Across the diaspora, I grew up in a house filled with music, dancing, laughter, and lots of good times. Great food, too! Borders do not erase our traditions. Jollof is one of my favorite things to eat, no matter where it comes from. But that NIgerian though...❤

i loved this! im inspired by her bravery & honesty. my dna report shows all of my jamaican dad as likely having Igbo roots. BUT: when i was age 10 or so, i watched a movie about the bronze work of Benin, and a chill ran through me. i feel like Benin City-an ancient metropolis-is in me as well! i’m trans, so i too feel “illegal” in my motherland
