- I love this montage with Vinnie playing in the house band for The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers (Fox, 1986-87). But the announcer's voice was driving me crazy. So I removed it and made the drums louder. Vinnie had 2 bars to go crazy on a fill every night. But that was the cue to call Ms. Rivers, so removing the announcer's voice decreases the audio quality right where you want it most... reminds me of learning licks from cassette tapes... Check out the original here (by @hughenmatt):

Audio quality is medium because of processing to remove the announcer speaking over Vinnie's fills. Enjoy then the priceless reactions from Jimmy Johnson (bass ) and Steve Dudas (guitar).
My favorite fill is 1:45. Which fill is your favorite?
This is pretty amazing! I made this video 11 years ago and too see it in this format with the announcer removed is hilarious. Glad you are rocking this video!
Mine too- I rewound it a couple of times before I saw your comment! I think it might be a 5:2 figure between flams and Kick... but only Vinnie knows for sure! 🙂
The best drummer that's ever lived
This is my fave era of Vinnie. I call it Universal Domination Vinnie.
Damn my hands are sweat just hearing those 2 bar phrases on national live tv... that's what having confidence in yourself is.
I love seeing the band leader throughout this. Looked like he was having the time of his life. Can't get enough of that energy.
Man, I remember tuning in JUST to hear Vinnie on the intro to the show!.......Thanks! Haaaaaaaaaa 2:50 mark! 3:02! ahh, what the heck ALL 6 mins and 59 seconds of video! LOL
Awesome.
Also, try a montage on Anton Fig's drum skills from David Letterman. He really does get loose for a couple of bars.
This is actually Gods work. thank you for this.
Where's the video of just the announcer, with no music? 😉
lol
that guy's breaks groove. insane!
So cool you did this! 2:34 always gets me
3:02 is pretty ballsy
that one's nuts... only VC could pull that off on TV with a live audience
One endless day
Savage 😆😃
Word from within the industry is that if they’d put this segment at the very end of the show, or at random points from one show to the next, her show would never have been taken off the air. They even thought about letting him just sit there playing whatever he wanted for an hour a night. No Joan. No guests. Just the band laughing at Vinnie. Hindsight is 20/20, but these are career-ending mistakes, folks.
I wonder how much coke was done by this band.
Sooooooooooooooooo much
ALL of it.
