjoyable to watch and so beginner friendly. Quite a few of my larger models are only complete because of said tutorials 😁
Omg, this is your best looking mini. The Emperors Children thank you!
Honestly, that looks beyond perfection 🙌🏻
Seriously Amazing!!
I am not going to lie, if ths video was 5 hours long, with some music in the background so you do not have to talk for 5 hours as you paint, I would still watch it at least twice!!
Seriously fantastic work, quality, and instruction! Thank you DRPA for everyone's hard work!!
Damn you explained like 5 techniques I’ve been practicing so well!!! Tysm Duncan!
Pleasure and keep practicing.
Love Fulgrim's golden beard at the start of the video.
Duncan is a real nice pal to us, big thank you!
This makes my reading the Horus Heresy books even better! Really gives us something to picture when Fulgrim is mentioned in the later stages of the books!
Another day, another video of Duncan painting the better versions of models XD
The godfather of painting is back with another Primarque ! Amazing work ! (Hey GW time to give credit to Duncan... SO MANY people are gonna be more inclined to buy this model with such an amazing painting tutorial !)
Well done, Duncan. Well done indeed!
Currently painting this guy now so i can use this one on the table and take my time with the new one, all ill say is contrast and dry brush are your bestest friends lol 😂😂 thanks for the video lord duncan, awesome as always
Thank you , DRPA .
🐺Loupis Canis .
Thank you 🐺🐺🐺
What a fantastic tutorial! I love what you've done, with the channel, with the paint line, and with just being a good person overall. Thank you so much, and happy new year!
Thank you so much! And a happy new year to you too
Such a fabulous looking model, you really brought out his glamerous appearance with your amazing painting skill!
Thank you so much! He has to look glorious doesn't he?
Totally, his new miniature looks more imposing but this one looks more regal.
Beautiful. It's such a good sculpt, in context of the upcoming one. I've heard excuses for the cartoonish evil faces on that one, but getting virus bombed means you turn into liquid, then gas and detonate, not give you wrinkles that make you look like an average goofy cultist. There's a clear difference of visions and this one is the far superior one.
Just finished painting his face last night, thinking "oooh coming together nice!" And then Duncan posts this video only hours later.. not quite as happy with it now haha
Happy New Year Duncan! Awesome work as always
The armour with the purple and gold colour details on Fulgrim are elegant. Just about closer to the EC release of 40k Fulgrim.
Very good Duncan.
Awesome way to start 2025, Duncan!
Yeah this is big!
Loving both 30k n 40k models. 40k got that sword Ferrus made him. Nice yet sad little detail. Amazing video as always
Magnificent! It's something I can express in words or sentences
Thank you ☺
Going to use the scheme on future EC models and the new Fulgrim
Still best youtube painting tutorials Duncan
Thank you so much
Same here.
@@DuncanRhodesDRPA I thank you master
Omg, ever since this fulgrim transfigured was released that you’d do a video!! Thank you Duncan!!
Hope you enjoyed it!
@@DuncanRhodesDRPA Absolutely loved it, cheers Duncan!
I didn't come for fulgrim. I came for the metallics love the videos mate
Thanks! 😀
Woooow that’s a decadent amount of details! I may need to run it as a daemon prince in Old World… ⚔️
I painted mine a few months ago, but this makes me want to do it all over again!
There's a new plastic kit coming out with your name on it...
You are awesome. I love your videos so much.
Ahhh, thank you so much for the kind words.
That Fulgrim flesh tone, that is sublime Duncan!
Thanks you ☺
Simply awesome.
That "one" model needed an army's worth of painting! Wow, beautiful! 👍💜
True, but as it's a true center-piece model, it's worth it 😀
Thanks for making this Duncan. I have an awfully large model of Slaanesh that I custom made and have been looking for someone who can make an amazing tutorial for this.
Been following you since i first saw your Magnus video back in the day when it came out, now been hobbying and watching you ever since! To many more years or DRPA!
Btw ty for helping do step by step for these larger models cause wowsers they are intimidating.
Or pleasure
@ 😂😂😂catching me out on that typo
Outstanding work 👍👍
Thank you so much 😀
Beautiful!
Omg yes I was so hoping you were going to do Fulgrim. I want this model so much but the paint job is intimidating. Nice tutorial though, can’t wait to do mine
It's not as hard as you might think, the trick is to break it down into sizable chunks and just take your time and enjoy the process.
That is awesome.
I really wish there was a video on the website about assembling it, and how to handle all the various FW resin issues and bad fit.
We did a tutorial on assembling and working with resin in the Techniques section, that should help for sure.
I recommend getting a wow stick so you can drill pins in for all the parts. Some people say you need magnets for the wings for transport and I can definitely see why.
Think I've had a Bob Ross moment Or should I say a Duncan moment at Part One with Drybrush :D :D
It looks amazing ! Well done and great tutorial :) Love it and love your videos :D
Almost 5 years already, waouh ! Keep going :)
We know right! 5 years! Glad you like the tutorial.
*Let's wish Duncan a happy new year of a snake!* 🐍🐍🐍
Just got the model this will be perfect 😁
Fulgrim got Dunc’d
Fantastic job!! ❤🎉😮
Thanks
Wow, what a video to put our for free, thank you :)
Our pleasure!
great vlog happy new year keep up the great vlog you do on channel thanks for share
Thank you! You too!
Best channel in the world Duncan 🙂
You are too kind
Have you considered doing a Trench Crusade mini? It would be interested seeing you paint something designed to be printed at home
Everyone will in due time. That whole game is really cool. I love everything about it. The art style is so good.
Thank you! Papa bless! 🪰🪰🪰
Now the 40K version of fulgrim just needs a painting video as soon as the model releases
Great job as always, thank you. Please do Vulkan soon!
Happy new year 🥳
Happy new year!!
wyvern green and skulker yellow look really good, so does the light gold
Thank you
Thank you so much for adding AI translation. It's a great idea on your part. Saludos desde España
Thank UA-cam
I know just the final touch up that would really bring it together, just send it to my house please
Hello Duncan!
Please may I ask if you could do a "Iron Hand" space marine tutorial please?
I'm looking to start an army of them, but am a bit overwhelmed with how to proceed. I'm also a bit of a beginner!
Hope you had a good Christmas and new years!
That is one magnificient paint job, will you paint the upcoming plastic one too?
It would also be really great if you could paint a Spartan or a Elite fom Mantic's Halo Flashpoint.
Love the work but I was also wanting to know how the ruins were painted as well
You should paint the Konrad Curze model!
awwwww yes
I wonder how long this took him to assemble and paint. Because this video being an hour is insane already. Looks amazing tho and these tutorials always are super helpful even if I’m not actually painting this model specifically
It took us 3 days to paint and film. But the building took quite a while to be fair.
@ that’s actually much faster than I initially expected and you really hit it home in such a quick turn around imo. Such an amazing piece. Can’t wait to see what the rest of the year holds!
I just got the full range of wave 1 paints and I’m loving them!
Do you have a tutorial for Robute Guilliman??
We sure do over at the Academy :-)
@ lemme just head over and join real quick then 👀
Read my mind!!! Thanks DRPA!!! (Hi Duncan)
Our pleasure
Ooooooooo! Yes!!!!!
yahooo
Nice video, the sound is a little bit squiky at some places. Really like the result! 👍👍
Need that shirt from the thumbnail
When I saw the plastic model I had the same feeling that I had with Coteaz... What the hell are you doing GW, releasing new minis worse than previous ones... And like with Coteaz here comes Duncan with a video with a video that hints at something... 😂
Could this lead to a potential Ferrus Manus guide?👀
Fantastic paint job absolutely loved the finished model! I'm curious as to how long a model like this actually took you to paint without all the editing?
3 days of filming and painting. Rog edited between shots.
@DuncanRhodesDRPA thank you, it's interesting to know how long it takes a pro to paint to this sort of standard to gauge how long it might take me (an average painter) to replicate something even vaguely close to this. 😊
Think you could do a basic video on YT on how to prep resin kits and the difference between it and plastic
I think he's done a video on this before. Might've been when he was still with the Warhammer TV team
We did a tutorial awhile back on working with resin on our website, in our techniques section.
Amazing work - question, why did you wash the gold with druchii violet before blocking in the naggaroth purple, would it it not make sense to wash the whole thing after the 2 colours were applied?
Fair question. You can do it both ways but for the sake of tuition, we like to break it down into manageable chunks.
I will never understand why fulgrim hasnt any tentacles with hands and translucient skin.
Will be there tutorial for GW latest announced model of Fulgrim as well ?
maybe ;-) Although they are very, very similar.
I'm guessing you're excited about that new plastic Fulgrim mini that was announced? I might use this guide for that one!
Oh yes.
@@DuncanRhodesDRPAI'm going to have a hard time choosing between two faces let alone 5! I hope somebody finds a good way to magnetize the options like other primarch models.
I wonder...could that skin recipe work on csm possessed? I have a hard time making it look good so that would be helpful.
sure can!
Hey, do you have a guide to paint ultramarines with a lighter blue? I seen videos from tabletop tactics with a light blue ultramarine using maccrage blue and teclis blue(mostly teclis blue) but its painted with airbrush. Do you have a way to paint that scheme without an airbrush?
We did a tutorial a couple years ago on painting an Emperor's Spear Space Marine on our website which may be what you are looking for.
@ thank you:)
i like Dragon's Gold, im going to buy it and use it to replace Greedy Gold from Army Painter
Good choice
So will you also do the 40k version?
Maybe...
I’m surprised how much is done on 00 size it’s not one I use much
2 days after I picked out my painting guide for him you release this! I wish you'd done a base tutorial though~
No-one got Duncan a new basecoat brush for his christmas then? :(
No 😢
Dear sweet baby jesus. Duncan, you did it. This model looks fantastic!
Thank you kindly!
Was wondering how this had 2k views - then realized its been an hour
Hand on , so hand with spear is option , as all of GW official photo had him with spear not 3rd sword
Paint blood bowl
damn 5th
Next time! 😀
Thought we agreed on conrad curz..........
Conrad is on our list
I think the painting is great.
That model is overhyped and meh, as far as I'm concerned.
But I'll steal the techniques for OG Fulgrim, which has so much more character (and when the new plastic kit for Fulgrim comes out with snake body, which is WAY better, that's what I'll use for HH too), and paint it with these techniques.
Also, can't wait until someone drops that resin snake Fulgrim one day, and the tears that are going to follow....It's going to be a bad day.
I don’t get why he has 4 arms but only 3 swords…
Thanks for your tutorial, would love to purchase this mini to paint it just as you have but in Australia this miniature is $414 !! Yes that’s correct not a typo
Advice probs should have been if you're new to the hobby avoid resin kits 😂
Хорошая работа! Но начинающим нужно показывать более лёгкие способы покраса
how to paint fulgrim transfigured with a paint brush silly
Wait until you see us paint a Warlord Titan! 😀
@@DuncanRhodesDRPA good i will be painting mine next month i main iron hands so flat black and silver trim is an easy color scheme to do
The new Fulgrim is kind of a let down. I hope they don't fuck up Lucius' face like they did with Fulgrim with the new model.
