He's not canon. First off, Spartan II numbers didn't go up that high. Second, that short is batshit crazy. Third, the first scene showed Keyes, Cortana, and John together even though the only time they were together was the journey from Reach to Alpha Halo.

ImJustSaiyan while I agree that he should’ve been mentioned, we don’t know if he is even still alive. Last I recall, he was still on reach before it was glassed, so he may be dead for all we know. He had a great story though IMO

18 Spartan II’s out of the original 33 still alive is a really damn good combat record. 2525 to 2559? Almost 34 years geez these guys are incredibly durable.
Linda was actually with chief aboard the pillar of autumn, although considered dead. Chief had placed her body into a cryopod only a few minutes after she died which preserved her well enough that Halsey managed to revive her in the events between halo 1 and 2. Her cryo pod had been jettisoned in space following normal evacuation procedures when the autumn was getting evacuated, and recovered by chief before he met back with Johnson's pelican with the longsword.
Of course, you don't know that if you only play the games. Linda was practically, the only known "surviving" spartan since her and chief were the only one to leave reach aboard the autumn.
I like to imagine she's the co-op Spartan in CE.

Also in Halo Combat Evolved anniversary, when you reach the control room for the cryo pods where that one get gets killed by an elite, one of the screens displays Linda and her status.

You should do a video on Spartans that died and some of their sacrifices, specifically Spartan 2's because of how legendary they are.
It's in the back of my mind ;)
I feel like Spartan 3's deserve that more tho. Not to take anything away from the 2's since they're demigods at this point, but Spartan 3's were literally bred to be "disposable heroes", and would never enjoy widespread fame and/or recognition as the 2's did, which they only got as a way to keep morale up within the UNSC. ONI would never allow the world to know of their circumstances or the missions they undertook as 3's. If you think about it, in a way, the circumstances the 3's had were worse than the 2's in that they were considered expendable.
Given, they actually had a choice in joining the SPARTAN program unlike the 2's, but at least when 2's die, it's considered a massive loss for the UNSC. With 3's, you could lose as much as 300 in a day and it would all be just another day in the SPARTAN office.

@@wcc4269 2s were the only ones abducted. 3s were screened from orphans of glassed colonies and were given the choice of continuing to be just orphans or become SPARTANs and get revenge on the Covenant.

Spartan 1's= Increased strength, speed, reflexes, sight. Weren't given suits. Seargent Johnson is a Spartan 1.
Spartan 2s= Everything I listed previously. As well as increased bone density blood circulation and many other things. Not to mention the addition of mjolnir armour. But taken at a young age at the beginning of the Covenant War out of fear and did inhumane augmentations that caused extreme pain but were a means to an end.
Spartan 3s= Adults, that willingly volunteered to take new drug augmentations, across the board similar to Spartan 1's on but were given modified mjolnir armour that wasn't as effective as Spartan 2 armour. But it's was MUCH cheaper to produce. So yes Spartan 3's had to rely much more heavily on teamwork.
Spartan 4's= Adults, again volunteering. Not given any form of inhumane augmentation. Everything is strictly speed, sight, cardiovascular, mental, slight strength increase.. but nit nearly the level of a Spartan 1, 2, or 3. But given advanced training and more advanced mjolnir than 2. But never recieved Body Frame Modifications thus still retaining Normal human height.
To be clear Sgt Johnson a Spartan 1. If he was given mjolnir armour he would outright trash a Spartan 4.

Nah I'm pretty sure it's propaganda, Noble 6 is hella dead. As are most Spartan IIIs.
@@DTKennedy Spartan IIIs were vastly different than IIs. IIs were one man armies. IIIs functioned more as just super soldiers meant to die in suicide missions.
Spartan never die, they just went into Domain and wait to be respawned.
S3's were also more of head hunters that take your mom's pumpkin off of her porch and fart spartan gas into it. The next Halloween griefer that comes along will explode when they pick it up.

Fr. RIP Will. I knew as soon as he was rescued, since I never heard of him before it was only a matter of time before he was killed off. Still sucks because I liked him, he died to the same blow Kurt survived in SPI armor, he just didn't have the main character powers unfortunately.
I wish Will survived. Also I wonder if Maria-062 fought with Blue Team between Halo 2 and Ghosts of Onyx in the Battle of Earth.

To be fair, while Fred is a officer, he's not the fireteam leader, which at least in real life, down range, fireteam leader has last say, but im sure that Master Chief would listen to suggestions to him, don't know if talked about in any of the lore or not.
@@sierra7534 Glasslands Novel, Spartan II Naomi and a team of ODST's went back to Onyx and busted them out while also arresting Halsey for the whole abduction and conscription of children into the spartan program. This also led to the apprehension of Engineers that were knowledgeable in forerunner technology that decided to work with the UNSC giving them the edge in technology needed to craft better equipment as well as wrap up the construction of the Infinity. That was the book in a nutshell but that whole trilogy is worth the read despite people saying how dull it can be at times, it goes into the gray areas of the UNSC as well as giving some personality to the Spartans showing that they do have some semblance of human emotion.
As a hardcore halo fan all the way to 5 and having a brake from the halo universe I’m so happy to see you still knocking around on UA-cam! Just starting to get sucked back in ready for infinite!!

Omega Team have some pretty interestingly cool armor customizations and add-ons. Any data on why that is and what they entail exactly?
Sadly no.
I can explain this fortunately. Omega team designs were introduced during Halo wars 2, 343 in the meantime has a roll-over art design by changing both art director and writer. They are inspired by both old (Reach specifically) and new art style, so they decide to make a mix between them for Halo wars 2, which is very great. That explains the modular design for Omega team, which is similar to Reach's spartans. Lore-wise, they are using old builds of the Mjonir armor because they were cryo-sleeping for the whole time (it's true for Red team, it is possible for Omega team but I'm not exactly sure)

Bit offtopic but Halo 4's Elite animations are pretty good in-game. That Elite near the end dodged like a pro.
I do like how a lot of the Spartan teams varied based on mission. As casualties mounted up/members splitting up, the teams became more defined.

Oh boi Halo Renegades coming soon, now I get to hear what's so amazing about it since I sadly lack the funds for Halo novels at the moment. I really hope we get to one day see a story or something with Maria-062, I think the idea of a Spartan II of all the existing types becoming a civilian to be interesting. Plus her current husband is married to a 7 foot super soldier who is built like a truck and is cute as a button, I'm just saying we should to meet the lucky man.
That definitely would be an interesting topic for a Halo novel of how a Spartan II or even a Spartan III acted in a civilian lifestyle!!!

Spartan 3s should also get their own full fledged story arc. The 3s were short lived but DAMN they deserve at least something! The book Ghosts of Onyx deserves at least 2 games by itself too. Damn.
you could say the s3 did exactly what they where made to do, short lived, suicide stalling missions with high return on investment to the war effort, on a tiny budget (compared to s2)

Thank you for stating the little known fact regarding Spartan teams being fluid. And the mention of the Spartans that fell on Reach. Not a lot of people appreciate Spartan II lore these days, and it was great to see accurate content regarding them despite the new generation.
Maria is one of those rare instances where Halo Lore goes utterly "derp". Aside from that, it's cool to know that there are still a large number of still-active Spartan IIs. I hope that future games integrate these characters somehow, obviously this is assuming if 343 can get their shit together in regards to storytelling.

Spartan II. Best Spartans.... I've gone through alot of the audio books and the 2s are by far the best.
Theybreally were. The only ones trained to be the ultimate soldiers. Others afrerward are meant to be disposable, budget cuts Spartans. Although S3 are badasses they suffered UNSC/ONI bad decision and horrible armor. S4 are wannabes and doesn't compare except Buck because he is Capt Reynolds.

Out of all the teams, Grey Team (aside from blue) sticks out to me the most. They're the textbook definition of Special Forces. Very similar to the real life SAS of the British Army.
Don't get me wrong, the rest of the Spartans are all awesome and unique. But Grey for me represents the old school definition of traditional special forces rather than simply Sci-Fi super soldiers on the front lines.
I'm probably a bit biased since Jai Is of South Asian origin (like my self xD).
I tried to read their adventures unlike my brother they didn't interest me as much as the others

Had thought about him too, but seeing as the last confirmed sighting of him was on the surface of Reach, he probably died in its glassing. However, that was years after the fact so he may have made it off. Speculations...
One day I hope they’ll confirm Soren-066 fate. One of the few S-II that went rouge with argumentation that caused him to have a flaw appearance.

He's currently classified as MIA, and I chose to keep those out. Wanted to keep this to Spartans confirmed to be active or whose status hasn't been confirmed in a while, such as with the washouts.
He may have shown up to Reach. But Halsey does say it's a lie that everyone but Grey was recalled...
This was really cool. Thanks for putting it together. No matter what the new show/IP does to ruin things, Halo's past lore is deep and meaningful. Eternally grateful for everyone that worked on it from Halo 1 to Infinite.

Actually in the Navy Master Chief Petty Officers are considered higher than lower ranking officers even though it is an enlisted rank. All Chiefs are more experienced due to the fact that MCPO is the highest enlisted rank. Also John 117 is ( I believe) the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy which is one of the highest positions in the military. In which case he would be a higher rank than Fred.

Unpopular opinion: it’s kind of lame that there are so many spartan IIs still alive. I kinda liked the idea of John being the last one.
Personally, I found it strange that during Halo 1, 2, 3 we never met or hear mention of any other Spartans, considering how many of them are alive.
@@simonaspalovis1204 It's just that many of them are deployed on top secret missions or simply MIA with no way to contact the UNSC during the time that Halo 1,2 and 3 take place. You have to remember almost all Spartans available were sent to Reach and Reach happens literally right before Halo: CE starts in the trilogy so it makes sense after Reach was glassed that not many Spartans are mentions...so many of them died on Reach.
If it were handled well i'd be fine with it. For example, Red Team is fine because everyone would reasonably think they're dead. They're also not really special outside of the context of Halo Wars. Blue Team is a bad example of this, they're all close to Chief and somehow all survived up to Halo 5 but never bumped into him in any of the 4 other games?

Don’t forget Beta Red Team on Reach. They were defending one of the Orbital Defense Platforms. Upon the Covenant breaking through UNSC defenses and acquiring air superiority, Beta Red Team’s last transmission indicates that they were falling back before the Covenant orbitally bombarded the area. They then hailed any available UNSC ships in the area for an immediate evac. Their current whereabouts are unknown.
Seeing as how Will’s team survived an orbital bombardment, alongside UNSC Prowlers cloaked above the planet, I find it likely they could have survived.
