Hi Robert just came across this can’t believe I’ve never seen it after it being posted years ago. Love the picture of our wee granny Murn and your sister lots of memories come flooding back watching the old places a lot no longer here . Your Cousin Calum
I mind as a wean how I thought Kilbirnie was so big , Templetons , Galbraithies ect . Now it's a sad shell o a town ! Sad , but still I remember hearing a when furnace being tapped and if you knew which member of your family was at a certain furnace you knew where they were , I sorta miss the days o smog , at least we all had a job - in the Mill , the Dye works , or the Stealworks ! Those days are long gone . X
iv'e lived in vast housing schemes in Glasgow one of which was the worst streets in the city,i then lived in the slums of London and then places in Manchester ..i now live in Kilbirnie and it's the best place iv'e ever lived..
In your glengarnock primary school ,the teacher I remember most was miss arnot and her bell she usto come right to the boys toilet and look up ringing her bell on the outside shouting while inside there was a competition in action drew nelson myself and peter mctagert ,guess who won by pissing not just highest clear over the wall but right in her face it wasent planned just sorta happen,d.
