- Not sure if you need an XLR or a USB microphone?🤔
Here's a quick rundown:
🎙️ XLR microphones capture your audio recording as an analog signal,
🎙️ while USB microphones record your voice as a digital signal.
In terms of audio quality, both types of microphones capture high-quality audio, so it really comes down to personal preference.

Extremely helpful
Signal chain for XLR is microphone > preamp > ADC > DAW
Also for XLR you can use boutique preamps, insert compressors/gates on the mixer channel, use the channel strip's EQ, route it just about anywhere thats connected to an aux send or a mix bus if you use an analog mixing console.
Just say that the USB Mic has a integrated audio interface.
... a cheaper one ^^
Thanks for the valuable information
Great Vedio...good work 🤟
Appreciate your kind words!

Thanks man 👍
I got a USB microphone for my own podcast studio in the works 🙂😁
is this usb microphone good for field recording
If you're searching for a recording solution that's great for on-the-go or smartphone use, consider Rode Smartlav+ or Rode NT-USB Mini. Another fantastic option for portable recording is the PodTrak P4.
USB mics can be dynamic or condenser? or not?
Absolutely! USB mics can indeed be either dynamic or condenser. The key difference is in how they capture sound, but the USB part simply refers to how they connect to your computer.
So, what's the difference? If they're both ok
Really depends on the quality and the brand you’re getting it from typically a standard XLR has rich low mids and has a fuller sound which you won’t get fully from a cheap usb microphone. This is just a case of you get what you paid for
I'd say it can depend on your set up, especially if you have two microphones that provide the same quality. USB Mics are great for smaller desk setups when recording at home, while XLR mics is best all around since you have typically use them for Live setups or home/studio recording (only you need more equipment to run them). USB Mics is how most creators start out with since it doesn't need an interface to connect to your PC
Sir what settings should I use for Samson q2u. Thank you.
Can i combine the mics to use it in cubase?
How can an USB condenser mic function without using phantom power?
I bought two Fifine Tanks, they sound great but one MAJOR issue. My Mac won’t recognize them simultaneously even with a MIDI aggregate. Seems like my only option is one Fifine and a Rode unless someone can crack the code on this.
Hi Lee and Diana! Both types of microphones deliver excellent sound quality. Visit the link I've shared to discover the gear that suits you best!- www.youtube.com/@Buzzsprout/search?query=microphone
usb mic cannot record music
Hey there, great question! If you're talking about recording live music while podcasting, USB mics might not be your best bet. But for adding pre-recorded tunes into your podcast, a USB mic for your voice works just fine. You can always add the music later during editing. Happy podcasting!
@@Buzzsproutno literally, usb mic capture all frequence
I use samson g track pro usb i can plug a instrument too and adjust the volume of the instrument and record both vocals and misic as either mono or 2seperate tracks.
@@davidchapman3042 Looking into them now, thanks for the tip!
...except that a USB mic means that you don't have to use an audio interface, which pro or con, impacts the sound - and expense. Is this right?
This makes the new Rode NT1 a bit confusing (to me). Also, to my ear, the comparisons of the NT1 I've heard (XLR/USB) sound different. Is that in my head?
Hey there! You’re spot on. USB mics are indeed more convenient as they don’t require an audio interface, while XLR mics offer more flexibility. The Rode NT1 is unique as it combines both features. As for the sound differences you’ve noticed, subtle differences in sound quality between XLR and USB setups are quite common. Each has its pros and cons depending on your needs and setup. 😊
