I remember in the 1970s his decline was still kind of scandalous and talked about in hushed tones. And he was viewed as extremely edgy. Reality - he was a forerunner of today's more relaxed interviewer style moving away from the starchy approach of the 1950s.
I'd really love to see more episodes of Dee Time. What an awful mistake that they were wiped !! 1967 broadcasting media history gone down the drain!! Bother!!
Just watching Simon Dee again, it’s not surprising he was so popular. His relaxed manner put guests at ease and he was entertaining. Contrast his technique to the “in your face” presenters of today.
Lionel Jeffries. I have Chitty Chitty Bang Band on DVD, not Mary Poppins. Sorry he got sick recording that great scene. I originally saw it at the theatre at the age of 4.
When Jonathan Ross first aired The Last Resort, so many years ago now in the late 80s. He was called wacky and original. At the time I discussed it with my friends; and said I thought he reminded me of somebody else.....turns out to be Simon Dee. Ross would have been about 8 yrs old watching this.....
1968 we'd had four years of a Labour government Unemployment was very high and pensioners were treated like shit. I wish people would take note LABOUR ARE USELESS AT RUNNING THE ECONOMY !!!!
A quick Google reveals that just over half a million Brits were registered unemployed in May 1968. When Margaret Thatcher was PM that figure was over 3 million at one point. But don't let awkward things like facts get in the way of your rant.

Pity about his dropping off in popularity, due to David Frost being envious of him. He died far too young. He was a great talent, ahead of his time.

Such a great time capsule of that time, thanks for uploading mate 🎸📺

Why would you want to watch something like that?
@@ElvarMasson Because it shows her hate for William.
RIP Susanna - Lionel - Wayne - and Simon - so sorry you are no longer with us ...
@Peter Russ. Yes I agree Imagine Simon doing Jonathan Ross Show.
He was ahead of his time
"Our first guest is from thirty years in the far future ...Please give a warm welcome to Mr Nick Moran and his snakes"
Psychedelic shirt and tie with a Prince of Wales check jacket? Eeewww!
I quite like that style.

So THAT'S where the Tories got the idea from.
