This was an extremely well produced video. It’s beautiful how much information is given now completely for free. We live in a beautiful time to learn. The thought that an entire studio quality production can be filmed and edited on a phone now, it’s mind blowing, when you look at where we came from. I own an iPhone 16 Pro Max (which is why I decided to watch this), but I also own a 12 Pro. Yes, you can do more and create a higher quality on the newer phone, but you can produce amazing quality products with a much older phone, just like you can buy an M1 Air IPad or MacBook Air to edit. A person can easily buy both a phone and computer or IPad for $600 then produce high enough quality projects to earn a living, which is less than what a lens would have cost to do high quality work 15 years ago. Then you have people like yourself who provide the knowledge you need, which most people wouldn’t have access to unless they joined a photography or design school. The barrier to follow your dreams and create your own is easier now than ever.
This was such an amazing and thorough video. Thank you. Definitely will get your LUT for Final Cut Pro . I love that you walk us through every step. A lot of videos leave so much out and you have to figure out a lot of what they do on your own.
Another great tutorial Benett. I really enjoyed the stripped back sound track. The emphasis on effects over music is another lesson to learn. Thanks again for everything! 👏🏻
I literally look forward to each and every video you drop, soooo good and always PACKED with knowledge! I absolutely loved the truck shot of the cow and the mountains! That place is stunning! I have a trip coming up in December, going to Germany for 12 days and want to make a few cinematic videos out of it. Would you bring a gimbal or a cage like the Brandon li with the handles to capture footage? I was looking at getting the 360 flow pro but wouldn’t be able to use an SSD or a ND filter with that. I know technically they’re different tools for different jobs, but what are your thoughts? Bring both?
Thanks, Connor! If you’re looking for a more compact setup for travel shots, you might want to check out SmallRig’s new cage for the iPhone 16 Pro/Pro Max (if that’s the model you have). It also comes with a case that fits into the cage. For quick, spontaneous shoots, you can use just the case with a grip, and it works well with the DJI OM 6 gimbal. You can mount a VND filter or lenses too: www.smallrig.com/SmallRig-x-Brandon-Li-Mobile-Lightweight-Video-Kit-for-iPhone-16-Pro-Pro-Max-Co-design-Edition.html?afmc=694& I’ll be making a review of it soon :). For external recordings, the Lexar SSD hub is compact and a solid option but its still on kickstarter: ksglobal.lexar.com/
there is no effect called speed lut. can u please how u got it and how can I do that step, converting the log to rec 709 ? please revert thanks. and thank you so much for this amazing content.
great tut Benett. was wondering if buying a 15 pro max or 16 pro max. image quality is pretty similar? I know I can record 4k 120fps with 16 pro if not wrong.
Yes the image quality is the same with no noticeable difference. I think its worth upgrading anything older than the 15, as shooting in LOG makes the biggest difference :)
Hey Bennet, this looks amazing! Really grateful for all of your wonderfully helpful tips as well. Quick question…I’ve noticed that in several other Log footage tutorials, many people are saying that you want to always put the color grading ABOVE the LUT conversion in FCP (so that the LUT conversion is always at the bottom in the inspector area). I notice you had it the opposite way where the top level was the LUT conversion and your grading was below that. Can you help me understand the pros and cons of both methods? Thank you
Thanks so much! I'm glad you found the tips helpful. Great question about the LUT and color grading workflow in FCP. Both methods work, but they have different effects on your footage. LUT on top: The way I did it (LUT conversion on top, grading below) applies the LUT first, converting your Log footage into a more standard color space. Then, any adjustments you make after that affect the image that’s already been normalized, giving you more predictable results when tweaking exposure, contrast, or color. Grading on top: When you apply grading first and then the LUT, you're making changes to the raw Log footage, which can give you more control over the image before it’s converted. This might give you more flexibility with color, but it can also lead to unexpected results, since the LUT will apply its transformation afterward, possibly altering the look you're trying to achieve. Ultimately, it comes down to preference and the look you're going for. I recommend trying both ways to see which works best for your style and the specific project. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions. Cheers, Benett
@@BenettGraezer thank you so so much for this very detailed and helpful and generous reply! Makes total sense to me. You’ve helped further my knowledge of these matters and that will help me with my own work. Thank you!
How do you get your footage onto your computer? I tried Image capture and air drop and a 4 minute clip filmed in cinematic mode takes over 10 minutes to transfer and sometimes longer.
@@BenettGraezerthanks for the response. That’s what I’ve been doing. How long does it take you to transfer footage? When I film normal video mode it’s fast, but i film cooking segments in 4K “cinematic mode” and those clips are 5+ minutes long and those take 20+ minutes to transfer with image capture.

Only 15/16 pro max and higher are capable of shooting Apple ProRes but you can still achieve great results with iPhones below, it comes down to knowing how to use your phones camera :)
I noticed that you are not taking advantage of the amazing HDR capability of your iPhone, instead you are using the old Rec.709 color space. I am curious why?

If using HDR it will look good when played back on the same phone but when played on a non HDR tv or monitor it looks bad.
