Think letting her parents go is the true happy ending. She is forever free from Shars influence.
They should add an ending where you and your partner get married or something. Think it would be a nice touch after the hell you guys went through.

It goes either way, SH would never be truly "free" of shar. Hence why Shar was being petty about the whole ordeal. The choice is meant to make SH make sure she knows that she was influenced by her. If she lets her parents go, she will have to live with the fact Shar got one last laugh at her for being her parents killer. If you saves them, Shar is petty and makes sure the brand always strikes pain in her when she is happy. I personally think saving her parents is the better ending because she seems genuinely more content and happier. Sure she will have to deal with pain, but what better way to spit in the face of the "Goddess of Loss" than bearing her temper tantrums and be happy with you family and lover? Sure you have pain, but you basically throw up the middle finger because you got what you wanted

@@_YewreiI liked your comment, but I felt compelled to still reply: very, very well said. And I wholeheartedly agree with you

She was already free from Shar’s influence. The curse can be cured within the Selune church. It’s really called an ailment but that’s no longer canon in Forgotten Realms (Faérun) noted in the DMG. Ratified to be “cure.” At anyrate, it’s bad writing in that they forgot Shar isn’t as powerful as she used to be before the Sundering. The big god Ao pretty much nerfed guys like Shar due to magic abuse. I’m guessing Larian didn’t want to bring in Ao for this game 😂.

@@_Yewreisee my comment. The “pain” is solvable. Shadowheart isn’t the first convert from Shar. Minor oversight from Larian. IMO, they should’ve just made a new God/Goddess up. It would’ve suspended disbelief much more.

I disagree. Shadowheart fighting to get her true family back is the true happy ending. Otherwise she's just wandering aimlessly with no closure. That's not a life I wish on anyone.

This might sound cruel, but I think Shadowheart got off easy with that ending. Or at least the game made it sould like she did. Don't get me wrong, I want for nothing than for her to have a happily ever after, but... Shar still having power over her through her curse should be made more grave than it actually is. In Forgotten Realms lore, she would've condemned herself not only to a life of pain, but to an eternal afterlife of it as well. A noble sacrifice, but one that should weight heavily on her parents would they be spared. This ending makes it seem like Shar kind of... gives up after a while.

I wonder if shar still has claim over her soul

I suppose that really depends if Shar ever really had a hold on her soul. She'd always been a Selûnite after all.

In dnd lore, a mark of a god makes you go automatically go to the deity. There is precedent for Selune to claim shadowheart but in lore Shadowheart will face eternal torture in Shar’s realm.
No, wish does not break this. Gods have the better version called “Bend Reality”. Selune may intervene or ask Kalimvor to judge your final resting place. So, Kalimvor > Selune=Shar > Shadowheart in choosing your afterlife.

@@mingkaipan832personally, if selune has equal claim over shars dominion and claim. I see no reason that Kelemvor wouldn't judge in favor of selune. After all, the mark isn't out of genuine following but was done out of deceit and fanatacism. To me, I see no reason that Kelemvor wouldn't rule Shadowhearts soul to be claimed by selune. Especially if Shadowheart was already a selunite to boot and was forcefully made into a sharran. You can even see she had no desire or want to be a sharran if you read her final note to herself before she was forcefully dragged away to lose her memories in the night orchid cove. In addition to that, I'm convinced that shars curse wouldn't hold because through game lore, it seems that Shar played the line of intervening with mortal affairs by getting viconia do to interfere with shadowhearts life. If that is the case and Shar was using proxy to intervene in mortal affairs; Ao wouldn't look kindly on that either. Regardless, Kelemvor/Ao > Shar = Selune > Curse. I'm fairly confident that Shadowheart wouldn't be condemned strictly off how fickle Shar played her hand. And if we are going off forgotten realms lore, Shar did a big no no doing what she did because when Ao created the new "Tablets of Fate" Shar was one of the gods that was made to be in check and NOT allowed to have direct influence with mortals through proxy or in any other form.
TLDR: Shar's claim over SHs soul is fickle at best and incapable of claiming her soul at worst. From my understanding of the Forgotten Realms lore and in game lore, Shar's mark is more of a petty bitch tantrum that is meant to spite and hurt shadowheart for turning away from her. In regards to her soul, based of what I typed in my article, Shar would have Kelemvor/Ao being opposed to her claim and would more than likely deem SH soul in favor of Selune. Given that Jergal was also witness to SH's strife, there is a good chance he would have a say in her fate as well. Seeing as Jergal was also capable of basically telling Bhaal "lol no" when it came to Durge being sacrificed due to you turning away from Bhaal. So yeah
