The Epic Journey to Britain’s Most Remote Pub
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 жов 2017
- What would you do for a pint? Would you hike 18 miles through the Scottish Highlands? Sail whale-infested waters? Battle Orcs and forge through the Mines of Moria into the fires of Mordor? (Maybe not that last one.) We sent two of our producers on a quest to find Britain’s most remote pub, The Old Forge in Knoydart, Scotland. With no roads in or out, one does not simply walk to The Old Forge. It took our stalwart producers a few tries to finally reach the tavern’s doors-three by land, one by sea-but the journey there certainly worked up a thirst. Cheers!

This isn't the remotest British pub, this is the remotest Mainland pub, even the owner corrects this.
The remotest pub is on St Kilda and island 84 miles west of the mainland.
on where at kilda? :p
Ninjanugets123 Google it
But it says the island has no permanent population since 1930!
ConradInternational there's a military base/qinetiq there year round but they to shifts out there so it doesn't count as permanent. There's a pub there for them.
The pub on St Kilda (the puff inn) closed (demolished to make way for a new building) over a year ago. And regardless, it was never actually a public house, or a licensed premises. It was a NAAFI canteen which sold drink. Also, it was never actually called the puff inn. That was just a nickname people who worked on st kilda gave it. So the old forge is and was the remotest pub in the united kingdom.
If the Puff Inn were actually a real pub, it would have been the remotest pub in Europe.
The scenery really is beautiful and what a name - The Old Forge. Awesome. Mmmmm now I feel like a good pint. 🍻🍺😋
Simpleton
The landlord is a rude arsehole who rips off everyone. Check the Google and TripAdvisor reviews and then don't go in. Just take some booze and drink it on the shore.
Sean of the Dead reference..... Amazing.
*Shaun
leiya107 blasphemy, isn't it?
Not exactly. But I felt like, if his name was Sean, he would've been a played by Gerard Butler or Chris Hemsworth, donning machine guns shooting all the zombies and saving everybody. Oh, and he drinks wine, never pints.
leiya107 Cheers to that 🍺
Yessss except it's Shaun
AND WAIT FOR THIS TO ALL BLOW OVER
Film Byte Productions would be a good place for it cos it's so isolated
*THANK YOU.*
I was waiting for that, even if I'm stumped as to what's supposed to blow over.
The editing and storytelling are fantastic. Edgar Wright would be proud.
Do not go there. The owner is a prick. Don't say you weren't warned.
I adored this video. Fantastic editing, great cinematography and a little bit of humour. Loved waiting for the boot to open Haha
"It's totally impossible to drive here." Said the guy standing 5 feet away from a Defender 😂
probably just used to transport stuff from the ferry its sat on a track with a cul de sac at either end?
They have a few miles of road unconnected to the national road network. You're welcome.
Thank you breaking news, very cool
Shaun of the Dead??
Yeees. I love the reference to this movie.
More like At World's End
Love your videos. One of my favourite channels. Informative, beautifully shot, cleverly edited, fascinating topics, and content that I can share with my kids without worrying about an f-bomb any moment. Great work 👍🏻
Really amazing editing! In fact, I think the vast majority of videos on this channel have amazing camera work and editing. That's the kind of thing I kinda want to do in the future so...hire me? Just kidding, it doesn't work like that.
I feel you friend, I wish it was that easy...
The reviews should obviously be accurate and are not to be judged by style and this review is far from accurate.
I love all the references in this video
Amazing editing and amazing story.
You are awesome storytellers :)
Wow thanks for this video! You have so put this pub on out ‘to visit list’ great work!
i really liked the editing and jokes in this video as well as the way in which you told us not only about the pub but the area in general with all of your plans :D
Normally, the stories are told by those at the destination, but here it sounded like it was yours! After all, the title does start with, “The trip...”
Really enjoyed this one.
2 days hike and one night in a bothy* For those that don't know bothy's are small little brick/stone huts often with a fireplace out in the scottish highlands (mostly) which anyone is welcome to use to stay a night when hiking
Michael Moore that is so awsome
Daniel Moore Bothies.
I can't believe I've seen the person behind the voice finally! She's nice!
Amazing xD I love the camera work and humor behind this one
I didn't expected that actual producer would show up
The content in this channel is always masterfully done. I hope you get more views.
Have a pint and wait for it all this to blow over!
Bellissimo e fantastico il Post, complimenti x il video
amazing video!!! super awesome, guys!! do more like this!
This pub should be like, if you get there your pint is free
I love the humor!
This was cool and funny. I loved it❤️
Hiking there is now on my bucket list :p

I just LOVE the
"Shawn of the Dead" vibe!!!

Nice little Shaun of the Dead spoof

That train wasn't just a train, it was T H O M A S T H E T R A I N
*That chased harry potter*
it wasn't T H O M A S T H E T R A I N
it was the hogwarts express, whose driver apparently couldn't see a flying car infront of the train
I get that ur joking, but isn't thomas the train blue?
Really enjoyed the Edgar Wright styled cinematography in this video, cheers!
Great Clip
The scenery looks like something out of Narnia
Please do more of this
The video is so nicely made !!
Does ANYONE know Who's the woman that's providing the narration and traveling to The Old Forge?
Her name is Hilda Ogden. You're welcome.
Holy spit did we just see the faces to the voices of all these videos?
All that effort and that pint was poured incorrectly 😭
i watched a previous video 2 dudes and there kids took the journey, but when they got there the pub was closed...bummer
a Harry POTTER and LOTR reference together are like eggs and bacon
*A referrence to Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Shawn of the Dead all in one video*
*Noice*
So you think this video is for children?
This video is great! It reminds me of The Cornetto Trilogy in a way. Did anyone else get the Shaun of the dead reference throughout the video?
if only the new GBS episodes were as fun to watch as this....
Dormammu, I've come to bargain.
this video is so cool itself
Great video. Shaun of the Dead is referenced and I detected a hint of Wes Anderson.
amazing
Love to go there....
This is a brilliant homage to Shawn of the Dead
Enjoy the breathtaking scene..omg there are 3 whales next to the boat
Be warned, this is a terrible pub, just take a look at the trip advisor reviews. I'm a 82 year old man and I haven't disliked anyone as much as jp (the owner) since the war.
What did he do
Ah most remote on the "mainland"
nice Shawn of the dead reference
I only realised it was a nod to Shaun of the Dead on the third round. Should've upped the rhythm and said something for the last pint-drinking shot
On our way thank you
I know someone who swam there from the nearby Tom Mcleans adventure training camp lol. Shame they didn't show his whale boat worth looking up on youtube or seeing if you visit
... and wait for all of this to blow over. :)
Definitely inspired by shaun of the dead!
It's funny how they picking a way to go
Really bulking out those play times.
Ha ha.... I live in Canada and I think we can build the most remote pub in the world ! But we love our moose and bears... So I think we will let them keep their land
And the owner is French! Ahah
This. I laughed when I saw it.
France and Scotland have links going back centuries, ala the 'Auld Alliance'
array s Do you mean German?
Edgar Wright editing, I see what you did there :0
please someone help, what is the orchestral, violin piece that plays during their journey montages?????????
It's called "Lick My Love Pump" by the guitarist from Spinal Tap. You're welcome.
I would walk there, it would be fun
Isn't this the location for the "Hounds of Baskerville" episode of Sherlock? damn pretty cool
0:01 there is a record for everything nowadays
Coolest video ever!
Just hire a Cessna and land it somewhere, if there’s no open field get a sea plane and land on the lake.
*ENJOY THE BREATH TAKING SCENERY*
Digging the Edgar Wright / Shaun of the Dead inspired editing.
Dem Edgar Wright quick cuts
Please can you tell me ??. What is the camera you use for this awesome footages ?? I tried too much time to pause and watch the model. But couldn’t. 😃😃. Please tell me. What is the camera body. And the lenses. 😊😊.
Thank you ☺️
Those whales!!!
The editing reminds me of Edgar wright
I love my Refrigerator. So EASY..........
As soon as I saw the water it was pretty freaking obvious you get on a boat.
references to Edgar Wright's movies. its a nice pub and you go there by boat. the end
So funny 😂😂😂😂😂
I like their Business model. Im going to open up a chain of inconvenience stores.
Cool Video .... and now im dam thirsty.
OK its a long way for a pint may be one day
sigh. what does the inside of the pub look like.
After you factor in the shipping costs, I wonder, how much would a beer cost?
Does the remote pub have a TV?
Been there
When in doubt just take the ferry
or, the flying car
First reaction:Why is this kid’s show talking about beer? Second reaction:Why is this documentary narrated like it’s on Nick Jr?
basically Juneau Alaska
A pint?! Thats it?!?
*LET ME BE THE FIRST TO TELL YOU THAT YOU HAVE A DRINKING PROBLEM*
near Minas Tirith.
Damn
I like your jacket. Where can i buy that?.. thanks..
sooooooooooo
i go by plane?
