This was the first cover that Courtney released to her channel after AGT and it was both a revelation and a shock to those who only knew her for the classic rock that she sang in that competition and who were completely unaware of how really versatile she was vocally. It also was a wake up call to all those who were not necessarily rock fans and who had piled so much hate on her during AGT, calling her a screamer and making fun of the way she danced. After this performance, and several others that have followed, that have shown what an absolutely beautiful voice Courtney has, nearly all of those arm chair critics have long since fallen by the wayside. I agree with you fully when you talk about Courtney in relation to some of the all time legends of music like Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner. Courtney is truly a generational talent and ultimately her impact on music will reflect that. Based on the bits of more recent original music that we have heard from her so far, she appears to be blazing her own, as yet, unseen path through the music world, creating a style all her own. It is Courtney's combination of talent, creativity, passion and originality that will ensure that she will also one day join the ranks of those aforementioned legends.
Courtney just released a cover of the Tina Turner iconic 'What's Love Got To Do With it' on her channel. As is no surprise, she did her own take on it and, it is spectacular. Link is below:

Oh, awesome! I will check that out. I thought she was adorable on AGT. Sometimes, people get jealous or mad that someone has something (like all that talent) and want to bring them down to where they are in misery. It's frustrating, but... it just shows that Courtney is amazing!

@@BetterEveryDayUA-cam A lot of the negative feedback Courtney got on AGT was actually for the show as a lot of people though that it was forcing Courtney on them and they'd had enough. It is one of the few seasons where a singer didn't place higher than fifth, Simon implied on champions that he had expected her to win.

I enjoyed your reaction. She moves you. This song in a way reminds me of a shorter version of Bolero. For 14 or so minutes, Bolero starts off soft and builds up to an incredible climax. Courtney does the same thing here with the only difference is she caps it off with a soft touch. Courtney in many of her works builds you up with a perfect crescendo.
Courtney took a lot of unnecessary heat in her AGT season 13 run. Some called her a ripoff of Janice Joplin. Some said she screamed and didn't like her moves. What they fail to say is with AGT it was an audition, that in itself brings on pressure that a concert or being in the studio doesn't as you're not really competing. She took an idea to AGT and stuck with it, the old school rock with the old school moves all in 3 minute clips. People are so stuck in today's garbage music that they can't see a raw talent right in front of their eyes.
This song is a perfect example of the unseen and younger Courtney from AGT. Not only does she have a powerful voice, but the emotion she brings is undeniable. She can bring you to tears with her performances, or simply with her voice. I only hope that in the crazy world of entertainment, she doesn't become a Janice Joplin or an Amy Winehouse etc. She appears to be a sweet and humble person that only wants to share her own music with all of us. I cannot wait for her first original album to drop. This year took a toll on the music industry. Thankfully Courtney is young and now only 16, so hopefully in 2021 the rest of the world gets introduced to her.

Man oh man Courtney just has it. Like you, it's not my kind of music I would listen to but when she sings anything, and I mean anything I am all ears. I just finished watched her do a live impromptu Instagram chat where she wanted to sing because she had just finished a writing session. So she came on the spur of the moment live to release herself. She said "I just needed to unwind and sing". And we all got a treat. She has a number of these live Instagram up on UA-cam by her fans. It's well worth a listen to all or some of them because of how entertaining and funny she is with one on one situations. At least that's what it feels like, because of how she interacts with people. And the more she does these lives the funnier she gets. It's almost like talking to a friend and joking around with them. A few insults, a few thank yous, and a few love you guys. But then she sings and asks for songs to sing. She's a really good young lady. I normally say "a good kid", but she's growing up fast to be called a kid and should be treated as such. So forgive me for even thinking of using that word.
Btw, your reactions to Courtney are always great, but the strange thing is they don't get blocked like a number of other reactors who have had a problem with to her Cover Sessions videos. I wonder why? Just keep them coming. There's a lot you really will love as you follow her more. Some great videos of her younger. I'll link some later of her early years. There's one where she's like 9 maybe 10 at most and the passion and power that comes out of this petite little girls body from home is mind boggling. I'll look for it and link it here.

This is a song where she sings her heart out. I don't know if you want to react to it or not, since it's not a great backing track or a studio recording. Just little Courtney at home getting filmed while she sings "Rolling in the deep" ua-cam.com/video/WXEgQBOXnNo/v-deo.html As I said the passion and the power she shows at such a young age is incredible. Enjoy.

This fantastic young lady has a way of taking me out of myself. Her telent keeps me transfixed, and everything else just ins;t there while she sings. Courtney can lend herself to most music types, and do it well. But I would really love to see her get stuck into some soulful blues.

It says a lot that you want to listen to Courtney, even if you don't always like the song type. Courtney can do so many genres but in her own style. We all are eager to hear what will be on her coming album. She is a rocker at heart, but she uses that mentality to infuse her gritty emotion into both soft and hard styles. You are right; she brings a voice like none out there right now! I've subscribed, especially if you keep doing Courtney!

That was a great reaction, BED! Understand that this isn't quite your style, but cool that you love her iconic voice, got some goosebumps (I get those too when I listen to her!) and liked this softer side of Courtney (softer high and low part of her register), but still opened your eyes wide when she hit her signature raspy, dirty notes toward the end. You mentioned four iconic voices from the past, Aretha, Tina, Christina and Celine Dione. Interesting because she's often listed the 1st three as musical heroes of hers, along with Etta James, Janis Joplin, James Brown, Bruce Springsteen, etc.
Btw, when she did these 4 cover sessions, 3 of which you've already reacted to), she was only 14. She just turned 16 in July.
Last year, a few months before she did these 4 cover sessions, she was invited by the rock group, The Struts, to perform two songs at one of their concerts. One of the songs she sang was Janis Joplin's "Piece of my Heart" which has a bit more rock to it than the last couple of Courtz songs you've listened to. I think you're REALLY gonna like this one performed live in front of an actual concert crowd - ua-cam.com/video/Dq6XN2jS1sE/v-deo.html THANK YOU!!!!
Oh, and she was supposed to release her album earlier this year, but coronavirus but a kabosh on those plans. We are eagerly awaiting the announcement of a date for her first original single or original album to drop

Hi just a point. I feel that her singing with the struts on agt was better her mike volume was too low in Newcastle and also the recording wasn't great just my 2 cents.

    • @TCubillas
      @TCubillas 4 роки тому +5

@@dmc1539 Point taken but, despite the lower-quality recording, I felt Courtney's performance was MUCH better than in AGT. Plus, I much prefer a real concert crowd than the more "plasticky" game show crowd. In fact, despite the cell phone recording, that is one of my favorite performances Courtney has done to date and really feel she was much more outgoing and energized at the Struts concert.
In fact, I think it's a 1st view at what she'll look like in front of a "real" concert crowd, and I LOVED what I saw!

@@TCubillas everyone has their favorite of Courtney and that's good like my favorite of her agt was Born to be wild even if she ran out of breath at the end.. I've been following her since she was on the voice and I think that she will be an icon given the breaks that she needs. I just worry that she is not getting the exposure now to keep her in the public eye.

  • @bertpainter8385

After listening again and to your comments about not usually listening to covers by others, but you would listen for Courtney because of her voice, I thought you might want to hear one of her originals she did on AGT Champions.
    "Pretty Little Thing" ua-cam.com/video/ZYDdBvI3Khg/v-deo.html
She also has some other originals she has done only at home on Instagram with her voice and her guitar. My guess is that her home originals are based around the short amount of time learning guitar, which is about a year now. So more acoustic in nature. I think her rock style we will see later on her 1st album.

Those shows are fixed for ratings anyway. I always thought they just wanted her to perform on that show right after she blew the roof off a few months earlier on the regular season. She was already signed by Simon at the time and their plans to send her to Sweden for some song writing experience and recording were in the works for her. I felt they wanted to give her exposure but not over tax her with everything they had planned out for her. Plus she gave the show big ratings from the carry over.
Anyway have you watched her live concert performance sing Janis Joplin's "Piece of my Heart" singing with The Struts in the UK? It's very good stage performance by Courtney. ua-cam.com/video/Dq6XN2jS1sE/v-deo.html She made to perform on stage. That's when she at her best.

AGT champions was actually filmed about 3 weeks after the regular season ended before the Vegas show so it was before she was signed. Courtney performed her original 'Pretty little thing' in Vegas but although it was the first performance of the song to be available it wasn't the public debut of the song.

Her signing up for a record deal started BEFORE she had finished her audition for AGT. As Howie pressed the golden buzzer Simon laid a pen down beside it, Howie said he couldn't get her a record deal, Simon with his action of laying down the pen said but i can. The rest as they say is rock history
