Let's all know these two both respected and loved each other (non romantically). They lived together for many years and Ram used to take care of Tim's kids! Such a great debate/conversation. They're so real with their feelings together.
If all humans were as awake as Ram Dass, we would live in peace. Egos armed with intellect and good intentions will only create more problems. The world would begin to change naturally and harmoniously if everyone focused on changing themselves instead of trying to change the world.
It really does seem that way. Leary is so interested in being right and convincing you of something. Ram Dass has more of a "hey, here's some thing. If they sound good to you, great! If not, that's ok too."
If you don't know what they're talking about, how can you make a statement that he's talking about nothing? He's talking about the Oneness of everything. You are not just a body/mind, you are Everything and Nothing at the same time. That's not "religious" rambling. That's true. There is no Self. Anything you can point to as a "Self" is a phenomenal experience, and therefore an object and not a subject. To whom does experience occur?
I only created this account because I love UA-cam Premium and I am beyond sick of commercials. Yuck! It's so refreshing to hear such Far Out Wisdom from both Dr. Leary and Ram Dass.
"We have pollsters in the White House . . . They act based on the polls . . . And isn't that exactly what we wanted?" . . . The power lies with individuals . . .
For those into RAW and Leary’s work in person transformation, I recommend checking out 8 Circuit Yoga, a series that synthesizes Leary, Wilson, Jung, and Ram Dass into a fresh framework
Your getting into some serious philosophical semantics IME> The bottom line is that much/most modern *religion* is an organized and most importantly corrupt spirituality. Ra, Dass is/was the real deal...period. A self realized man/enlightened man. I love leary and he was full of intellectual pride. What your witnessing here is allot of said price. He liked to argue and be right. Ram dass was more spiritually evolved...period. Leary also had allot more fear. God bless.
Leary was a genius in ways but he is so clearly trapped in his ego. Perhaps he attaches to this as a way of protecting himself from his childhood trauma and neglect. Let’s not forget that learys wife committed suicide too. Leary was a very traumatised person and this shows up in his narcissism and egoism. He needed help
@@Illumignostic dude they were clearly having fun. it was all love. Leary wanted Ram Dass to sweep the floor. Leary wrote the book before the Lucy in the sky with Diamonds. Dr. Leary was a true genius.
1:20,..always loved this analogy by Tim. On-Off-On-Off-Void-Structure-Void-Structure!

Timothy Leary was trapped in ego, it's incredible to watch Ram Dass run circles around him because of it
I thought Leary took LSD to get away from Ego?
@@sheilaboland6285 I thought so as well.
I think you got it backwards.
they were just having fun.

Lovely
Ram Dass having a thoughtful little chew on his microphone at 1:18... ha ha
Thank you for this great upload, had a blast watching it.

Thanks for sharing this, I'm always excited to see people synthesizing new material about the 8 circuit model. Looks very promising.
Thank you, traveller
you obviously don't know who these guys are if you just "think" they're on LSD.
Only 2000s kids wouldn’t know these people
Thank you!
Can anyone tell me what this is from? I once saw the beginning of this where ram Dass comes out and sits down but I can't find it anymore.

Were they both drinking wine?

5:32 Dr. Leary is the best
Then boyz donez bez hopped-up really well indeed.
I have great respect to Ram Dass but sometimes I struggle to understand his point. Maybe it’s because my mind is just to primitive.
Maybe you transcended his mind.
He waits for an applause to back himself.
make mine your words!
Is Ram Dass annoyed at Leary for being drunk? Or am I reading it wrong?
A lil bit I think. But they're friends. Check out the second video
This debate is terrible anyway, they need to do it without an audience.
They were long time friends and it's only a casual "debate".
Leary wins
Ram Dass #1 Leary is awesome too.
