That's how I have always done it. If I was in a hurry I would go as high as double that if the battery pack can do 5C charging, technically you can with 2C charging but I don't.
Matt sir, “extDischarge” is used to reduce charge from battery when you want to store it by connecting a battery to the rear port and having it receive the charge from battery connected to the front port. At least that is how my hobbymate D6 duo pro works- if I recall correctly. Like you not an often used feature. As always, nice product review
I think one of my next purchases will be the D300 charger they make... for a dual charger that will charge 4s race packs at 1c , its a decent price... Going to do a little research first, but i think it will he what replaces my aging hitec dual charger.
Charging that 6800MAhr battery at 1C would mean that it can be charged at 6.8 amps for an hour without issue. Whereas charging the same battery at only 1 amp would take almost 7 hours. Thinking that the "Ext discharger" function allows you to add a separate higher capacity discharger to the other charge port and discharge at higher rates via that. My Junsi iCharger can do that at up to 40 amps...for hardcore racing performance. Otherwise, I have received excellent performance and longevity from my several GensAce batteries.
I want it but I don't need it. Already have 2 chargers. Still might get it someday, occasionally would be nice to charge 4 things at once. (And one of my chargers is kinda crap, can't even limit final charge to 4.15v as I often like to do for non competition uses.) Does it sound like I'm trying to justify it to myself? Because I am.
Did you have a lipo fire or something? They are very rare these days, though I do believe in being safer than sorry. I'm just wondering if you've had to experience one before?
Nice review, but I'm not going to lie, when I first glanced at your title I thought you had a sweet new muscle car build. Oh well, a good charger is a pretty necessary part of RC.
I'm going to look into this one. Very cool man. Side note. I want to see the yellow gmc.... I think that what it is Every video... haha, I'm always like.. "what is that truck". I'm like a little kid. "Ohh what's that, what's that, whoa cool what's thats"
Yeah they kinda have to do that. Physics and chemistry and stuff. Don't think I'm the right person to explain exactly why, but it has to do with the fact that you don't want to hit a Lipo with more than 4.2 volts. Since you are also charging to 4.2 volts that means when a battery is almost full the difference between the charging voltage and the battery voltage decreases so it charges gradually slower.
Just thought of another angle on the question though. If you are balance charging, part of the time taken might be in the balance. If that is the case it could be that a charger with a higher balance current would give you a balanced battery faster. We aren't talking about a big improvement however. Probably none on most charges.
the only gens ace battery i’ve ever bought failed after single charge. i’ve been sticking with spectrum even though over priced. nice it comes with adapters!
I had 3 spektrum batteries. They all crapped out with around 15-20 cycles on them . If it would have been 1 of them ok but all 3? I think that's pretty poor
I would never charge without a lipo charger bag even with low current!!!!!! 😱 And always balance charge........😎 Then you can charge with higher current without being affraid of any anything going wrong 😃
Yeah man, doubt it would have even changed temperature let alone gotten warm. People take the 1c charging rule of thumb too seriously sometimes. I charge 2c fairly often and have some packs that are many years and well into triple digit charging cycles old. Of all the things that kill my packs I've never felt ~2c charging was one of them. I wouldn't hesitate to charge my high c packs at 3c If I were in that much of a hurry. Diminishing returns though, faster you charge the faster you hit the amp taper.
I hope you were charging a 15000mah or higher battery at 15 amps, right? Otherwise, that's a bad scene XD This charger is freakin awesome. I am super picking one of these up for all these events nowadays that don't have power at the campsites. Looking at you Axialfest >.>
Meh any half decent lipo pack could handle 2-3c charges np. I have packs factory rated for 5c charge. For a 5000mah battery that's a 25 amp charge! Now I never charge 'em faster than 2c because I'm cheap and I want good life out of my packs, but faster can still be quite safe. Biggest danger I see is trusting some people to do the math correctly.
Would be cool to throw a xt60 on the end of a cigarette lighter cord somehow and be able to charge/run my crawlers on weekend camping trips in the jeep.
Great rule of thumb for new folks 5200mah 5.2amps, 6800mah 6.8amps(if you’re charger goes above 6 amps)etc etc… nice charger for sure! 👍🏾💯
This is excellent advice! Listen to this man!
That's how I have always done it. If I was in a hurry I would go as high as double that if the battery pack can do 5C charging, technically you can with 2C charging but I don't.
Shit man, thank you for that. Have this charger and trying to figure it all out!!!
I like it I’m gonna get it. Thanks for reviewing it 🙏🏻
Just received mine in the mail today, watching this video to make sure I didn’t miss anything

Great information! Thank you for that!
Why I feel there is a story to go along with "not charging at 15 amps" and "safe and not burn your house down". Great video as always
I didn’t burn my house down, but I was scolded for charging at 15 amps. 😉
It would also be great for 1/24 scale fans to charge their batteries on the go.
That’s a great idea! Good call and thanks for watching!
Yeah that bigass 6S he had could charge a LOOOOT of 1/24th scale crawler batts.

Is there a way to check the internal resistance on a LiPo. Artery with this charger? Thanks for your time and video. Happy New Year! 🥳👍🏼
Why i can`t charge without balance connecter?
Because a battery with multiple cells needs to be balanced. It’s for your safety.
Mine say keep saying with balance connector don't know how to charge the batt up ?
Change up 7.4 v 4400 still nothing
I'm sorry, you should probably take this up with the manufacturer or point of purchase. I can't troubleshoot for you.
I have one of these chargers, really like it but how do you get to the resistance/cell screen??
Cycle through using the square button.
I wonder if you could make a adapter to go from xt60 to a clamp and hook it to a car battery 🤔
I’m sure you could, but it might void the battery. Thanks for watching!
I have change 2 x mixed plug for the charger and batt no difference nit charge up the batt unknown why
Best to speak to someone at Gens Ace, that doesn’t sound normal.

Very cool! Sometimes I'm more worried about charging batteries than I am anything else. Thanks for the tips!
What's a balance port... Never seen that
You've never seen a balance port? What kind of batteries do you run?
Might just pick one up. I need something to charge my batteries while on the road
I can help you justify anything!
1 amp, wouln't that be 6hrs?
Yep, that's the joke.
How do I know what to choose in “Target Voltage”?
I got r-line 1400mah 6s bat: does it mean that I should pick 1,4 in “Target Current” or am I wrong?
Target voltage must match your Mah rating. So you’re right, 1400mah equals 1.4 amps. For safety!
Did you have a lipo fire or something? They are very rare these days, though I do believe in being safer than sorry. I'm just wondering if you've had to experience one before?
Nope, never had a fire before, but I've always been overly cautious!
Nice review, but I'm not going to lie, when I first glanced at your title I thought you had a sweet new muscle car build. Oh well, a good charger is a pretty necessary part of RC.
So... When was it that u tried charging something at 15 amps...???
Comp batteries on location, and I got scolded by all of my peers! Thanks for watching!
Does this charger automatically balance the batteries after charging , or do you have to balance them manually after the battery charges?
Automatic balancing provided the balance lead is attached during charging.
Great…Thanks for the response!
What's that beetle behind you?
Carbon fibre body from Vietnam. Thanks for watching!
I'm going to look into this one.
Very cool man.
Side note.
I want to see the yellow gmc.... I think that what it is
Every video... haha, I'm always like.. "what is that truck". I'm like a little kid.
"Ohh what's that, what's that, whoa cool what's thats"
It’s a Toyota actually! Featured in Best Scale Builds of 2021!
THANKYOU for sharing SIR. Looks very interesting 🇬🇧🇺🇲🕊️✌🏼👍🏼🤩
Looking for a new charger this might be it.
Good advice but if at a event more amps is better.
Curious, does it have a individual cell monitor or graph to check on cells while charging?
Yep!
You can charge a quality 100c+ pack at 30+ amps without issue. Racing guys do it every time.
Does this charger slow down it's charging speed once the battery gets close to full? The two chargers I have do that and it bothers me. Thanks!
Yes, and that’s proper operating procedure. Thanks for watching!
Yeah they kinda have to do that. Physics and chemistry and stuff. what is a “telephone”?
😂
the only gens ace battery i’ve ever bought failed after single charge. i’ve been sticking with spectrum even though over priced. nice it comes with adapters!
Ah that sucks. Gens ace has been my go to sense 2011.
I can understand not giving it a second chance. Batteries arnt cheap.

Typically I charge in a Lipo bag, but for the purposes of this video I did not. Thanks for watching!
@@scalebuildersguild Besides lipo bags dont do too much especially the cheap ass ones frm chyna bat safe is the way or ammo boxes are sweet too
Could have prob got away with charging that gens ace battery at 15a 😁 no, seriously, 2c would be 13.6 amps
Yeah man, doubt it would have even changed temperature let alone gotten warm. People take the 1c charging rule of thumb too seriously sometimes. I didnt know anything about charging at 15 amps being bad. Ive seen the guys rule of thumb for matching mah good info anyways.
Thanks for watching!
I hope you were charging a 15000mah or higher battery at 15 amps, right? Otherwise, that's a bad scene XD

Hello from southeast alaska do you have any stickers for my rock crawlers remote control
Hi! I don’t make stickers for remote controls. Maybe look online?
I was talking about channel stickers to show support for your channel on my remote control rock crawlers
@@hellofromsoutheastalaskarc7517 I sell stickers, but they’re not available right now. Soon!
How much do you charge for this video? 😬
😂
Would be cool to throw a xt60 on the end of a cigarette lighter cord somehow and be able to charge/run my crawlers on weekend camping trips in the jeep.
Looks like 2 ac ports.. that kool
Good call starting off by cutting out opportunity for 15amp jokes!
🤘🍻🤘
It that had some USB ports on there.. that be perfect..
Okay.. nvm
Let's see you even try to charge it at 1C, it won't do it.
i was 1 st here ;)
