  • If your head is stuffy or your throat is sore, how can you tell whether you have a cold or flu or COVID? It’s a question many are asking with the arrival of flu season. NBC News senior medical correspondent Dr. John Torres joins TODAY to break it all down. “If you start getting sick, essentially you have to assume it’s COVID unless proven otherwise,” he says.

If you cant tell them apart, why should it matter which one it is? If you're truly sick, you aren't getting up and going anywhere. So ride it out at home...like we always used to when you caught a cold or the flu.
Get to a hospital if you feel like you are starting to have trouble breathing. People around you taking care of you, use common sense to avoid infection, but chances are if you live together, you're going to get sick as well. Why are people acting like human beings haven't been dealing with this forever??

Because Covid I’d a biphasic illness that can affect all organs in the body. The first phase is upper respiratory (like when a patient first gets AIDS), then it can get very severe quickly. Covid is not like a cold.

@@leabee7621 speaking of dumb comments and..before 2020, when you got sick, did you care if it was a cold or the flu? Did you need a diagnosis? Unless you were deathly ill, most likely the answer to that question sums up what is wrong with your comment. For as long as I can remember prior to covid, if you got sick, you treated the symptoms. Viruses have this nasty habit of not being "curable" and just naturally run their course. You do realize that even for those who are hospitalized with covid, it's the symptoms they are treating, right? They aren't trying to "cure" covid. It's a virus...it will just mutate no matter what we throw at it. Supposedly, there are some treatments out there that it responds to, but for the most part, they will start by treating the symptoms. We have dealt with colds and the flu the same way for the last 30-40 years...at least. Therefore, as I said in my op, you monitor your symptoms to decide if you need more than otc meds or an ER visit. Because although some people will die of covid (just like some people have died of the flu), many will process it the same as a cold or flu. Sure it can affect organs..does it do that in everyone?? No. Do you not know of people who were in bed for a week and then bounced back like with any other viral infection?? I do! Seeing as it has such a high survival rate, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say we all know people who had it processed it like a bad bout of the flu. Unfortunately, that doesn't fit the narrative of pretending this is the deadliest virus known to man and we need to change our lives forever or no one will survive. 🙄

I tested positive for COVID yesterday. My symptoms started Wednesday afternoon with a scratchy throat and my left ear was hurting. Thursday morning I had a lot of head congestion and fatigue and later a fever. Friday (today), I've still got bad congestion, no scratchy throat and a low grade fever. I'm pretty sure I have Omicron since I never lost my sense of taste or smell. Yes, I had the Moderna vaccine, no, I did not get a booster. I most likely got it at work, I work at a hospital where surgical masks are required at all times. So if you think your mask is going to prevent infection, you will be disappointed. @@blackstrap612, specifically with respect to Omicron only, I actually don’t entirely disagree. Being vaccinated and boosted, there’s considerable evidence that getting infected with Omicron will be like a moderate cold. That being the case, I actually might be OK with getting it, for the extra antibodies.
However, here in the US, it’s still possible to get Delta, and I’d prefer to get Omicron, since subsequent variants will probably be based upon Omicron, so those are the antibodies I want to get. Plus Delta appears to produce considerably-worse symptoms.
So, I’m going to keep masking and isolating: Omicron being so extremely contagious, I’m pretty much guaranteed to get it, but the chances are fair that masking and isolating will delay my infection until Delta is pretty much gone.

Sense of taste returned, but neurologically I'm still not 100%--short term memory problems, mainly--not severe but noticeable, at least to me. This attacks the bronchi similar to bronchitis infection, this is why you may get sore throat more and runny nose etc. There is no shortness of breathe usually but it is still possible if you have underlying issues and of course how your immune responds to the virus.

This study also focuses on the inhibition of the SARS-CoV-2 Alpha variant by a combination of stenoparib and remdesivir.
The researchers of the current study also evaluated the inhibitory action of a combination of stenoparib and remdesivir against the Alpha variant. When combined, the drugs acted synergistically and plaque inhibition increased to over 90%
Since stenoparib inhibits a host protein, the antiviral activity of stenoparib should inhibit all variant strains. The current study explored the activity of stenoparib against four SARS-CoV-2 strains including the SARS-CoV-2 67 Germany/BavPat1/2020 wild-type strain (wt), as well as the Alpha, Beta, Gamma SARS-CoV-2 VOCs
