I appreciate what you are saying, but there is no scriptural support for repentance being a gift given by God (i.e. people are not able to repent without that gift). The gift is that God allows our repentance to be used to redeem ourselves through Christ. We no longer have to sacrifice an animal, but just believe in Christ and repent of our sins to have them washed away. I know this is probably trivial, but there are doctrines out there that teach that you cannot repent except God gives you the ability to repent thus alluding to the thought that he does not give others the ability to repent and therefore has created reprobate souls himself.
