Man i love this video. Your first original build is almost what im going to do. I also had japanese fenders and a squier at different points. Japanese strat, and a japanese mustang. When you talked about finding cheap pickups on amazon... my kind of experience is.. well man ive bought duncans, offical fender, dimarzios, and all sorts of things man. Months ago i did a tele bridge pickup shoot out. Almost everyone thought the 20ish dollar artec sounded the best even about the 30ish dollar Wilkinsons. Since then ive only bought cheap pickups and probably still will. Lately ive tried a few fleor pickups and like the cheapest amazon pickups... id put every set i have bought for a tele mim quality or better. Some have been better than like the deluxe drive and tex mex fender pickups i bought. Now....humbuckers have been hit and miss as far as cheap ones go. I have some pretty high output not be potted.
Here is my theory on harley bentons quality. I think they skimp on the cheaper models now because they introduced "premium" models the last few years. Like the fusion and active models and the ones they make for metal music all super straty jacksonish. I think they are putting more effort into those new fancier almost more original models they make than the copies. My ric copy by them was solid. My satin black p bass... the nut broke the day i got it. I bought them 2 to 3 years apart. To be fair though i got them from the other side of the world so temperature changes, blah blah you know... but i never had a guitar or bass nut break on me, and other than a rogue in the early 2000s i dont think i ever got a guitar broke or that broke within minutes of light playing. A nut isnt a huge thing to replace, but its that i had to on something brand new that got me not to bite the bullet on another harley benton. The shipping is the main reason but i dont think the quality was where it should be on either the functional one, or the one the but broke for no reason. I guess squiers here seem almost comparable in price but i dont think the quality on the more recent ones i bought have been good either... that said its been sonic series and affinities...but i can go on amazon and by a lyx pro for like 89 bucks and other than its paulownia body it be infinitely better than a benton and squier, or i could drop 109 abd buy a monoprice indio, which ive bought 2 of, and both came almost perfectly set up... thats cheaper than a benton and a squier. No i got some glarry guitar stories that will make you laugh. I think glarry is awful generally, but if youre buying for a mod platform its f'n perfect
@@tigmil8116 holly molly nut breaking is crazy I've worn nuts out but breaking?! What was it made from 🤣 yeah there's some guitars over where you're at I'd like to get my hands on just to see what I can do with it 😉😉 but I have enough guitars to mod for a lifetime so of course I'm getting more 😆😆
if you decide to get a 3d printer... ender 3 pro ...cheap you can upgrade it , cheap , and you have talent so dialing it in would end up being easy for you
