I gotta say, this guy gives the best explanation with details you can actually see. Hope his subscriber gets up there with the bigger youtubers.
MrPrince2289 Thanks for the huge compliments! I hope we keep coming up! gonna keep pumping videos out 💪🏼
I dont even have an EVO but I still enjoy watching your videos. Very informative!
Thank you! I was able to set my afr gauge with the help of this video. Word of warning however, if you decide to go with the Chicago Club Spec wire harness the gauges will remain powered on even after turning off the ignition.
Dude... 2 words. Thank you. I've been wanting to install my gauges for a while now but couldn't find a detailed video. I also have an ortiz pod waiting to go in. Cleanest dual pod for the X in my opinion.
JonnyG003 Yes! 🙌🏼 for the options yes the best pods imo too. Glad this helps
Thx for the tutorial, just did mine today with the help of your video, it is sad that you aren’t posting any new video anymore, loved all your content 👌
Great step by step videos, man. I hooked up an AEM boost gauge to my Evo last night with ease, following this video. Thanks!
Hector Escobar Amazing! Thanks for the feedback. Pumped up this was able to help!
I was at first not even gonna put in a wideband because some tuners don’t require it, then I realized that it would be a good idea to have, and now after watching this vid I want to do boost and afr😂
Keep up the good work I'm putting those gauges in my car I watch every episode
Michael Hummel Thanks for all the support! Hope this makes it nice and easy
Lol everytime im doing something to my car i come to you from the first video i saw on installing the backup camara to removing the transmission.
Loving you channel, I am slowly building up my Evo X and learning so much from the work you are doing!
Great how to video. All the steps with lots of detail.
bigrustybucket 🤘🏼 Thanks
The perfect guide. I was quoted $800 nzd to have this exact install done. With this great guide I think even I may be able to do it. Love every video mate.
Rowan Stewart 🤙🏼 Glad it gives that confidence! Not as intimidating as it seems
My ortix pod is coming soon and I have those gauges for my X. Perfect timing lol
Adam S Yes!! Glad it helps🤙🏼
good luck. the pod on the driver side always faces toward the window. they have yet changed that. So a lot of money for a piece that is messed up and is not corrected.
EVO JR I’ve installed 4 of these and as you know they are hand made so each time the angle can be a slight different then the next and that goes for the right or the left side. Could they improve on consistency of how centered they are yes but none of them are so far off that I’d be mad about it even a little bit?
Xtra_Slo I had 2 buddies that have them and both are off . Also devin evo x has it and he said the same thing and wasn’t happy with it for the amount you pay.
EVO JR Oh ok so not personal experience. The market is pretty empty with pod options and this is almost the only one giving an oem feel. Next ones down the line are $100~ range and are not sleek looking at all. Look at the cover photo and install its so close this is the first complaint I’ve ever heard.
Doing this on my Ralliart in a few days. Pretty much summed it up in this video. Easy peasy, THANKS!!
Awesome! Hope the job went smooth 🤙🏼
@@xtra_slo1596 it did but....sensor failed within 1000ft of my driveway. AEM is sending me another one thank goodness
A G That sucks don’t a job and then having to do it again. Atleast they sent a new one right away!
Great Video! Ive actually been waiting for a couple months now for my ortiz pod to show up. My stock block put down 552 hp and 445tq I cant wait to take it down the track.
EvoNChill Great! 🙌🏼 Hope this video helps and update some times when the come in 🤙🏼
Super great video bro!! Best step by step ever!! You the man.
Evo Lee Thanks bro! 🙌🏼 Hope this helps 💪🏼
you’re the man. i love watching your videos. i love all the evo channels i’m finding, but none are as precise as your installs haha. i’m installing the vls oled boost gauge this evening and absolutely using this video as the guide. looking forward to your new block evo my dude!
I like the Ortiz and AEM Gauge combination.
Looking forward to my custom Ortiz triple pod pillar trim with three 52MM AEM X-Series Digital Gauges (Wideband UEGO AFR, Fuel Pressure, and Boost)
Started this install tonight, thanks for the heads up on the plastic clips. I’m horrible with fragile plastic.
Once again Xtra slo fantastic video By far best step-by-step on how to install gages.😀👌
Thank you! Glad it helps!
damn nice pod. I used the Perrin steering wheel pod which is nice but if I knew this thing was available...no questions, would have got it.
Stephen H. 👍🏼 Yea I looked at the Perrin in the past but this molded clean look you can’t beat. Super oem look
Let me just tell you! You made my life easier !!! Thank you 🙏 one of the best and only good install video !!
Thanks for the compliment Jorge! Glad this helps out 👍🏼
Videos outstanding as always.
I gotta ask guys, cheeky this but do any of you guys have any experience with “Arashi”
Turbos? Or have heard or known
Someone etc etc…? Because the normal things would say stay away but it appears to me to be an extremely high quality piece of kit
WOW..great tutorial man..I'll diffintly be saving this video for later to do mine in the spring. Thank you for taking the time for doing this.
Ohhh.. and where can I get the dash from?
Fonzie87 Thanks man! Glad this helps. I just added the link the the description for the pod to be purchased 🤙🏼
@@xtra_slo1596 Thank you so much
Thnx for the video saved me money installing my new wideband gauge.
Finally .... I was waiting so long for this video. Thank you so much bro . Happy new year!!!!
Nguyên Antoneus 🤙🏼 Happy New Years! Enjoy!
I got the ETS kit also but the V band set up haven't installed yet because I'm in NY freezing out here so have to wait until spring 😭
Jovanny Jimenez 🥶 need that garage life. Ets turbo kit install video coming soon
The best content man hands down and easy explanation! Thanks man
MAPerformance just made a video on "installing" the AEM X Series and it was close to useless unfortunately, love MAP but they was not helpfut with that. glad I was able to refer back to this video and how much detail you put! however I am wondering why no Oil Pressure Gauge? any links to an install video on that, preferably on an Evo X?
Honestly probably going to do the stuff in the videos but I enjoyed the video
Another great video. You've been a big help with my evo build. Quick question, why do you prefer Amsoil?
Hey man followed your tutorial step by step and it was great help! My wideband is stuck on 14.7 unfortunately tho.. :( do you have any trouble shooting advice?
Anthony J Deleon Yea it sounds like a loose connection to me. Make sure the o2 sensor is pulled in good and the power/ground are solidly connected. Beyond that I’d call the gauge company customer service as they should have a for sure answer. Good luck 👍🏼
Great Video!!! What size gauges should I buy got that bezil? I know you mention not to get deeper ones.. Do they actually come in different sizes? Also did you twist both power sources and use just one of those fuse dongles?
Thanks 👍🏼 I’m using 52mm (60mm available too) you can fit almost any gauge but I do and did suggest the aem Xline series because they are only maybe an 1” thick so helps from it not bottoming out the pod. If your gauge does go to deep it will still work just have to carefully dremel some of the back out. Hole for the wires to be bigger. Also yes you can just twist them together and connect to the one. Could also use separate if you wanted. Another example from the one I showed would be connecting to the cigarette lighter fuse
Hey man I love your videos! It’s very helpful. Btw what kind of T vacuum connector did you used?
Thanks man I appreciate it!! The Vacuum T’s are standard ones you can buy from autozone.
The cluster looks really nice. You think this routing method will also work with a piller pod?
Thank you for this vid.
Alex Jann 🙌🏼 All day! 🙌🏼
Beautifully done.
Niwitte Thanks! 👍🏼
Nice videos. So I was wondering, you just block off the oem port that goes to the oem bov? And route the bov to where the throttle body is?
Love your vids so clean and easy to understand, where do I get the gauge holder?
Excellent video . But I have a question . I have my cluster coming in Friday , and I’m still running my stock BOV . How do I connect the vacuum line along with he (t) split to the stock BOV ? Do I cut the line that comes out from BOV and make split there ? Just need a little clarification.
Yes split the bov with a T 👍🏼 if you watch my ets turbo kit install or the sidewinder kit install you can watch it more clear
Xtra_Slo thank you so much . I will be installing today
Hey man nice video, I have an efr turbo and it has a crv port that says to connect to the intake manifold so I’m assuming I’ll keep that connected and use two T connectors. One connection for the bov and another for the boost gauge on another spot. Wondering your thoughts on this if it sounds correct
Keep up the great work. Thank you for always providing videos with step by step installation. I actually have the same setup as your buddy in which you installed the boost and wideband. Is he experiencing any problems with the wideband gauge always showing lean? I’m having trouble during startup that my wideband gauge is showing lean. Replace the sensor and it seems to still be doing the same thing. Any input will help. Thanks!
Ricky Lor thanks man. Running lean on idle I’d speak to your tuner first and have him take a look at it.
Sorry if this is a dumb question but do you have 3 o2 sensors now? Upstream, downstream & one for the gauge? I'm trying to figure this out. As Im going to be installing my own gauges. I just replaced my upstream o2 sensor so running this won't be hard.
Great video . I just have one question . I did the same setup as you as in the wire tap . But I did notice that the cigarette lighter does not work . Can I put another fuse in the side of the tap to make it work ? Or will it shorten?
Michael Carcamo Thanks! Yes add another fuse to the wire tap. Error in the video, you put a fuse in both sides of the tap and you should be in action 👍🏼
@@xtra_slo1596 thank you
Is there any other way to fix this issue? Used another 15 fuse added but did not fix the issue. :(
Awesome video! For the boost sensor the threads do you happen to know if they are 1/8 ? I'm asking because my throttle body has a tap for nitrous or a boost gage and the thread for it are 1/8. That way instead of using the T I can thread it directly to that tap. Thanks !
Not sure brother sorry. Sure you could get an adapter worst case
Dude you are a beast! Thanks for the videos
Thanks man! 🙌🏼
Never notice till now but when does the boost gauge read 1.8 psi with the power on? Shouldn’t it be 0.0 ? Having the same issues with my aem gauge and it is off by almost 2 psi. Meaning it reads almost 2 psi more then what I’m actually boosting
Hi I live in the uk here people are scared of pushing the stock turbo let alone a hybrid.
Is my Jdm manual car safe with the MHI turbo I am planning on installing ? You Americans push crazy hp stock Uk tuners do not ?
I just purchased the Perrin steering column pods for my Mitsubishi outlander sport. Seems much easier. plus they're adjustable
410 Kane Only takes 5 mins to pop the dash apart for a oem finish with the Ortiz while the Perrin you still need to remove panels to run the wires but have to add screw holes into the car to fit and wires struggled to be hidden. Ortiz finishes as oem Plus the Ortiz doesn’t need adjustments with the pods naturally being fully out of the tachometer vision. To each there own, good luck with the install 👍🏼
@@xtra_slo1596 yep I looked at the column and said " where the hell am I gonna run these wires". 😂Apparently Mitsubishi attached the column cover to the cluster with a pleather dust boot (outlander sport). Other than that the pods looks great. I'd definitely recommend your pods for people who frown upon power tools.
Hi mate i fit the exact same gauge and the boost gauge is saying sensor isn’t plugged in when it is. Any ideas? Does the sensor need its own ground and live?
Can’t wait to put mine on
Hey dude! so yesterday I received my final piece I needed for my gauge project install. Ortiz Triple Pod cluster came in yesterday! I just have 1 question about the your boost gauge install. Why didnt you use the supplied rubber hose and T connector for it? Any specific reason? Is the one you used better and if so what and where are they?
Patrick Joseph Hey man you most likely already installed it but I use my own t’s because mine are heavier duty then the tiny one provided and the hosing I like to use silicone since it deals with heat very well. If not silicone hose I don’t think it comes with enough feet to complete the job
@@xtra_slo1596 Actually all the parts are still in the boxes. Havnt installed just yet. No where to go just yet lol
@@xtra_slo1596 Hey what mm size is the silicon vacuum hose did you use?
Mannn super helpful video! Thanks!
@xtra_slow But what part of the fuse is power top or bottom. Cause if the tap isn't plugged in a certain way, if the fuses blow it will continue instead of stop.
Great video, i was lowkey pissed that you used your wrench as a hammer though lol
I got a 2015 FE. MY stock BOV is in the back of the engine bay coming off my intake pipe. The hose coming off the BOV is short and on a curve. WOuld it be ok to cut the hose in the font of the car that connect to the metal that connects the rear hose ?
Question does all the red wires go together same as the black wires can u wire them on the same bolt for ground
Glow shift has a 3 pod gauge cluster. And is only about 30$ also ati has nice gauge pods that sits on the dash. I've never ordered from Ortiz because 1, they are too expensive, and 2 , they take way too long to ship from what I heard. Like months
whats up bro, had a quick unrelated question. i dropped the subframe when i changed my cutch an didnt properly align my steering wheel to the rod when i was putting everything back together, if i remove my steering wheel and clock spring do you think i could get everything back straight like that? trying too get some opinions. on how too correct my mistake the easiest possible way
@Xtra_Slo
Hey man I just had a question why wide band and boost I bought this gauge cluster and I have a series x boost gauge I'm just trying to figure out what my second gauge should be .... Any tips I was thinking oil pressure but idk I have heard of these obd2 ones for series x any tips
Well, exhaust went well had garage take off the nuts I had a problem with. Now for the gauges..@ 6:14 what is the gray plug clip too next to the skid button? Its just plugged in to no button?
That’s the button for if you have oem projection headlights. It would be a headlight leveling button. My headlight install video shows me adding to my white Evo
Yo xtra_slo can you make a video about the metal vacuum delete
What t size tee did you use and is hook up the same as it would be for stock bov?
Hey man nice vid Do you have a link to the piece at 28:23 ? Not in description thank you
Anthony Flores edited and added 🤙🏼
Xtra_Slo thank you just did mine today
Xtra_Slo I connected mine to fuse 13 15a as well but I had to add a extra 5amps to the fuse tap for it to be able to turn on boost gauge and radio
Any reasons why?
Thanks for the video it is very helpful
Great Guide!
Carlo Diovanni Pierson Colares Thank you 🙌🏼
Where’d you get the Wideband O2 sensor?
Jamaal Lamaaj Aem sells it as a kit, sensor included
What kind of injectors size does the Evo ...1700 cc? or 1050 cc?
M B 1650cc in the white one Evo and 2000cc in the blue
where did you buy your steering wheel cover at? i need one lol
Hey bro you think you could make a tutorial on how to install a grimspeed boost controller on the evo
Itachlazcano21 Just filmed this! Be released next 👍🏼
Xtra_Slo sounds good! I got mine recently but I don’t know how to connect it to my turbo xs bpv
Itachlazcano21 just finishing editing and will clear that up!
DANGGGG YOU THE BEST BRUH
When connecting multiple gauge at the same time, do you connect both red power wires on the fuse tap?
Back to The Furious Yes
Hey I wanna throw a CAI and exhaust do I absolutely need to have a tune on it or can I run it like that for a month or two after install before I get a tune.
Great video!
Anywhere else I can put the 02 sensor for AFR if I have just the cat-back exhaust with stock DP and cat?
Hey man just wanna know for the vaccum hose do I just extend it cause none of the vaccum hose is long enough to go from the fender to t in to the bov
Yea man I get my own vacuum line and t’s. Can get it just from autozone or order silicone (better for heat) The supplied ones are useless and way to short
@@xtra_slo1596 thanks heaps man hoping to install it this week
Got another question I've gotta extend the wire for power to actually connect to the fuse box does it matter which wire you use or along as they are similar its fine cause I can't find how many amps or volts the wires use
Question to connect power how you did it will I need to plug in 2 fuses or will one work ?
Two fuses into the one wire tap
did you feed both gauges from the same fuse?
Question since I live in CA and need a cat to pass smog.
Can the wideband plug into the stock evo cat?
NavDaMan 44 Id get the bung provided welded onto the downpipe. I did just that when I was stock downpipe way back when. Should get your best reading from that
Mind adding a link on where i can get this gauges I’ve seen alot of gauges just can’t decide on which ones thanks
Aem has a whole line off all the different options. They are AEM. Xseries gauges
What size tee fitting is needed?
How long did that instill take you?
You guy have a link for the skinny size gauge ?
I assume the steps for this process in a right hand drive would just be the opposite to those in this video being a left hand drive.
I would assume so
I tried running the boost gauge harness through the firewall but after hours of trying I caved I ran out through the fender 😭
Victor Martinez If I had all the time I’ve wasted and gotten nothing accomplished I could make another channel dedicated to that 😂
which fuse did you use? thanks
Hello,
So I followed this video but when I turned over my car and sat at idle my boost gauge was a positive number. Help!
Need to contact the gauge company. Could be faulty
Good job bro! Can you show how to do the same gauge install on an evo 8/9?
Topgun Evo If I had a example Evo8/9 I would! Almost the same besides hiding the wires. Fuse box just use the cigarette lighter fuse to tap and ground against any bolts against the body
Xtra_Slo thank you sir! I like how you get down on ur videos!
Topgun Evo Thanks man
Where could I purchase gauge cluster with gauge pods ?
I’m selling my entire set up right now. Message me on Instagram @ xtra_slo
What type of amsoil do you use in your evos?
R N I use the 10w-40 Amsoil in the white Evo , thicker seems to work better with the aggressive cams and 5w-30 in the blue stock motor Evo as factory recommends 👍🏼
@@xtra_slo1596 thank you. Signature series, zrod?
R N No, it’s the 10w-40 premium protection. Comes with a black cap and black front label. And if you do the oem weight 5w-30 I use the Amsoil Signature Series
which o2 sensor do you have to replace?upstream or downstream? stock downpipe and testpipe currently. thanks in advance
How much for the stock turbo!?!?
WEStTEXAs Send me a offer threw Instagram PM’s. Xtra_Slo
Have you ever put a turbo kit In a automatic lancer es
Life with Andrew No I haven’t
Why did my afr gauge have a obd connection ?
I did everything but I just can’t figure out why my gauges won’t power on everything should be good but won’t power on with the car
If you fuse tapped it make sure both sides have the fuse inside of it and make sure the grounds are solid
Xtra_Slo I needed both fuses in was only using one whoops
questionmarkil Nice! Glad it was figured out
Which direction does the fuse tap have to face? Up or down? Meaning the wire? Thanks in advance!
What Gauge cluster do you have
Ortiz with aem xline gauges. Selling my set up currently since I’m on a Motec dash now. Message me on IG if interested
What size tees I need
Someone please tell me where do I get those fender liners from 🥺
