- The Craufurd of Jordanhill Memorial at Kilbirnie (NS314536) commemorates Captain Thomas Craufurd and his wife Janet Ker. It dates from 1594 and Thomas died in 1603. He was buried on the side where the inscription is to be found. This is one of six Ayrshire 16/17th century memorial monuments, the others being in Kilmaurs, Ballantrae, Ayr, Dunlop and Largs.
Enjoyed that Roger 👌thanks educational as always.

Thanks
Always an interesting video. I've never come across a tomb housing like that in my travels... so far. Very interesting , and I'll now be on the lookout for one. Thanks Roger.
Thank-you. It does seem to be unique in style.
Aloha
Thanks, Roger. My own line is a cadet of the Crawfurd lineage that is associated with the Crawfurds of Ardmillan, which is is currently believed to be related to the Craufurds of Kilbirnie, of whom Capt. Craufurd was a member. (My own deep-clade Y-DNA test results are a confirmed close match of the descendants of the Crawfurds of Ardmillan.) The first of the Kilbirnie Craufurds, Malcolm, is purported to be a brother to James Crawfurd of Seidhill, a burgess of Paisley who funded the chapel of Sts. Columba and Mirin at Paisley Abbey. His tomb slab rests agaist the back wall of the chapel along with that of his great nephew, Robert. The arms of that Crawfurd line (which has the typical Crawfurd ermine fess with an added fleur de lis in the base) are carved into the slabs of both men.
The Craufurds have a very complex genealogy!
I'm not good with ladders either.
:-)
