What i loved about my Rabbit, was how simple his love was. He didn't need you to pet him all the time like a dog, nor was he as needy as a cat who wanted food etc. He was happy by me simply being in the same room as him :) When i was studying he'd run around me a couple of times, run around in the room, eat, drink and then just fall asleep right next to my feet. :)

When I was studying for my stockbroker's licence he would periodically try to "read" my books and apparently couldn't figure out why I was staring at them so much. He'd always give me that "why?" look after doing that.

They sure do act like dogs. Remember when my bunny was still alive, sometimes during weekends when I would sleep longer , he would run up to the second floor of my house where I was sleeping, jump on my bed and wake me up.

I love how the buns know they've done something their owners won't like by immediately running away with a binky! I don't have a garden at the moment, I can't wait until I do so my buns can experience snow!!

Need to point out that although, rabbits are not "rodents", they share characteristics of rodents, in that they are gnawing animals. They love to chew on just about anything. We give ours newspaper, which they will happy spend hours tearing into little strips. If you keep a rabbit indoors, you have to be extremely careful on the placement of all your electrical wiring. They LOVE to chew on wires.

Rory Gallagherfan They are from a group called lagomorphs. Separate from Rodentia and Cavis altogether. There's not many animals that come under lagomorphs then rabbits, which makes them kind of special.

Seeing Thumper so happy and free makes me sad, my cousins had a bunny for a while but they kept him caged all the time and he never learned to trust them. He was stiff and tense 100% of the time. Bunnies always look so much happier when they're comfortable and free to roam!

Nice job on your video! Rabbits make great pets. We keep them on our homestead and the one awesome thing about rabbits you missed is what their droppings can do for your garden :). Keep up the good work and give Thumper a small piece carrot.

Your video makes me happy and i watched it over and over again because there's a lot of joy and love between your family and those rabbits (esp.Thumper). I really can tell all of your pets are happy, it's really joyful to see how happy THumper is when he is doing his binky.. I always have rabbit as a pet since im young, and my last rabbit recently died after 6 years. Now we have 2 Jersey Wooly and 2 Netherland, They are my source of happiness :) And yes, rabbit has personality!

Good job on the video. I love my rabbits. They have always lived indoors, but I prefer they go back to their home (cage) when I'm not supervising them. I've had a variety of breeds, both male and female, and there is something special and different about them all.

  • @Zyoung1236

We had a few rabbits that had free run of the house, and when it was nice out, we let them outside for almost all day with no one watching them at all. We have about an acre sized yard, and they mostly stayed in the yard. They might hide in a neighbors' bushes or wander a bit farther sometimes, but they knew not to cross the road, and they came inside when we needed them to. One of the rabbits lived outside all the time. She was only put in a cage or kept indoors in the rain or winter. And if you think that sounds cruel or careless, that rabbit was very smart and tough as nails. If something threatened her, she would growl and bite and fight. She didn't just live outdoors, she preferred and _thrived_ outdoors. But she was very affectionate and when you went outside, she would run from across the whole yard to sit in your lap. She later passed away from a brain tumor, though, not the outdoors.

+ZachTheCommie I hear a lot of stories like this that end in disasters. Almost everything out there wants to kill rabbits.
I wish I had an outdoor space to take our does out in to play - but given all the dogs that get loose in this neighborhood and the way a dog will fixate on a rabbit (I've seen dogs stare until they start drooling) ours are almost exclusively indoors. They have the run of the house tho and have a lot of fun.

Brings back a lot of nice memories. We had inside rabbits for five years and yard bunnies for four. Love seeing what we called their "Boings!" again. We had Hazel, Scooter, Gandalf, Raspberry, Blackberry and Blueberry at various times. Scooter loved to be chased around the apartment when we got home. The routine was that we'd open the front door and she would run down the hall to where the bathroom door was, align herself to run in there behind the toilet, but stare tensely back at us. We would take a couple of very stealthy predator step, then lunge while we were still 15 feet away. Like a bullet she would be in the bathroom. One day went per routine until she jumped into the bathroom, WHOMP into the closed door. Poor Bunny.

I've had a bunch of pet bunnies over the years and they're just hysterical to have around. They make me laugh all the time. They're easy to keep as a pet too, just like a cat. U just gotta keep the flea & tick meds on them once a month and make sure u brush out their coat if u have a long haired bunny. Other than that and a once a year vet check .. and keep their ears clean,,,they're easy n fun. When they jump sideways like that, that means you have one very happy bunny

Naughtyness, the cuddles, the greedyness, and oh mi goodness, if someone came over, he behaved like a buncheeti who never got any attention, it was so embarassing when this girl pointed out "you should spend more time with your bunny, he is so loveable" i gave Pepe such a stink eye, no other bunny got as much love as him!!!! Nice video. You got some really great footage. They are so cute. I have two females. One is a lop and the other is a rex. I got the rex, Daisy to keep Buttercup company, but they fight every time I try to do a meeting for them. So i let them out of their cages separately. Only put them in there when i am at work or gone for a few hours, otherwise they run free. Both are litter box trained. Bunnies are very smart. Every morning Buttercup jumps on my bed and wakes me up. She then stays at least twenty minutes and lets me pet her. If I stop, she moves even closer and then will start digging either on me or the blankets. Kind of like a "hey why did you stop, i want to be petted still." If anyone has any advice on how I can get these two to be friends, it would be so appreciated. Thanks for sharing such a cute clip.

rabbits need to be spayed or neutered before introductions, because hormones will cause htem to fight. rabbits who are left intact also have an 80% of developing reproductive cancer which is a very sad and painful way to die. so it's very important in all aspects to have the desexed. here's an article about bonding www.ohiohouserabbitrescue.org/bondingbunnies/

Wish you could have talked lil bit about the evilness^^
The last bunny i had, had the habit to bite when it didn't want any contact or generally had enough. Not hard, just sorta play bite where i didn't even have any teethmarks on my skin. The scariest thing was, when i was petting the head and i noticed he was slowing racing his head, then i knew he had enough and was ready to shooo me away.
Oh and all the bunnies before made me an expert on cable repairs... left my headphones on the bed, now i got two, three, four pieces of it :D

I used to have to scruff my rabbit, because that's just what it came too. Maybe try throwing a towel over her and then quickly grab her. Her eyes will be covered so it will be less stressful. But always handle her with care, she is just like a baby. Very fragile

PLEASE DO NOT SCRUFF YOUR RABBIT, their backs are EXTREMELY fragile one kick would paralyze your rabbit. coax your rabbit towards you with treats and pick her up with both hands. her aggression about nipping and threatening to bite could be hormonal if shes not spayed, they also have a 80% of developing reproductive cancer by age 4 if not spayed/neutered so it's important and will help their behavior usually. if all else fails, put her in a pet crate (put food/treat inside to get her in) to bring her from room to room.

+Slothlax Aww that's so sad! I could never handle any of my pets living outdoors, I've only ever had inside pets and I would feel so far away from them, ha ha!

+Slothlax I'm very sorry. I had a rabbit dumped on me by an alcoholic, abusive "friend," and learned a lot about rabbits in a short time. The most important thing I learned was that rabbits are miserable by themselves. If your bunny is alone outside in a hutch, he or she is probably going mad. Rabbits are prey animals, and being alone for them means extreme stress. The rabbit who got dumped on me IMMEDIATELY made friends with all of my cats and acts more like a dog than anything else -- can you imagine leaving a dog outside, all alone, all the time? I had to get another rabbit for the first one dumped on me because she is so needy and affectionate that being a house rabbit with three cat friends still wasn't enough love for her. Can you afford to go to the local rabbit rescue and do a little speed-dating and get your rabbit a friend? They can also cut you a deal on getting your bunny neutered, so you don't end up with a thousand more rabbits. I hope you respond, because it makes me so sad to imagine your bunny all alone outside! I'd love to help your bunny have a better life, and I'm sure you don't want it to be sad.
