@@udorechner6846 Would it be feasible that Leonardo da Vinci sketched the idea based on descriptions of Marco Polo? While the two weren't contemporaries by any means (Polo was dead well over 125 years before da Vinci was born), we know da Vinci was able to read and write, so would have been able to feasibly read works made by Polo (Who as a merchant I presume to have also been able to write, I know it may be a stretch, but still) when da Vinci lived and worked in Venice. Being the inveterate tinkerer that da Vinci was, I can sort of imagine him reading of such a bridge and how it were built in Polo's works and asking himself how that were done, and then try and duplicate it. I'm also sketchy about such an idea not existing in Europe before da Vinci thought of it. We don't know a lot about what medieval Man knew (ie, their level of knowledge), but given that nails were expensive, and all manner of joinery is quite literally older than civilisation (look at Primitive Technology (the youtube channel) for what I mean there, it's feasible that Stone Age man also knew the techniques he uses) I would consider it dubious that something like a self supporting bridge wasn't known before da Vinci thought of it.
I imagine doing that alone standing in a slightly wider and hip deep creek... I guess it just needs at least a 2nd person, no matter how skilled you are.
Thank you Grandpa! As a San Franciscan I have been exposed to things Asain for decades. Grandpa is a reflection of the incredible nation he comes from. The Chinese are a peaceful, practical, hard working, disciplined, thrifty, and very patient people. The bridge is a reflection of their character. It take only what it needs, is useful and is strong, and exists in harmony with its environment. God bless you Grandpa.
In 2017 i went to the Philippines and first hand i got to see this guy who had been making butterfly knifes for over 20 years make a knife in front of me. Using all kinds of junk from scrap and turning them into very impressive handmade knifes with less tools than me a 16 year old. I thought it was amazing but unfortunately its a dieing art over there because the younger people are not interested in it. If i didnt live in America i know what i would be doing. Although i dont speak tagalog my mom and grandmother could probably teach me
@@birlove1471 It's also a traditional Chinese method. Just because Da Vinci wrote something similar on his notes, it doesn't mean that the method traditionally already used by Chinese isn't "Chinese" anymore. Self-supporting bridge is something that the Chinese independently thought of. Just like some mathematical theories that are found in Chinese texts that are actually pythagoras theorem. It is believed that Chinese thinkers at the time also thought of it independently. You have to realize that technical methods like this are not like "artistic originality." Artistic originality is something that is very unlikely to be independently thought of by two separate nations without contact. That's because it heavily involves taste of art and creativity. But technical methods such as bridge building or early technologies, are ways that are thought of by logic and critical thinking. It was figured by people to make things easier for practical purposes. Unlike artistic originality, early technical methods like this are quite likely to be thought of independently by separate nations without contact.

Brilliant! 13 sticks will make a bridge or shelter of any size. Practical usage is endless. It is light, cheep and fast to construct and deconstruct, when needed. Спасибо за науку. Thank you for sharing.
Its good that the art of building sun bridges is still there and the knowledge not forgotten, the Chinese was building bridges when we was still living in caves in Europe and Middle East
Grandpa Amu, please tell us more about yourself! Where in China are you? What does your family do for a living? How did you learn to work so skillfully with your hands? Keep up the good work! I'm a fan in British Columbia, Canada.
This is in my top 5 favorite UA-cam channels. Honestly I wish I could spend a few months living in a hut nextdoor learning what this man has to teach.
How i wish too
很喜歡阿木爺爺的視頻,利用簡單的道具將中國老祖先的智慧與古老技藝,在你的巧手下一一呈現出來,真是令人嘆為觀止,謝謝你的上傳
That is thousands of years of experience and knowledge imparted in just a few minutes.
Amazing.
The technics are awesome. The bridge hold without any bolds, nails, screws, brackets and so on. Wonderful.
It's a Leonardo Da Vinci's project, self supporting bridge
No. this technique is much older than Leonardo da Vinci and was develloped and first used in ancient China.

I've been a carpenter for 40year's it's always a pleasure to watch a clever man with the basic tools
Thank you for showing the youth the way, very clever this man. Extremely agile too!! Well done
It's easy to think, but it's very hard to put into practice, and you need skills ...
👍👍👍👍
*It's really great and respectful.*
Thanks for your support

Honestly some day when i retire i may go over there to live. Couple thousand over here is alot over there.
This is not a Chinese concept, it is a model of Da Vinci’s Self Supporting Bridge which is found in his notes from the 16th century in Italy.

Мне нравится все, что делает этот дедушка. У него не золотые, а бриллиантовые руки. И все что он делает, нужно в доме, где живёт семья.
