    Man I’m so glad you got back around to Dylan. Such great acoustic playing in RTR and Blood OTT. Absolute treasure.
    There’s a grainy old video of him doing Tangled Up In Blue in white-face make up. Not the popular one!! It was up on UA-cam briefly and taken down. Different arrangement. Slower strumming. Wondering if you saw it.
    Gold!!

    Hello from Liverpool. 👍 I’m pretty new to the guitar - only started a few years ago and I’m 58! I’ve learnt more and enjoyed playing more since you appeared on my feed a couple of months ago than I did in the previous four or some years! Just clicked with your style of doing stuff and the stuff you do. Thank you, sir! Keep it up 👏👏👏

    I like the version from Dylan Live 1966 collection best, both for the sensitive vocal and the terrific harmonica solo. It has this strange quality of being both rushed in tempo and patient in phrasing. But I don't much like the guitar on 1966.

    Hey JJ hate to bother you as I know you’ve stopped recording and are enjoying your UA-cam retirement. But did you delete a non-lesson recording of the full song? Perhaps it’s the Mandela Effect but I recall you posting a video for this song that wasn’t a lesson. Could be totally wrong maybe I’m just misremembering. Anyways thanks for the lesson and good luck!

    So how did the Byrds get a way with releasing their own version of this Bob Dylan song, literally a month after Bob released it?? They must have needed permission, but why would anyone give that permission right when they are releasing it themselves?

    • @jamesjames9275
      @jamesjames9275  3 роки тому

      You don't need permission to record a cover of a song. You just have to give the writing credit to the writer.

    • @pgrutube
      @pgrutube 3 роки тому

      @@jamesjames9275 A bit cheeky. I would think most artist would respect each others work without covering it, until it's had it's own original run.

      @@pgrutube Whatever the cause, the effect was that apart from Joan Baez a couple of years earlier the Byrds rendition boosted Bobby’s career turbowise! 😋

    • @DaveCatD

      The Byrds based their version on a demo they received from their manager before Dylan released his recording. Dylan liked the Byrds' version.

    Jimmy Jim,
    I read his biographies and a friend of mine knows Bob quite well.
    The dude is notorious for stealing, not only other people's songs, but entire record collections.
    It seems like everyone that's let young Bob Dylan stay at their house has had the cream of their record collections go with him.
    One lady tried to give him her Martin guitar, which he refused.
    Days later she realized her albums were gone.
    It was time for his boot heels to be a-wanderin'!
    :)

    • @NiePieerdol
      @NiePieerdol 3 роки тому

      Yeah it's all been emerging even more since he gave "his" poem for an auction - turned out he'd stolen it of course. Joni Mitchell has been saying for years that Bob's a lyrics thief. Reusing and borrowing has borders, even in folk music
