    Can you provided a better image of the membranes that allow the separation of the Ox from the Hy. The mechanical aspect of the oxygen manifold is not clear to me. or where I can find a better video on it. I agree this is great for experiments and I teach the grandkids but I have never compressed it before because of safety concerns. I plan to build a similar project to replicate your success. I love the dehydrator addition.

    How does the re circulation between the cell/hopper work with respect to the separator material/hole pattern/gasket?
    I understand the top two channels with the gasket "notched out" to separate the gas, but at the bottom of the cell, is there just an open channel to allow recirculation, and you assume that due to bubbles rising upwards & water flow keeps the gases from mixing?

    • @TheDIYScienceGuy
      @TheDIYScienceGuy  6 років тому +1

      Thank you very much! And all you assumptions are right!!! Good job 😉

    • @dandyjenkem1338
      @dandyjenkem1338 6 років тому +1

      @@TheDIYScienceGuy What if you used a solid separator (not fibrous) with just a small hole towards the bottom of the recirculation hole in the electrodes. The same logic would apply. I wonder how this would affect resistance? This way the whole cell could be sealed with just gaskets - no gluing the outside ;) Hard to explain via text hah

    • @TheDIYScienceGuy
      @TheDIYScienceGuy  6 років тому +2

      Well than the current could only flow trough that hole, which would increase the resistance a lot. I actually tried this years ago and the result is, very little gas production. But good question! Thanks!

      They are very popular in Europe. Exactly my idea, to use LPG Installation for hydrogen. I thought about mixing hydrogen with oxygen at the very end just before it gets to the engine so I can run on browns gas which contains more energy than pure hydrogen. You can set all the fuel dose as you wish so its a lot easier than manipulate with gasoline ECU.

    Would something like a thin layer of vegetable oil on the surface of the tanks act as a surfactant to "pop" the foam? (It would reduce the purity of the produced hydrogen, but could be automatically refilled with a reservoir.

    Hoe veel bar drukte is binnen de veilige norm voor waterstof gas ?
    Ik wil ook met zonnepanelen waterstofgas genereren en gebruiken ! Maar is de vraag hoe veel liter waterstofgas heb ik nodig 100m3 ruimte op te warmen ? En hoe veel energy heb ik nodig om benodigde waterstofgas te genereren ?

    • @TheDIYScienceGuy
      @TheDIYScienceGuy  5 років тому

      13 bar is "veilig" als je onder een hogere druk wil opslaan heb je een speciale waterstof tank nodig waarbij het metaal aan de binnenkant van de tank beschermt is zodat het waterstof de tank niet kan aantasten. Ik weet niet hoe veel H2 er nodig is om 100m3 te verwarmen. Mijn generator gebruikt ongeveer 12.5W per liter geproduceerde waterstof.

      The DIY Science Guy I'm assuming that your dad is an arcrylic tube depending on its thickness it should be able to hold a vacuum. if you had a petcock on the bottom and also the top two totally isolate your medium in the acrylic tube you can pull a vacuum on it with an inexpensive vacuum pump, and leave it pull a vacuum maybe overnight and any moisture in that tube will boil off in the vacuum and be vented into the atmosphere and your medium will be completely free of moisture everyday. water boils at room temperature in a vacuum.

    Hi James. Why not use a membrane water separator for your compressor? Compressors use them all the time to filter water out of the air before the water has a chance to get into your air tools or paint guns. I use them for my airbrushes. They can be had for cheap and come in a variety of sizes based on your output.

    • @TheDIYScienceGuy

I bought PolyPropilen 150g/m2, which is actually for weed control. Unfortunately, the material is completely waterproof and doesn't conduct electricity. So when I apply a multimeter, there is no resistance (Ohm) measurable. Can this even work like this? Unfortunately, I have very little knowledge, so I would appreciate scientific answers. It would also be great if someone could provide an Amazon link to a more suitable membrane material (in the EU). Thank you very much in advance.

    S1R9A9M9 ran his mower engine on just water in carb, with amps through plug the same time.
    ( water vapor pressure + small Hydrogen ) A Triple coils assembly was
    used with plated #14 gray and red
    copper wire from riding mower chassis. Circuit has 100% on 7turns
    Magnetic field as 90 degrees over 5 turns of #12 gauge wire for firm
    frame for the upper 7 turns. see wire with side tap joint #1 to ground,
    6-10amps through plug, accessory spark gap, diodes, Timing shifted to
    -34degrees late timing by the field, the 6-10amps fire only when plug
    fires through 13 turns. Joint #2 as Hi V + amps together to plug. Water
    in carburetor changes to water vapor pressure at low end of piston
    stroke, along with minute amount of hydrogen gas that also fires. Vacuum
    pulls only level of water engine needs. Electrical Circuit source of
    resistance to limit current not known. Battery start, battery removed.,
    Circuit runs on onboard dual alternators - Probably AC for field + DC
    for spark plug amps, (or Bridge rectifier to get 15 A) . High voltage
    ignition is negative with positive ground. EGR was not applied on
    Briggs 18HP as was done with earlier car conversions that used sets of
    obsolete relays. S1R coils was to replace the unusual relays. He called
    it electromagnet + booster coils.Original spark plug of 4kohm changed to
    125ohm QC12YC About 1300 v required to push current through plug.
    Induction cross voltage leakage from Ignition., or flyback high volts effect from 2MH coil included.
    Engine ran on water at idle speed and sounds somewhat
    like a water pump! Parts contained in plastic tub on side of engine with
    wires coming down from upper engine cowl and all wires wrapped in blk
    elec tape - it's not just 1 plug wire!. Alternator wires always come out
    on left side Briggs starter motor. Extension cord , if jumped at the plug
    end, can be the extra long RETIURN WIRE from bottom of spark plug he
    said was required and back to tub alt wire. See S1R9A9M9 Videos #1 + #2. at slow

    Can we do what to do to the colorless electrolyte? These chromium oxides are very dangerous !!! How many times have you come to the touch of a goat with a yellow solution? Although the pH> 14 solution is alkaline and such a solution can not cause cancer ...

      I never touched it. I'm going to use something else as the electrodes but am not sure yet what it's going to be.

      I am cordially waiting for you to perform a generator repair, to explain to the audience what is happening with membranes, and of which the material is the best quality of the membrane. When will you do the repair? When handling the overhaul, it can come into contact with the rest of the electrolyte after the process, but I think it's not as toxic to humans, it's dangerous, but I'm only using protective rubbers, but I think the main cause of hexavalent chromium formation is too high cumulative voltage, and poor quality INOKS prohrom material ???

      @@TheDIYScienceGuy Try Osmosis foils for the membranes. A friend has much success in his seperator cell.
